I don’t play helldivers, but it’s not just about the “inconvenience,” it’s about the principle. Absolutely no reason a PSN account should be forced, and of course, the regional bans for PSN is a huge factor. First it was Tarkov with their EOD, and now Sony with helldivers. What’s next?
I understand and agree that it's annoying to create and log into an extra service just so you can play the game. But I think Helldivers 2 gets way too much flak for this. There are several console-first games on PC that are also popular on PC and they also require an additional login. A good example is the Rock Star games. I believe that there have always been people who have been against this, but I saw a lot of public opposition to the game, which is otherwise good, which I have not seen on a similar level with other games.
Well, if it is really a principle that is also used with other games, then I respect it. People have the right to think whatever they want and make almost any decision based on these values.

The principle behind this is that forcing everyone on Steam to link a PSN account while being in a country where YOU CANNOT CREATE ONE, is very close to theft. That's the issue. Not simply the link. Knowingly blocking customers that paid and used a product, cause you, I mean SONY, do not think they live in a relatively big market and therefore do not provide your services there, is unacceptable. The game costs 30$ approximately, it is not a Free to Play. That's the issue. I mean, there are other ways to get people to link accounts... Give a free cosmetic or something similar.
It's not that big if a deal IF you trust Sony despite the almost yearly data breaches AND you live in a country where you can have a PS account.
