1:56 and Terrie...omg. She got _so_ much worse. Her body was swelling up. 💔 I’ve seen several of her earlier ones. Early 50s is way too fucking young to die. The disease ate her from the inside out, making her look over 100 years old. May she Rest In Peace, and I applaud her courage. She may have saved _many_ lives before the cancer took hers.
I have an idea for an anti- smoking ad. Four people sit down at a table. One pulls out a revolver. And then pulls out a cigarette. He loads it into the revolver. Then a voice says. "Smoking is like playing Russian Roulette". While the voice speaks the people each take turns. " Every time you smoke it's your turn". A person has now picked up the revolver. "Feeling lucky? Take a turn". The person fires the revolver. It doesn't fire the cigarette. He hands it to the next person. " Smoking kills". The person fires and gets the cigarette to the head. He falls down dead. "It's your turn...." The next player picks the revolver up and loads another cigarette. "So again I ask. Feeling lucky?". Fade to black. Writing appears. Hundreds of people die from smoking related diseases. Don't gamble away your life. The sound of a shot being fired cuts in. More writing appears. It could be you receiving the next one. End.
heres why that dosent work if you knew more about guns you would understand that there is no revolver caliber the size of a cigarette and you would need a massive revolver to make that work if not the cigarette would keep getting crushed each time you inserted the cyclinder back into the chamber Think before you speak Ugg now i need a cigarette 💨🚬
Marshmallow Same here buddy Same here I knew someone who smoked, and we were able to get him rehab and help, but others are not so fortunate. Smoking is so gross
debi and terrie did so much for smokers. they weren’t there to be an example of the harm. they were outspoken, giving courage to those who are having trouble. they’re telling us what they wish they knew. it may have been too late for them, but they didn’t want it to be too late for anyone else. may they rest in peace.
Yeah it's not a thing to be taken lightly, cancer I kills hopefully they come up with a cure to save more cancer patients and more people can smoke with on less thing to worry about.
I remember Terrie's ads from when I was really little. Her voice scared me to the point that I learned to recognize the 'Tips From A Former Smoker' beginning card so I could run out of the room. Poor lady.

Yes, & the MAJORITY of them don't end like this. These anti smoking campaigns are nothing but fear mongering. In the 1950s, the majority of America smoked, yet there was less cancer than there is now. THAT should tell you something.
***** First of all, people smoked LONG before the 50s. You apparently know nothing about history. Secondly, Doctors can can take almost ANY illness, & call it "smoking related" if the person is a smoker. Sorry, but the real science just doesn't support these anti smoking fear mongering campaigns.
One week out and I have no desire to go back. I love my life, I love my fiancé, I love my family and most importlantly I love myself. There are 1000 reasons why you should quit. Good luck people. Choose life over cigarettes.
My mom smoked up until I was around 11 years old. I am now 14. I've had shortened breath since I was 6. Tip to parents: don't smoke around your kids, unless you wanna fuck 'em up, and kill their breath at a young age.
The "every cigarette is doing you damage" ones from Australia convinced me to quit 🤮 when I saw the blood clot in the brain from the smoker aged 38, I was like "That's only another 9 years for me!" 😱
Old Man Grandpa She didn't know it back then when she was a teen, if smokers know that they will end up like her, nobody would ever smoke again. There are smokers who reached 70-80 or some even near 90, which is quite a high age for a daily smoker, but these people are just the ones who had luck and the chance that you die of a illness caused by smoking is bigger.
I’m pretty young and I have friends my age that are starting to smoke, I thought I would try it because they described it as “cool, feels nice” but after watching these, I don’t want to even pick up a cigarette.

Here's a story I like to share. When I was in third grade someone (I don't remember who but probably someone from an organization like Truth) brought two real pig lungs into my classroom. One was perfectly healthy, and the other was black and shriveled from secondhand smoke because the farmer was a smoker. A room full of 3rd graders was taught to dangers of secondhand smoke (and what that is) by looking at real lungs affected by it. Ever since then I've held my breath whenever I have to pass someone who's smoking.

