I never thought chess openings could be used for flirting 💀
Ok
It wasn't flirting that move is an open insult saying I will beat you even without a proper opener.
Openings are overrated.
@@Joshwaheazo what's your elo?
@zangrat Right now? I have no idea. Peak was 1934 elo. I only played 30-90 minute formats though. I've never played a bullet match in my life.

Goes to show 1 a3 is not a bad move, just an unusual one that may lose one tempo. Pia rightly mentions Michael Basman who did very well in the 1980s with unusual openings taking opponents out of the book and avoiding their opening preparation. Anna's opponent helpfully explains his reasoning in the comments to the full video.
@@iankemp1131 it's basically like choosing to play black, a3 is a useful move in so many lines anyways

Crazy she can remember a game from the 80s where that move was played. GMs are on another level mentally.
I think chess is like battles, for them. I can remember some online battles in different videogames I had with friends from 25 years ago, or whole days in festivals with 40 bands. I could step by step tell you how they happened.
This shows how a stupid move will completely destroy opponents preparation..
I imagine it has to be pretty deflating to spend hours preparing for a game just to realize on the first move that you wasted your time and now have to spend hours playing a game with no preparation.
@@gausscohen4552 yeah it's like preparing for science exam and next day u realize it's maths exam imo..
No, this shows how stupid is playing with set openings, moves etc. from textbooks.
Can't you just play a white opening
Then it's not a stupid move now is it?
he even knew that she would go on a rollercoaster of emotions and that he would have enough time to go for a walk after that opening 😂

Those who know : 💀
???
any explanation
He basically called her dumb. Or in a more polite way to say: "you are not good enough to beat me so I will pass the first move to you and you can do anything, I don't care".
Yup what the above reply said. He basically called his homerun and subtly told her you will lose no matter how bad my start is. She likely smiled because of just how cheeky he was using his opening move to say it.
Or is he flirting by saying "here, just take it, I don't want to beat you"?
You know your opponent is clapping your ass when their first move is a3 or a6 💀
It was a good move psychologically. The guy probably figured Anna would overreach in an attempt to punish 1. a3. And I’m pretty sure that’s what happened.
not sure if she pursue the punishment, because I haven't watched the whole game, but she did lose that day.
@@loczek25853 I didn’t watch the whole game either, but I believe this was the game where she made unsound sacrifices, and I think unsound sacrifices are an indication of a chess player trying to punish his or her opponent
Trying to punish the move is as crazy as trying to solve chess, because he is simply just playing black after 1.a3. It's like saying in the starting position: I play white, I have the fist move, this is winning.
That glance up and down 😂
I love how confidently he played it 😂 he knew how much of a powerplay he has
We see who she gets her looks from.
Is this how chess people ask someone on a date?
He was clearly asking for some Netflix and chill, how did you miss that?
Imagine being horny over a chess video. Yall down bad
Chess is a lot like poker.
She also probably did research on him and how he plays and saw that he doesn't lose when playing a3 basically ever.
So he realised that she is horny (idk how to read facial expressions but I guess she is horny looking up and down) and decided to do a chad move on her. Also speaking is not allowed at all in chess.
This dude has his priorities in correct order.
Well. He gave away the opening to her with a worthless move, walked away, came back and still beat her. So really it's how chess people say you're not worth my time 😂
And Anna lost.
the girl lack any fundamental knowledge of the game, but somehow - idk why lol - see still seem to get quite some views.

Ah yes, the Anderssen opening. In fact Tartakower thought it isnt a bad move at all because it allows a big number of transpositions where a3 could be useful
Yep, I use it sometimes for a reverse najdorf
The Polish
Date in 1 move🤣
As a complete noob to chess, I don't understand what just happened?
Chess opening moves generally follow theory, which are studied set of moves (called lines) that result in the best possible positions for those who play them. Most high level chess players operate within opening theory, playing well known openings that have a high rate of success as well as using various studies counters to these openings
Pawn to A3 is a terrible move for many reasons, because it develops none of the pieces and doesn’t do anything to control the centre of the board which is where you can launch attacks from elsewhere. However, because it’s such a bad opening move no one studied it, meaning the dude’s opponent had no idea how to counter it
TL;DR, it’s a deliberately bad move to psychologically mess with an opponent who had no way of seeing it coming
@@cabbiecarmvp145genuinely thank you for your explanation!
People keep saying he’s flirting so is that really true
Okay, but I don't understand why it's 'flirting', and why he left the table.
@@Gruuvin1As a chess newbie myself, I think it’s because he gives away the advantage of going first (and bejng 1 move ahead in controlling the centre of the board) essentially giving her a gift or showing her he likes her.
Might not seem like much, but for very good players - the starting move is supposedly a pretty big thing.
"Im willing to do a stupid move just for you" smooth!
nope, pretty braindead to see it that way, it's obvious disrespect, and to completely negate theory, how is this not obvious?
@@anomaly3215”disrespectful, and completely ignores theory🤓☝️” it’s just a game and she smiled, so she didn’t take it as disrespectful.
@@anomaly3215he can play opening he want lol..she just need to punish him.well idk of she did in the end or nah..
"back in the 80s" bro, chess players are insane with their memory. I don't even remember what I had for dinner 2 days ago 😂

Your mum remembers a game of chess that her brother played 40 years ago?
Meanwhile I forget what my sister says after 40 seconds lol
It makes sense for Pia to remember it. a3 is a pretty disrespectful opening move, which makes her brother's failure more memorable
She's a chess GM and you're surprised she has good memory ? The whole game js about remembering stuff 😂
