    *Important Information*
    First, thanks for watching the video! Second, I recently listened to this solo and noticed I'm showing you a wrong note in this tutorial.
    At 2:39 I go over four notes that start the first fast run, I say the notes are C#-D-E-C# (2-b3-4-2 of B minor). However, the final note of that group of four is actually *D*, not C#. So it would sound like 2-b3-4-*b3*.
    Greatly apologize for the mistake, it won't happen again (hopefully)! Let me know if you find any others.

    I have no training in theory what so ever but you are an outstanding teacher in the way you explain so articulately. I've always wanted romlearn this solo and now I'm a fan of yours. Cheers!

    You are the only guy who has broken down the chords and explained the harmony and theory of the solo. Bravo!

      Thanks for checking the series out! The chords are pretty important, as they are the reason the solo sounds the way it does, not sure why many people don't talk about it!

    Your material is extremely high quality. The way you emphasise and instill understanding of the concepts/theory behind the solo is beyond amazing. Give a man a fish and he will be hungry again tomorrow, teach him how to fish and he will feed himself for a lifetime! I wonder if you also do analysis of metal solos? I would love to learn from your analysis of the solo to "tornado of souls" or "Lucretia" by Megadeth. But even if you don't I just wanted to let you know you are appreciated :)

      Appreciate it! I'm pretty sure I've taught both of those songs to students in the past, might be something I'll do in the future. Thanks for the idea!

    I love what you’re doing man. You’re a great teacher. I’m old enough to remember ruining more than a few phonograph needles to learn stuff like this. Thanks

    Excellent lesson! This solo is very complicated but very nice and for me will be a challenge to get to these 140 bpms... Thank you so much for taking the time to teach the solo!

    This has been fantastic!
    So...Carlos is clearly a schooled musician, mentored by one of the best (Bendy)!
    But, IF you had to speculate...how much of this do you think was him just blowing over the changes, and how much was pre-meditated? My money is on 3/5 takes of him shredding, followed by some comping and cleanup of the 3 sections.
    BTW, The Appaloosa solo burns just as hot! Amazing phrasing and placement of energy (and he doubled it precisely)!

    • @LoGsounds
      @LoGsounds  Рік тому +1

      It's hard to say really, I'd wager a mixture of both.
      In reality, for a recording like this to have a straight up 100% improvised non-premeditated solo is actually very rare. Musician's practice over the songs that they solo over way in advance of the recording, so they are bound to commit certain phrases that they like to memory. This is in display here in this solo, and that both of the fast melodic minor runs are near identical licks, just targeting different chords and starting a different places rhythmically. Something I go over in this series.
      Even Coltrane in giant steps reused a lot of material. If you listen to the classic recording it sounds absolutely wild, but then when you listen to the less popular B take, you'll notice many similar if not exact phrases. This means he has practiced the tune so much, these lines are naturally coming out, not necessarily being constructed on the fly.

    You really took the time explaining everything! Thanks for the effort. Fun fact: the best Lick for me was at 17:33 where you just noodled the Eb MM Arpeggio to Gadd9 XD

    So wish you could upload this video and part 1 flipped horizontally for us righties... betcha it'd get a load of hits!...Oh I just saw the Shure logo is reversed, so you're using a phone on the front cam... still, would take seconds in Premiere or whatever...

      Thanks for the comment. I use a camera and I flip the angle on purpose, as I personally prefer the mirrored angle. I'm learning that many people don't prefer that so I may change it for future things.

      @@LoGsounds Wow thanks for your prompt reply! I think the best of both worlds would be a link to the videos unflipped, as it were, without relinquishing your preferred orientation.. I have become used to seeing these videos in the other orientation, and find the chord shapes are no-brainers when I see them normally, but that might be just me. Fantastic content sir!

    This is the best perfect cover of the Guitar solo on Brother to Brother. Really this is the best and most perfect solo, note for note, complete with the same groove...The most congratulations....Maybe best that Carlo Rios original solo! :-D

    great tutorial. I've never heard anyone showing so clearly why and how these alterated scales works, I plays scales, modes at high speed but never was capabe of playing over ii V7 I progression, improvising, I always have to create a melody and memorize it before playing, And never sounded fiting the style. Thanks, (subscribed)

    • @LoGsounds
      @LoGsounds  3 роки тому +2

      Thanks for checking it out! Totally understand what you're saying, I used to do the same things. Most guitar methods focus on scales but they never truly focus on the relationship between notes and chords, which is actually how you sound good.
      At the end of the day scales don't have anything to do with music, it's all about note choice and how those notes function over the harmony.
