    We used fluid in the tires of our Allis 200 for this reason. Allis made such capable tractors, more than the HP numbers would lead one to believe

      @@RJ1999x Deal on 200 went sour. Sold for 4300. Guy said it stayed in gear. Vid had it in first and reverse only. I asked for a vid of all gears and the hi lo being shifted. Never happened. Looked at a 7000 next. Hydraulic issue cropped up and now tractor won't move. I guess I am paranoid but I have no need for someone else's misfortune. Now on to a 7020 with PD trans. Needs interior. There are plenty of well cared for but have faded paint needing tires out there of many brands. I will find one. The chase is but part of the fun!

      @@RJ1999x It had a cab but they took it off and put 190XT fenders on it, no weights and had just got the brakes replaced. He was kind of vague I thought about giving answers. We had the same setup, AC D-21 with the 7 bottom plow, that D-21 would walk the dog all day long.

  • @jonelsonster
    @jonelsonster  8 років тому +6

    The 9000 series plow with 7 bottoms (notice it is 5 bottoms with the optional sixth and seventh added on) was made to be pulled by the D-21. With 7 bottoms the tractor was able to drive on flat ground (the two right tires outside the furrow)

    That looks like a series 1 d21 without the turbo. I think they had about 100 horsepower. Series 2 was more like 130 horse and that had the turbo

    • @jonelsonster
      @jonelsonster  2 роки тому

      It belongs to another guy in our club, so I'm not 100% sure, but I thought it was a Series II. If you look closely at thre hood, back by the driver, you can almost make out the writing:
      "Series II
      Turbocharged
      Diesel"
      But I'll double check next time I see him.

    Sod cutters or coulters really.make a difference in how a plow does,i once took mine off to plow corn stubble,thinking to make the plow somewhat lighter in wieght an give better trash clearance!what a mistake on my part they did a pretty fair job of ripping but it didnt resemble plowing,so i put em back on!Hah,lesson,s learned!

    The problem looks like the plow isn't set, doesn't look like the moldboards are scoured either its not rolling its pushing, that's why the 21 is fighting

  • @paulchristensen2854
    @paulchristensen2854 7 років тому +11

    Plow NOT set up right. Looks like coulters are not lining up with mould boards correctly the way dirt is coming around the sides of them. Get it set correctly and it will pull 2x easier with a better job of rolling the furrow over

    • @jonelsonster
      @jonelsonster  7 років тому +3

      Yes, as some have pointed out, the plow needed adjustment. This was the first time this plow had been used since putting it back together. But you can't get it adjusted correctly until you actually try it out.

    We just did 10 acres plus of sod that hadn't seen any fitting in over 20 years... You can see any grass and about lay a 2x4 across the field level...
    You adjust em right AC plows are unmatched!!!

    Ground seems too wet in enough places that he needs to wait a couple of days before trying to use that turning plow on it. Love that D 21. It will really pull. With this rig he may want to put duals wheels on the back.

    • @jonelsonster
      @jonelsonster  3 роки тому +2

      Yes, some areas were quite wet. Ideally we would have waited a few days. But, this was at our club's fall plow day and we either went out and plowed (despite the wet soil conditions) or it was going to be cancelled. We chose to go out and try.

    Hard to tell from the video but the hitch does not appear to be in front of the center of resistance. It looks like the hitch can be moved one slot more to the land side to balance the pull. Too much pull to the furrow side will cock the plow and the land side resistance will vastly increase and stick the plow. That's my guess.

    • @65metal
      @65metal 5 років тому +1

      @@michaelrichter8973 Here's the answer to the debate, how big of plow depends on two things, the soil type/condition and how deep. There is only so much hp and so much weight, throw in the superior AC traction control, and it all depends on how hard the dirt pushes back. Dry sandy soil a correctly set 7 bottom is probably about right. But some heavy black or clay loam soil, a 5 bottom will give it all it wants.
