For real your channel deserves to be bigger man you put out amazing products! Beautiful work man, as always..
Thank you for your support!!
Dang the swirls and stuff look good. It looks amazing. Nice blade design as well.
Thank you!
Pattern is absolutely stunning, just reminds me of japanese art for some reason
The coffee really gave it some good contrast! Thanks for sharing.
It was a fun experiment. Thanks for watching!
Ohhh man, so I had purchased a damascus kershaw shallot off ebay and it was trashed the guy had put some type of grease on it to try and preserve the blade when really it ended up becoming a sticky mess similar to cosmoline on old Russian firearms and such... So i took it apart and sanded the crap and rust off the blade down to a 1500 grit then used green stropping compound on a cloth buffing wheel then i soaked her in fresh brewed cup of coffee with a few extra scoops of coffee grinds and BAMMM i swear it looks like a brand new blade again only the pattern is even better now than new lol
After this video i did the same for my Knife and the result was mind blowing ! THX a lot man!!
Awesome!! As always!!!
Appreciate it!
Awesome work Brad looking forward to part two..ATB NOBBY in the UK
Thanks for watching!
Hey Brad, I really enjoy your channel and videos. Thanks,
Question: why don't you fold your Damascus instead of cutting it? It seems better than cutting? You don't lose metal that way?
FOLD...more!!
That does it for me, NO MORE COFFEE! I wonder what my intestines look like. Oh, but enough about me, this was a great video.
haha thanks for watching!
Beautiful damascus!. I wish i can have one
I just subscribed about 30 minutes ago and am already loving the channel, now I am going to have a big request here as a new sub, but it would be really interesting/awesome if you did a big project making a taiga manchette...I personally love the look of this knife and seeing how amazing your forging/blacksmithing is it would be just truly amazing!
Thanks for subscribing! That sounds like a cool build, maybe I'll give it a shot sometime!
exquisite pattern, very hi contrast.
have you ever used michigan tetracoral & chain coral fossils for the handle scales?
i think petoski, favosites & halysites would look very cool.
GEODEAHOLIC M I have yet to try this. I live in Traverse City, MI and find Petoskeys all the time, just none large enough for more than an accent or spacer.
@@RichardsonForge i am a geologist, in the mid 70's i did a pilgrimage to petoski to look for their beautiful tetracorals, i also once went to traverse city to ski.
in the big box hardware stores you can buy boxes of 1 foot square by about 3/8ths tiles of polished marble, diabase, & some kinds of granite & labrodorite. i have a diamond saw that could rough cut some scales if you provide the rock.
fossil dinosaur bone would be another cool material to use, but that's getting Seriously expensive cuz the drooling idiot "know it all" busybody nannies in 1 aspect or another of the government cancer have banned further collection of it from public lands.
Less folds equals bolder pattern, very nice sir.
Thanks!
Beautiful!
i have followed you but no success, the surface is still the same when soaked in fecl3. can you give me the recipe to make it better? Thanks
Did you do the coffee dunk while it still had acid on it
Um Brad,,,,,, we're gonna need you to start cranking out two three videos a day okay? Need to feed the addiction ya know lol 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
haha maybe one day! Thanks for watching!
Brad I just noticed you are in Michigan... I am also in Mi. We're a outs are you I'm near Toledo but grew up in Standish. Perhaps we could collaborate on something. I in process of editing a Bowie style blade I call a Michigan tooth pick. Anyway keep up the great work .... Martin
any bladesmiths near alpena? i've been making knives for 13 years , and will be moving there shortly...
I'm South of Detroit and North of Toledo Ohio
What Grit are you using to sand the FeCl? Looks great fyi!
Hmmmmm. Just thinking wounderful if one were to cold blue a Damascus blade after etching then sand lightly. Hmmmmmmm.
Can you do the coffee technique on a store bought Damascus blade to make the color pop more
When its real damascus yes
I heard the coffee etch is temporary and when you cut something it comes off.. is this true?
Not trying to beat up on this build but I noticed something I have not seen before and can not tell from the video. This is a full flat grind right? The question I have or shall I say can not see is the way you ground her did you bring the grind all the way up past the spine? Love this build and the Damascus is proper.. Thanks again, Martin
Very nice
9:04 😱
Like, then watch the video! I'm sure it's good!
Lol i do that too😂 they are always deserving of a thumbs up
Wow thank you! haha
I'm from Norway
Right on! Thanks for tuning in!
What is the etching recipe?
Nice work .. The coffee works great huh.. Why not share the recipe with all? But I have used the cheapest coffee instant and the process seems to result in the same beauty. Just wondering if the recipe was the same or tweeted a tad. I do also ask about the sharpening notch. Is that what you intend it to be or is it just for looks? Thanks and great video as always... Martin
Never mind about the notch lol.. I should have read the comments first... Martin
What’s your recipe
what the music name bro?
Awesome technique! Love the contrast!
Thank you! Happy with these results.
Can i have one of your knife..
subscribe for this video, very nice!
Thanks, dude! I'm so looking forward to getting this knife!
Your Norwegian friend
Thank YOU! Excited to get this one wrapped up!
I’m making it a mission to comment on everyone of your vids and show support because you deserve it.
Wow! I really appreciate it, thank you!
How did you retain the etch for long term?
Good stuff
Came for the thumbnail, stayed and subbed for the editing, quality, and skill! Awesome job man, keep it up! Insane how your channel hasn't blown up yet, but I see it happening soon!
cold coffee over night is fine, easy as, heating the coffee is pointless other than the initial blending...
Possible brother tell me what this article is in the video when i put the knife in it and it became engraved
what do you normally use to etch?
what allows those effects on the blade? an acid?
U need to sand and go up in grit to 2000 or more 5k really and dip in between like dip sand at 220 dip 400 dip 800 dip 1200 dip 2000 so 4 etch sessions getting more and more deep and polished...keep the sand paper on a piece of wood and go back and forth w even strokes...then once cleaned and neturalized lightly buff the blade with white rouge if u want a shun mirror polish if not it will have an ultra smooth and dark finish and be clean but almost look like paint not shitty Pakistan Damascus....
Good job but I want explanation on what you are using and why you are doing it talk during the process
It looks like FeCl3
Is a coffee etch actual coffee
Yes strong Pulver coffe (10 spoons on 1 Liter)
My pleasure man!! Keep up the awesome work!
Thanks Joe!
Beautiful Damascus and nice Knife. But I'm confused by where you added the choil. To my understanding it should be on the blade side of the plunge line to aid with sharpening. Being on the Handle side of the Plunge line is it purely decorative and just for show?
Darren Szmata this is purely decorative, I tried this on the last blade I did too. Guess I could’ve made the groove bigger to not appear like a choil.
It is a gorgeous Blade! I meant no offense I am just soaking in knowledge so thought I would ask!
None taken! Thank you!
Superbe travail
