Part of the complaint is that snow white is being played by a Latino. As if we don't remember why she was called snow white. Lips as red as the rose, hair black as ebony her skin white as snow. It's like making a movie about Martin Luther king but casting an Irish actor. And no I'm not in anyway being a rasist I'm just angry that disney is taking an istablished story and twisting it beyond recognition.

People have right not to see a movie for any reason. Movies are entertainment. Entertainment are luxury not necessity. It has nothing to do with being progressive. Why are we a bad guys for not wanting to watch a certain movie? We can spend our hard earned money any way we want to. Don't we have that right?

With the Little Mermaid, changing the race didn't matter because Mermaids aren't friggin real. I hate the new Little Mermaid because they changed the ending; in the original animated version, Eric voluntarily entered the fight and killed the sea witch. I was 10 when this movie came out and I remember thinking, it's about time he does something; Ariel gave up her home, voice, and even her lower body to be w/ him! It's about time he did something to show everything Ariel gave up wasn't for nothing. In the new version though, Gods forbid the female be saved by the male, so they made Ariel an experienced sailor despite never having been on a boat to see how it's done (and no, sitting and watching them party doesn't count, no one can learn to sail that way). So in the live-action movie, Eric is resorted to a useless nothing who doesn't deserve the incredible woman Ariel.
Well, Disney doesn't control me, I either like what they put out or I don't. But I personally have no problem that they own Star Wars and Marvel Entertainment. You can't have a hit with everything you do, they can't all be winners. And I really don't have any interest in Disney's live action remakes of their classic animated movies anyway. I did like Aladdin, but that was the exception, not the rule. And both Whoopi and Joy Behar are both in a lot of hot water for the things theyve said and done!
I do agree the story should change to better it, for example, having a deep dive on the 3 main characters, Snow White, the prince, and evil stepmother. Having more information on why, like why the stepmother turned her appearance for jeliously or to be the fairest of t all (power) , the prince why he fall in love to snow white and snow white why her got close with the 7 Dwarfs. I kinda wonder if those changes will better the movie.
What would happen if Hollywood were to cast Christ as a Black man and his disciples as non-binary transwomen, or, remade Pearl Harbor with Swedes as Japanese? Would the woke openly accept and support the diversity in casting? WE could have The Rock play Julius Caesar and Channing Tatum as Martin Luther King.
The problem isn't that the person is Latina irl. A Latina can naturally look fair enough for a role like this, and a white woman doesn't have to. They both can also use makeup or technology to look more similar to the needed description. The problem is a person who refuses to look the way she should to accurately portray the character.
