This song hits deeper knowing the movie was planned to be the end of the series. Feels like you’re giving one last goodbye
It feels like the series died after the movie
All other official spongebob content made afterwards feels soulless
@@TheMagnumDon Mysterious Mr enter: you want to know where SpongeBob went downhill?, may 20 2005 the day good neighbours aired
POV: it’s 2004 and you’re sitting in the theater. You’ve just sat through the best 82 minutes of your life. The wonderful Ocean Man has just played its last chord as the bubble transition takes you to a scene of rolling blue waves…
Fuck you I'm gonna cry 😂
It’s a good feeling :’)
Nostalgic
Damn...
I was really young when the film came out {young as in born two months before the movie came out in the first place} but seeing it on VHS years later was awesome
i just realized that in the movie when they were in the fish bowl spongebob said where are we and patrick said " some kind of psychic wall of energy
WHAT DID YOU DO TO MY DRINK?! Ohhh, now that song title makes a whole lot more sense.
Wooooow XD
We all know thx
Yeah
I didn't do anything to your drink!!! It was spongebob!
So weird that this song can stand completely on its own.
ummm noon
Maybe on crab legs!
A good song is a good song, even if it's written for a movie or show meant for kids.
It’s crazy how a song made for the credits could do that just goes to show the little fantastic touches of the SpongeBob movie
What the fuck does that even mean
I think what I like most about the song is that, assuming the world and characters of SpongeBob never existed, everything from the title to the lyrics to the video sounds exactly like some random and wild song The Flaming Lips would've dreamt up on their own. Haha
My dad worked on this! He's a special effects coordinator in Austin! I have vague memories of my mom taking my older sister and me to visit the set. I was too young to realize that I was hanging out in the same room as one of my, now, favorite bands
Well thank him for my our childhoods!
That's kina sick ngl😂😂👍
That's awesome!!
I live in Austin and I'm now involved in the music/film scene, this movie is one of my absolute favorites and will always be a treasure. That is so insanely cool that your dad worked on this!!!
Dude my aunt is the executive direction of the AFS and I also visited the set and it’s SO WEIRD SEEING THIS
The people under the tongue should have been dressed as pickles.
The Mighty Lutiff BUBBLE ASS!!!!
Ryan Burr *S T I L L N O P I K C L E S*
Ryan Burr from season 1's "pickles". I'm basically a Spongebob encyclopedia
(gasps.) BUBBLE BASS!
Well played
R.I.P. Stephen Hillenburg, your music taste was as impecable as your storytelling
Anyone who uses Tiny Tim in their first episode is likely worth your attention.
Amazing, btw, how Spongebob changed his most popular song for whole generations from "Tiptoe Through the Tulips" to "Living in the Sunlight, Loving in the Moonlight."
Such a good song. "To be thought of as a king, you don't need a crown."
This song and Ocean man always reminds me about my younger self and mostly the beach. Such good memory.
Yes, that is very true. SpongeBob is still good, even now a second movie, let be lucky if there is a third movie.
+Austin Voelker thanks for acknowledginng that
+Austin Voelker There is going to be a third movie.
REALLY!!!
Listen to more Ween. The mollusk isn't a bad place to start, but I can reccomend easier albums to get into if that's a problem.
Cannot get through this song without shedding a tear. The nostalgia is so overwhelming. I wish I could be 8 again.
sing the lyrics
Dude this is from 2013 how old are you 15?
@@heatedoyster2 is from 2004, duh
Same
KillMeKillMe I was 12 years old when that movie came out.
Spongebob and the Flaming lips.... how many smiles have these two entities inspired ? I'm guessing, a lot...
yeah man at least like three
100 bruh
makes me cry almost everytime, reminds me of my daughter.
Aw man :)
Hope everything is well
she dead
@@YankstaNZ that's in poor taste
💔 me too remind my sister she loves this song, a big huge
Memories are a sweet sadness, sometimes.
Bringing tears, but also joy.
I hope you find the joy in yours.
The title of the song sounds like a youtube poop
Evanthecinemaguy "Spingebill and Potrock Ram their Assholes into a Psychic Wall of Gay"
So true
@@logasoba that's not funny!
@@Legomovie970 lol yes it is
@LogaSoba
Now, that’s more like it!
