  • Another comment section recommendation and another band I've never heard of until those comments rolled in. Once again I'm going in totally blind. Will I like what Hanabie has to offer? And is what the have to offer several cakes?
Thanks for getting In The Pit! Have a song you think I would like? Leave a comment below and if I haven't heard it, I'll put it on the list.

Yukina the vocalist does both the growls and the kawaii voices. Guitarist Matsuri does the traditional style vocals. Bassist Hettsu was the one singing (more so rapping) in the 2nd verse but usually doesn't sing much outside of backing vocals. Live concerts they use backing tracks since Yukina can't sing both her parts simultaneously of course. I'll be seeing them live tomorrow night.

They are excellent at time changes, genre flips, heavy riffs and transitions. Love em. The overall Japanese metal/rock scene is fantastic & IMO the best in the world. Dive deeper with all these bands. It just get's better.

Ahhhhh .... I disagree ... I think the structure of this song is very close to perfect. I have listened to it a gazzilion times, both with and without reactions. I think it is very well made and the rap section that go more and more intense at the end is the icing on the cake (sic!). And I do not even like rap! That said, we all have our own opinions.

Yeah, I love the arrangement. Verse, verse, verse, breakdown, verse, cutesie interlude, verse and outro. All verses different, and no chorus.

@@bandmaidfanATL Someone with music ear also found out that there are two kind of sections of the song. Sections that have chord progression and are melodic and sections that are one chord only, more spoken word.

Have you ever listened to Maximum the Hormone. Hanabie started in middle school as a MtH cover band. MTH is well known for jarring genre, feels and time changes in their songs. Hanabie also does crazy unexpected parts like the outdo rap, the fans dig the chaos of it all.

    Welcome to Harajukucore!
Thanks for reacting to Hanabie (Ha-na-be-eh). They refer to their distinct sound as _Harajukucore,_ a mix of metal, punk, electronic, pop, and rap. The name comes from the Harajuku district which is famous for its trendsetting street fashion, music and art scene. You can definitely see and hear those influences in the video.
Hanabie are Matsuri - guitar, vocals, compositions. Yukina - clean and harsh vocals. Hettsu - bass and vocals. Chika - drums. This video features their former drummer, Sae.
This song and the album were produced by Gaku Taura, drummer for *Crystal Lake.* He saw the potential in this band and took them under his wing, even filling as a support drummer when they needed one. He and Matsuri did an amazing job on the production of the album *Girls Reform Manifest.* 'We Love Sweets' is a song about sugar addiction. I believe the rapping section at the end is supposed to represent a sugar high and eventual crash. Yukina's vocals get higher and higher until she starts to fall off and eventually ends in her final harsh guttural voice.
Here's a few song recommendations for you - 'Otaku Lovely Densetsu', 'Be the GAL - early summer ver.', 'NEET GAME', 'Envy', 'Reiwa Dating Apps Generation', 'Tousou' (run away).
If you want to hear the band explain to an audience how to pronounce their name, here's the link - ua-cam.com/video/jrJUgkxIlUo/v-deo.html

To be fair, they do a good bit of vocal backing tracks live. There are plenty of fancams out there, in fact, there are some already up from last night. In one, dude in a wheelchair is crowdsurfing.🤘

If you want something heavy by them check out "Our 7 days war" it doesn't have a official video but there is a fan made video, or check out "Love Ranbu" it also doesn't have a video. Hanabie. are known for there gerne flips and time changes, i would recommend "Be the GAL" its a great song to start the early summer with and it has a good video. I will also add Hanabie. goes insane live!

Welcome to HANABIE’s “write-through” style of composition, which dispenses the expected verse/chorus, etc.
REIWA MATCHING GENERATION and BE THE GAL, EARLY SUMMER VER., are two masterpieces with excellent videos.
BTW, the band’s name is 花冷え (a literary allusion which means, literally, chilled flowers), pronounced はなびえ, which is spelled (following the Hepburn system) with the Roman characters HANABIE, and sounds a lot like, “Ha-Na-Bi-Eh.”

The E at the end of hanabie makes an eh sound like the Canadian stereotype phrase.

If you really want to have some fun, check out Otoboke Beaver. For you, I would suggest "I Checked Your Cellphone." Drumming is 🔥 Doesn't really matter which version, but there is a Seattle Public Broadcasting vid session live that is good quality.

I love that band. I just watched their NPR Tiny Desk concert over the weekend. And I definitely agree that the drummer is fantastic.

With Hanabie and Maximum The Hormone you have already gotten to know the two most creative Japanese metal bands. We don't know of any other bands that offer so much variety, not just from song to song, but also within the songs. In any case, stay tuned to both of them.
If you are interested in a very experimental song by a Japanese rock band, you should watch/listen to the song Spiderweb by the band BRATS. For us it's one of the best songs we've ever heard, but unfortunately it's very underrated.

Death Magnetic's issue was the tracks were pushed to the point where they were brutally digitally clipping, introducing horrible sounding distortion to everything. I think the reissue of that album has been fixed now btw.. although everyone I know just downloaded the track rips from Guitar Hero which were completely unclipped and sounded excellent
Hanabie (eh! on the end. pronunciation guide here: jrJUgkxIlUo ) have no bad songs.. keep exploring

Hanabie = Harajukucore = 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Criticizing Hanabie’s arrangement is extremely risky. They are genius, which you will find out if you react to more of their music…

😭😭😭 you didn't jump. I'm sad. I ❤ when a new reactor get scared and surprise jump. It's my guilt pleasur. Why ? 😮‍💨 Nice reaction. You discover the cute little demon Yukina : clear and harsh vocal. Matsuri on guitare and clear vocal, Hettsu on Bass and chorus. On this song it's Sae behind Drums ,she left the band for personal reasons after the MV song Pardon Me . Now behind Drums it's their 4 th drummer Chika. She start AT MV tousou.
