2700-3000 kelvin is the 2 warm whites we use, they provide a nice illumination onto plants, walkway etc with good clarity while keeping the tone warm which is subtle to the eye at night.
What a great video! So much info that is not shared elsewhere and really good objective info on a subjective subject... art :) Thank you for sharing your knowledge
Thank you for the great informational video. I'm not fining the links to the wire connectors you mentioned would be included in the more information section. Can you provide links to the connectors you use, please? Thank you!
Great video just found you. Do you ever give advice on current lighting from an image? I just paid someone to do my landscape lighting and it’s not as bright as I hoped. I feel like it was your what not to do. 😂 I can send an image of it. I also want some of your gutter lights to light my top of the house. I couldn’t find the ones you recommended. Any advice on that too. Thanks!

We use miniature led spots that are the size of a magic marker to keep out of sight better during the day. Gardenlight LED out of Tampa Florida makes them
@@OutdoorInspirations I use both those as well, but the fixture I was curious about was the one you had under the seating fire pit area that was a solid white rope light.
I tried to find a landscape lighting professional using the link you provided for the professional organization but the closest one is over an hour away....do you do any consulting work where I could send photos of my property day and night and hire you for your recommendations? I can likely do most of the actual work but the design and selecting the correct products is not my strong suit.
Hi there! We can definitely help you out. Please give our office a call at 919-762-0530 so we can chat. Our design fees start at $550 and scale depending on the project. Look forward to talking to you soon!
@@oscargamez9616 We usually bring up inside the downspouts, using a thick poly encased wire. Check with your local building code to make sure they allow in your area.
Yes small compact lights allow for less visual eyesores during the day. We use gardenlightled.com/, only commercial users can purchase- so you will need to hire someone to get these. Otherwise there are some decent small lights available at landscape supply chains like Siteone
Good video, I enjoyed your comments and agree with most of your statements. However, someone needs to point out that your examples of light pollution (video time line 9:10-9:24) are a little misleading. I agree that the lights look better and will shine less light inside the home when placed on the side of and closer to the window, versus placing them directly in the middle and further away, which would cast a lot of light onto and through the window. But in your pictures, it is clearly seen in the first example the blinds are open with the louvers angled down so the light CAN shine into the room. In the second "AFTER" example, the louvers are closed and angled up so the light CAN'T shine into the room. I like the look of the lighting better in the second example, but the game with the blinds is misleading. It would be interesting how the inside of the room looks with the blinds being in the same position with the same degree of "openness" for each example.
Right and good observation there, we had to rely on the homeowner to take the inside shots and did not give him direction on using the blinds- which makes total sense to mimic both open.
Good, solid and practical advise on outdoor lighting. I assume the AOLP works within the guidelines of Dark Skies. I am Lighting Certified through NCQLP, and I don’t ever remember participating in such detailed guidelines and practical information on outdoor landscape and building exterior lighting guidelines. I would say LED has really advanced applications for exterior lighting and smaller fixtures. Great advice!
hmmm not sure it was as useful as it should... because you gave us (as many do) general info (usually with no practical meaning) but not guides. No examples at all... For example how many lumens we need to light a small tree ? what angle beam ? show us (in paper) one or two alternatives...or an example with a pathway etc... After watching this video, we still have no idea how many lumens should have the light-fixture we need to buy to light a small tree.
Thank you very much. So professional and well explained.
No problem, glad u liked the info!

Hey kevin, can you talk about kelvin? 2700 or 3000? Whats more common or looks better in your opinion
Hey Ron, that totally depends on the look you're going for. If you're wanting more brightness, go for 3000k.
Hey Kevin great video! I was just curious as to who makes that long liner fixture.
We're so glad you liked it! Thanks for the feedback. We use fixtures from gardenlightled.com/ and sterling-lighting.com/
@@OutdoorInspirations I use both those as well, but the fixture I was curious about was the one you had under the seating fire pit area that was a solid white rope light.
How did you get the wire to the 2 fixtures on the roof ? Did you just lay it on the roof
We run the wire and hide along where the roof and siding meet
@@OutdoorInspirationsis that just 14 gauge low village wire that you run?
@@bigpun4780 14 gauge is usually fine for upper story runs because we typically are powering only 4 fixtures per run up there.

Hey Kevin, how do you attach those lights on the roof? Clay of some sort or drill into roof?
Hi, Igor! We use mounts that are specific to the fixture, then use an roof rated epoxy when mounting atop a roof, no nails or screws for these.
@@OutdoorInspirations hi did you just run the wire on the roof? Or how you get it over there?

Hey where do you get your lights from. Love the video btw
Hey Daniel, majority of our lights come from Gardenlight LED. We also purchase from Sterling Lighting and a few other companies.

That specific tape light is from Brilliance but we also like to use Haven Lighting for smartphone controlled

Much appreciated, LED is smaller yet even more powerful today so light pollution will be an ongoing issue if consumers do not become more aware
I like how you closed the blinds from the before and after pics. Of course it will look better. Would've been so much better to see apples to apples.
Right on, the homeowner provided the after picture without any direction from us would have been better with blinds open for sure.

Absolutely useless 😂
Squirrels sharpen their teeth on hard plastic, that's probably why they like the wire. I had one chew the gas cap on my lawn mower, annoying
Yes Mr Nibbles is outside everywhere chewing so many things outside- even the fixtures we install up in trees
Two words "light pollution"
One word: Californian.