This song was sad before and now that Stephen Hillenburg passed away it makes me shed a thousand tears.
In a weird way, this song actually left quite an impact on me.
When I was young, I mostly just listened to standard kids music; pop tunes, anything fast and bright and silly and marketable. So when this movie came out and I got the soundtrack, this was my first time being exposed to this kind of music, music that was a bit more chill and atmospheric. It was kind of like coming across a mystery, a confusing but intriguing riddle. I knew I liked this song, I just couldn't really understand why. I still pop this in every once in a while just to relive that sweet, sweet time when everything was new and exciting and I didn't know the world was a terrible place quite yet :)
2004, the same year as Wilco's A Ghost is Born AND Modest Mouse's Good News for People Who Love Bad News. Hell of a year for music.
I loved hearing this song when the spongebob movie credits rolled as a kid.
Good for you. Music is great.
Yeah, the SpongeBob Movie's soundtrack is great and I'm sure it had a massive impact on my music tastes now
Don’t forget that beauty in this world outweighs the evil by a wide margin, and you can use your memory of coming across new and exciting music like this as just a small example. :))
Suddenly, My childhood wasn't ruined by something on the internet. And it was amazing.
Wow same😂
I really miss 2004
It was a year to be alive
Crazy how this movie will turn 20 later this year
Me too
easily one of the most bittersweet psychedelic bands i ever heard, breathtaking
I still believe and will always believe, that The spongebob movie is and always will be one of the best films of all time
when i was a kid, id always watch the full credits for this song especially. I recently rewatched it and watched through the credits and was able to find this song again. it almost makes me a little emotional. not to mention how criminally underrated it is
This song is criminally underrated
Much superior to the overrated ocean man if you ask me.
@@jerrywhoomst1116 nah, both are great
this is literally the only reason why the Spongebob Movie was/is the only movie i will watch the end credits for
Patrick, you see, I'm growing a mustache
And though I know I must ask you
Does it really make me look like a man?
SpongeBob, being a man is just a tough job
I hope you're picked to be the best SpongeBobs ever had
Working like a dog at the Krusty Krab
Now wait a minute
I think we hit a wall
I think we hit a psychic wall
Maybe we're just young
And we won't know 'til we're old
Too young to free ourselves
From this lonely fish bowl
Some kind of wall
Some kind of psychic wall
Some kind of wall
Some kind of psychic wall
We can get a burn
Come on, let's find a way to be happy
Not like Plankton, he will never be satisfied
Always complaining about his life
To his computer wife
You think he would've found by now
To be sought as a king
We don't need a burn
BigRybone 24 To be thought of as a king, you don’t need a crown
I thought it was "being a man is a tough job" too but it's actually "being a manager's a tough job" -- the mistake is more universal and less tied to the film, but the song really stands on its own. Ocean Man is great too...
now I wish it was 2004 again.
wiisalute fucking felt that
@@jonahberger9215 seriously, I saw this movie in theaters when I was 11 in my favorite mall I knew from childhood. Now the theater is no more. 27 now and I miss the simple days of good music and tv shows, ps2, gamecube, drake and josh and zoey 101. What the fuck happened?
wiisalute I was like 4 when it came out, but I remember seeing it in theaters. I’m 19 now and recently rewatched and I think that it honestly aged really well. It’s a good movie. And yeahhh, I still have my ps2 and my GameCube. They’re as old as me lmaoo
@@jonahberger9215 I still have my BK toys from 2000-2006 in the garage
Jonah Berger I was 5 when it came out when I first saw it at Showcase cinema in Liverpool back in December 2004 I’m 21 now. Oh god How I miss my childhood 😭😭
God bless this song... haven't teared up like this in years
Same man
Yeah it's weird even without the nostalgia The Flaming Lips are just really good at making people cry.
Rest In Peace, Stephen Hillenburg, Thank you for all captain.
Such a beautiful song, brings back so many memories of singing this to myself in a field in the summer of 2005 when I was 11
Me too :)
This song is the crown jewel of the movie soundtrack
I was like 9 when i first watched the Spongebob movie now i'm 23 and damn this brings back so much memories , i wish i was a child again being an adult kind of sucks tbh...
