Progress! Finally! Now...if only people adopted the Apple PPI rule and employed 5K at 27" and then 6K at 32", and we'd really no longer have to see pixels ever again.
This notification popped up during the WAN show. Had to pop in and check it out, sorry Linus 😂 5K 32” glossy is what I’ve been waiting for! Keep us updated 😬
@@SapiaNt0mata No. We are not at the diminishing return point for PPI yet. 5k 27" is quite a sweet spot, it falls in line with apples retina classification. There is a noticeable difference. For example, the new 27" 4k monitors managed to get rid of text fringing purely by higher dpi without needing to change the subpixel structure.
There's a point where something is "good enough"... 8k tvs have been on the market for ages at this point. But they didn't take over the market like 4k TVs did because nobody cares enough. My dad bought a 8k tv years ago, there literally isn't even content to use on it. The few sources you can get 8k content for is either stuff he's not gonna watch or it's so absurdly compressed that you'd be better off watching a Blu Ray anyway.
There will be a hit. Just like when 4k 32” came out. I mean current cards struggle with that. You think next gen cards are going to run 5k stable frames matching high refresh rates?
What's good about higher resolutions is that it's a lot more customizable. For example you could upscale with "performance" modes in demanding games and have the same quality as if you had a 4k monitor, but have perfect performance and clarity without any upscaling in older games. At least that's how I'd use it if I could afford it.