Edit: I've scaped the Internet, and apparently it increases the risk of babies dying from SIDS and increases the risks of respiratory and ear infections for kids.
Everything featured in the countdown are normal effects of smoking. You rarely see younger smokers with cancer caused by smoking due to the solid fact that cancer itself can take a long time to develop. Inhaling any substance that is toxic (especially on a daily basis in copious amounts) is definitely going to harm you physiologically in the long run.
+HelloImAPizza It is not normal effect of smoking. If it was "normal" effect of smoking majority of smokers would be like that, instead of living to average age of death in compareable health to non-smokers. Saying it's normal effect of smoking is literally the same as saying that death by trauma to the head is normal effect of driving. It's not. Not saying it is not possible serious damage to body mind you, just don't misuse words when describing it.
One of my good friends smoked a cigarette every 2 minutes. She had lung cancer and had to be taken to the doctor very frequently. My Grandmother and I inspired her to quit smoking. We knew she couldn't do it on her own, so we pushed her through it. Now from the help from the Rehab Center and an Electric Cigarette she quit smoking.
I showed this to my dad and he still won't try to stop I'm scared because he might not even live to see me graduate little to anything see my sister or my children and it makes everyone around him miserable but he doesn't care...
Keep going!! My friend's parents used to smoke, when the younger brother was warned all about smoking at school, he was terrified!! He kept persuading his parents to quit, on and on until the parents officially quit smoking on his birthday
Braden Denson you think thats bad? tobacco companies often had doctors endorse them in the 50's it said "more doctors smoke camels than any other cigarette" if that was a proctologist, he'd be blowing smoke up your ass
Thank you. We need to get people to stop smoking, and if possible, to quit even making cigarettes. Thank you for trying to end this, no matter how feeble the effort is. Thank you. I bet this one video has inspired possibly millions of people to quit.
Okay, I have an idea for an anti smoking ad. Pictures of the damage smoking does to the inside of the body appears on the screen. A voiceover says, “if you don’t quit when this is the damage being done..” after that, a picture of a extremely deformed person appears on the screen. The voiceover then says ‘but would you quit if this was the damage being done?” Then, the voice over says, “what if we told you this is the real damage that will occur if you don’t quit” an ex smoker with a hole in their neck, damaged teeth and no hair from cancer treatment appears and says ‘ if you can’t bear to look at me, quit now, before this is what you look like” the screen fades to black, and cigarette smoke goes across, and forms into a helpline.
Poor Janice. I'm sure she won't have lived much longer. :(

I can't be the only one here that thinks they shouldn't be using scare tactics
+SPICY~MAX Scaring people works better than inspiring them. Basic psychology, sadly...
+SPICY~MAX Do you have a better idea because most people are not very wise or just plain dumb.
I don't know, maybe showcase the more realistic more normal effects of smoking (raspy voice, black lungs)
Every time I watch this my throats feels funny and I start coffinging
These videos are helping me to make sure not to smoke nor sleep ever again

Edit:my grandma died 5 days later
One of my good friends smoked a cigarette every 2 minutes. She had lung cancer and had to be taken to the doctor very frequently. My Grandmother and I inspired her to quit smoking. We knew she couldn't do it on her own, so we pushed her through it. Now from the help from the Rehab Center and an Electric Cigarette she quit smoking.
Annual Dawson Oh, my gosh...one cigarette every 2 minutes? Seriously? That's awful! I'm so glad she quit, though. :)

HOW ARE SOME OF THESE EVEN ALLOWED TO BE AIRED ON TV?
High School Harley Because people need to know the truth!
The voiceover then says ‘but would you quit if this was the damage being done?”
Then, the voice over says, “what if we told you this is the real damage that will occur if you don’t quit” an ex smoker with a hole in their neck, damaged teeth and no hair from cancer treatment appears and says ‘ if you can’t bear to look at me, quit now, before this is what you look like” the screen fades to black, and cigarette smoke goes across, and forms into a helpline.
strangely enough this makes me feel like I want to smoke one right now