Literally same here except I’m 21 and probably saw it when I was like 4
Imagine this plays on the final episode of SpongeBob
Seen them play this live during soundcheck. They put on such a killer show
Those amazing summer nights of me watching this movie in my room alone when I was a kid, so much nostalgia. I remember when I would listen to the credit songs and lay on my room floor zoned out and filled with chill vibes, I miss those days.
I like how this deep song about childhood is based on a joke line Patrick says when they’re in the fish bowl
Considers the stuff Wayne Coyne has written songs about it's not very surprising
This song alongside the movie really hammer down the point that at the end of the day, Spongebob and Patrick have matured as people and are more prepared to tackle on harsher responsibilities than they were, even if they didn't necessarily grow mustaches to get there.
Until nickelodeon forced the show to continue which ruined everything I just said
Honestly, the whole theme of the movie "you can grow up without losing your child-like wonder" is so beautiful.
This song is what introduced me to the Flaming Lips
R.I.P. Stephen Hillenburg
well, spongebob really knows how to make me cry
Sure does
The Flaming Lips are great at it as well. It's the 'ol one two punch
RIP Stephen, this place is not the same without you. 😢
This song is anout conquering Adulthood! I get it now. :)
A lot of their songs are about overcoming obstacles, especially anything off At War With The Mystics or Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots.
@@Brendo.Entertainment.System ?
The end credits waves just felt relaxing to look at
Rest in peace Stephen.
I remember first seeing the video on MTV before the movie came out here. I've been listening to the band since then. also got into ween after they performed "Loop de Loop" on an episode and got to Pantera because of a remix playing during an episode.
thanks Spongebob for introducing me to awesome music!
+Mer Feraine And don't forget ocean man by ween in spongebob the movie :)
+Dunter Flinn I still have it on my Ipod. Oh! how could I forget Motorhead's version of you better run that appeared in the bar scene. and now N.E.R.D. did a song for the second film. preparing the future generation musically
Mer Feraine yeah. but the N.E.R.D song is not that amazing compared to the first soundtrack, in the movie the song works though.
Ween is the greatest band of all time.
Spongebob is your generation’s Neversoft.
honestly if spongebob ended after the movie itd feel so much more satisfying than where we are rn, this song feels like such a conclusion
I love this song! I love the whistle beginning and end, and also when they say "Come on! Lets find a way to be happy!"
my childhood was great, I'm 19 now
same :)
I'm only 15 but my childhood was still great
+burntworw I'm 15 years old still loving my childhood character..... Spongebob & Patrick .
So am I :O
I'm 14 and it was good to
NOSTALGIA OVERLOAD!
I had no idea this song was by the Flaming Lips!
man this song talks to me so many years later, it's well written aswell as the show was
Rest In Peace Stephen Hillenburg :(
I heard this when I was like 9 on the credits of the SpongeBob movie, and I'd sing it like all the time, then when I was like 13, I heard their cover of Dark Side of the Moon, which got me into them, and later on in my Lips experience, I discovered that THEY made this song!!! THE COSMOS!!!!!
I wish I never heard this song, so I can hear it again for the first time.
Who is so used to listening to the credits that expected the drums from "Wilco-Just a Kid" to roll in at the end?
Crazy to think that this Kids Movie had Wilco, Flaming Lips and Ween in the Soundtrack.
and Motorhead
Such great bands though
I can’t believe I’m just learning that the flaming lips made this bruh Steph’s taste was unfathomably based
There’s really something magical about this song, the crossroads of one of my favorite bands and favorite cartoons to make a genuinely incredible song about growing up and forging a path that brings you fulfillment. Beautiful track
gotta love it. R.i.p Hillenburg. 🤘😔
This will remind me of one of the many major parts my childhood forever, this song's a part of me.
I AM FUCKING IN LOVE WITH THIS BAND!
The Flaming Lips.
2:38-2:48 is my favourite part and because of the lyrics, the way they sing it and because of the instrumental track behind it. Love this sing.
Hadn’t heard this in like 15 years but I replaced “SpongeBob” with my son’s name in the lyrics the other day and it’s been all I can think about
I love spongebob to death. But deep deep down inside of me I feel like had they ended the series with the first movie I would’ve been completely fine with that because that would’ve been one hell of a way to end a series with a great movie with a great soundtrack
Creamy Pickle YES literally what I think, I mean I’d have been sad, but it would’ve been a nice ending.
