    Such fun videos & so much useful information, thank you!! The DIY kit works out to $162.50 / Cell, WITH the compression case, BMS, ALL of the protection (fuse, circuit breaker & BMS) & all the needed hardware. That's an amazing price. You should white label these buggers & sell them to all of your friends in Oz!!

    My view is that equipment is improving. Coming out of manufacturing they are expecting to have a minimum of failure issues. And they though there customer service would have the ability to help. This is what they hope will happen.
    Which brings me to the point that Andy, and others are pushing quality control to a much higher standard.

    Hi Andy!
    And thank you again for this test.
    These Gobelpower Battery are good, with the NEYYYYYY will be perfect.
    But for me they are a bit expensive.
    My example is a rack type battery 100A/16S- 51.2V all included and good quality costs between 1000 and 1200usd, so if you take 3 of these batteries, it costs around 3000 to 3600Usd, for the same capacity. But still cheaper! And 3 battery is 3 boxes, 3 BMS and all the accessories.
    So sincerely they should make an effort on the price.
    And we all know that the LFP 280 costs around 100usd/Pc so there are 1600usd of cells and After???
    to reach the price of 4900Usd??
    They are too expensive their battery is a shame.
    But again thank you Andy for this test!

      Hi andy,I saw on their site, but with cells that have a capacity of only 270Ah!? so definitely poor quality cells? the ones they don't use for the packs, much more expensive?! so certainly also, with different resistances and capacities, and there it is no longer the same? my opinion bought the cells directly from EVE and make the pack with their material, but I do not know if they sell without the cells?

    Andy, can you get one of the Gobel Power DIY batteries to examine for us? They're quite a bit less expensive than the A or B types. From reading the description on their site, it appears that the DIY version of the battery includes used cells, but it's not clear how much life might remain. It's also not clear about what kind of work is required to finish the DIY unit to get it operational. Can you look into that for us?

    Does the gobel power BMS perform firmware updates like the SEPLOS did ?
    I think Gobel used the PACE BMS but I am not sure if that supports firmware updates too cause SEPLOS had been the only one in the past.
    EVE LF280 K Spec sheet has a full description of the procedure and you would need a test room offering 25°C all the time cause that is the standard procedure for comparisons what you should get out of the cell.

    • @OffGridGarageAustralia
      @OffGridGarageAustralia  Рік тому +2

      Yes, it supports FW updates like all these style BMSes do.
      I have done one for the Jakiper Battery a while back which uses the exact same Pace BMS.
      Yeah, I don't bother with these tests. Gobel takes the results to match the cells and it seems to work quite well.
      Actually, I will have such a room soon'ish but such testing is not what I'm particular interested in.

  • @alpinerep
    @alpinerep Рік тому +3

    Andy, don't most battery manufacturers rate Ah by taking the measured Wh result and dividing by the nominal voltage? In this case, 964.88/3.2=301.525Ah which is a bit closer to their published test results on cell 142.

    • @OffGridGarageAustralia
      @OffGridGarageAustralia  Рік тому +1

      No, no no no, that would be so wrong. I know Sun Fun Kits is doing this but it's not correct. Voltage is not constant, so how can you just use 3.2V and not 3.25V. Or 3.23V. Or 3.21V???
      Wh is energy, Ah is capacity. both very different!
      Ah is the only true way to measure the capacity as it eliminates the voltage altogether and makes the result comparable.

    How Andy and the community, I have 3 server rack batteries, 48 volt, 300ah.
    They are similar to the Gobel, from China but don't have the circuit breaker.
    I have noticed with my solis inverter that i was getting a major drift in the cells when set up for pylon lv, i have changed back to user defined, I'm still hitting 3.6 volts on one of the cells and this causes an over voltage and stops the charge, which is fine as a safety method, i don't have an active balancer installed as of yet. I monitored the batteries when charging to 100%, but there is only a small window when the balancing commences, The charge rate lowers the closer it gets to 100% but not enough time to balance the cells.
    My voltage charge rate is set to 56 volts, i have a floating voltage of 55 volts for 5 minutes at 3 amps, and a battery over protection voltage of 55.5.
    While charging the battery to 100% yesterday i noticed the voltage got to 55.2 and one of the cells got to 3.6 volts and stopped the charge.
    Can you guys let me know if these voltages are correct?
    Or am i doing something wrong,
    If i increased the charge voltage will that make a difference?

    • @daughydoc
      @daughydoc Рік тому

      Also Andy, I noticed you changed the cell under volt protection from 2.7 to 2.5 volts, my question is, do you have to change the pack under voltage also, in the settings of your BMS, the under voltage protection for the pack is 40 volts?
      My BMS is set to 2.5 volts under volt protection for the cells, you said in a previous video to stop discharging at 3 volts per cell, should this be changed back after your test in the BMS settings?

    • @OffGridGarageAustralia
      @OffGridGarageAustralia  Рік тому

      Thanks for your message and questions.
      First of all, it seems your charging numbers are not correct. Your charge voltage (56V) is set higher than the overvoltage protection (55.2). That makes no sense.
      Set the OVP to 58.4V and forget about it. Set the charge voltage to 55.2V and see if still one cell peaks. You haven't told us what battery and BMS you have so not sure what kind of balancer it has.
      At the lower end, my 2.5V settings are only required for my testing. In the real world, there is basically no capacity left under 3.0V, so leave yours siting on 2.7V, totally fine. The pack under voltage protection can be 2.7V x 16 or I would set it to 44V or 45V just in case. The inverter should shut down at 48V, so before reaching that voltage.

    You'll want to check Windows power management settings on any PC you run for long periods. By default, Windows is set to be pretty conservative. I always disable USB selective suspend, and set everything to be always on (including monitor, I prefer to turn monitor off myself when desired instead of letting the PC do it). Annoying thing is you have to check often, because windows loves to update itself and revert these settings. Dell Optiplex (I generally only see them and deal with them in business/commercial environments) may also have its own power management settings in BIOS in addition to the usual Windows settings.

    I have a slightly offtopic question. A friend of mine who recently moved to Germany has a quote from the power company for connecting the power. They are asking more than €2000 to reconnect it. It was turned off years ago before he bought the house.
    Everything looks fine with nice hager box, a 3 phase meter installed and some kWh on it. Is this a normal amount in that situation?
    For this kind of money and the yearly cost I am thinking of helping him go offgrid as he has very little to power. But my German is not good, it is far away for me to drive, and I don't know what is allowed.
    Is there anyone who can tell me why this is so expensive or knows how to get them to lower the amount if it is incorrect? Maybe it's me, but reconnecting power should be not much more than putting in some new fuses.