From what I understand, that's what Stephen Hillenburg wanted to do.
What do you mean?
The series ended with the movie...
I've always liked this song and finally discover it was made by the lips, I realize why
This has always and will always be my favorite song. good times
Awesome song ^_^
This is the most profound piece of music I have ever experienced in my life.
The ending was great with the flute
RIP Stephen Hillenburg
The spongebob movie got me into 2 of my favourite bands, Ween and The Flaming Lips
I'll forever be thankful to that movie and everybody involved for that
rip Stephen Hillenburg :c
Me: This song is good-
My brain: Think about the 2010s.
Me: I don't wanna be s-
My brain: I SAID WE NOSTALGIC TODAY
I can't believe i was today years old when I realized my favorite band not only wrote an original for the Broadway musical but also for the first SpongeBob movie!!! I remember when I first saw this music video, I was just in a seafoamy trance and felt like I was one with Bikini Bottom. It just seemed so Nickelodeon/SpongeBob. I got to see the lips live for the first time last month too. Just saw the musical at a local theater. I feel like it's all come full circle now and I'm very okay with this 💛
RIP Stephen Hillenburg!
Hidden gem
Thank you Stephen Hillenberg for your creation that is continuing on with us through the physic wall from childhood to adulthood, that yellow sponge, and his pink starfish pal help us more than we could ever thought. Rest in peace at the seabed of the Pacific man.
even when they're asked to write a song for a film, it's SO the flaming lips in lyrics and sound and tone. love this band. was this ever actually in the film or the credits?? i love the spongebob movie, but i don't remember this song at all.
This was the second song that played during the credits of the movie. You probably never heard the song if you watched the movie on the Nick channel
All these years of knowing this song and I just now learned there was an official music video.
why is this song such a bop
Spongebob and the flaming lips are a match made in heaven!
I know, right? Just so amazing.
Why is this song so good
I seriously never knew there was a music video till today
I just love the Lips so much! I hope others like me will listen to them in 200 years...
Lets us never remember modern spongebob. The show ended with this masterpiece movie and soundtrack.
The second movie was pretty good too. It was at least the best SpongeBob has been in 11 years.
ElfHostage the first movie was apparently suppose to be the final of Spongebob Squarepants
FadingSymbolism it was
The creator Stephen hillenburg intended for the movie to be the finale as he didn't want the show to jump the shark, but nickelodeon got greedy and wanted more episodes.
TheGunmode3 exactly... and it's ironic because the show jumped the shark... and it's spongebob and... the ocean... and stuff...
I love this song. Feels so chill.
10/10 song
Wtf/10 video
I never knew the Flaming Lips wrote this song. Awesome
This was one of another good song’s to end SpongeBob’s first movie in theaters
Everyone always talks about Ocean Man and Goofy Goober Rock but never this masterpiece
The real question is, what music video are they preparing for?
This song reminds me when i was 9 y.o, so much memories :_(
I uses to listen to this album all of the time when I was younger. Now that I can actually listen to lyrics and understand them, there are a suprising amount of deep or understanding songs.
i remember i loved this song when i first heard from the movie as kid i tried looking for the soundtrack at the record store but they don't know what i was talking bout, at long last i finally found this song :)
This music is Nostalgic from my childhood
This is the greatest music ever
why am I crying stop it
no stop
no no no, pizza vampire doesnt get sad, he thinks about pizza and gets happy again!
Steven Stevenson Amen brother
Shane Smith dafuqs wrong with you 2?
THE NOSTALGIAS OH GOD
I love Flaming Lips. And this song is okay. I'm glad they did it.
This movie came out 2 days before my birthday. It was my birthday gift to see the movie and get the movie soundtrack on CD. I loved that yellow cover with spongebobs dumb smile. I'ma have to buy that CD again cuz it brings me back to my goofy goober days. As seen on my profile pic of me outside spy kids 3D
Apparently they performed this on letterman the night before the movie was released, hadn't heard it before and I definitely welled up a couple times
this song means so much to me.

Honestly if I hadn't ever heard of the movie, I could totally imagine The Flaming Lips just doing a song about Spongebob; like an early 2000s "Magneto and Titanium Man" lol
