I'm day two of bilateral hernia surgery and this video and the technique is a lifesaver. Thank you so much for making the video. Thank you so much for caring about people
My wife came home from the hospital after having major surgery to remove a cyst from her lung. The next morning, she could barely get out of bed because of the excruciating pain. There were no hospital discharge instructions for getting out of the bed. I did a UA-cam research and found this video. The next morning she used the technique. The technique helps you to make slow movements. It was so much easier for my wife to get out of bed and had very little difficulty. Just make slow movements and it'll work. Thank you for posting this.
ntexas100 to your wife ...good luck in her healing. Thanks for commenting.
Meryl. My wife, Sheryl, just got up from taking a nap. She's still nervous about getting out of bed just because of the pain. She actually screams and cries from the pain. However, she used your method again and she said, "This is a life saver." Do you have any suggestions on how to get out of a chair or sofa without the pain? Thank you so much Meryl and good luck to you! I"m going to pass this along to my wife's doctor.
ntexas100 please check in with her doctor. Her pain needs to be managed better. I had surgery twice and sneezing and coughing were very difficult but otherwise meds helped. If sneezing or coughing apply pressure with a wrapped towel. My hospital showed me how to do this. It's called splinting.
Thanks Meryl. We thought about calling her doctor. However, last night and this morning she was doing much better. The doctor said she would have pain for 3-4 days and then it would start to diminish. She was right. Anyway, thanks again for the advice on getting her out of bed. That was her main issue. She had no problems this morning using your method.
Thank you so much for this video! My wife had surgery to remove her gallbladder about a week ago, and has been having a lot of pain getting in and out of bed. We finally found your video and she didn’t feel any pain getting out of bed this morning
I'm going to try this. Thank you for the help. I just had surgery last month from ovary taken out and dermoid cyst. I've been in a lot pain lately also scar tissue. I hope you are feeling better.
I had admonimal surgery 2 days ago and just about died getting out of bed tonight, the pain was severe! After watching your trick, my husband set up two pullers for me and they worked perfectly.. could not feel my core hurting at all. Many many many thanks to you
This looks better than all the other videos I just had bilateral Inguinal hernia surgery and this sounds like it will help with pain much better
Omg!!!! Thank you so much! My mother just had hip surgery and I thought I was going to have to put a baby monitor in the room to help her get up because it was hard for her to do a sit-up. This truly help both of us! Thank you for sharing this video!
Thank you so much! This method worked for me and had made a big impact on my recovery. 🙏🏽💐
You've solved my problem. I'm very grateful to you. Thank you very much.
helpful, thank you very much
That you so much I just had surgery and it's hard to get out of bed that you sooo much your a life saver. Lord is with you thank you again
I wished i saw this video when i had my c section two years ago. Getting in and out of the bed was a nightmare. I had to move to the edge of my bed and force myself to get up. Now that i m pregnant again, hopefully i will have a normal delivery. If not, i m going to use this method. Thank you so much for sharing.
Wow this is exactly what I needed. I searched through YT and wondered if anyone has a short detail help of how to as I don’t want to cause more harm to my appendicitis op and I did not receive any homecare advice at all. thank you so much.
Glad to hear from you. Good luck to your dad...
What a great tip! I have fibromyalgia and had a surgery 4 years ago for umbilical hernia and still can't sit up normal now add my chronic pain and weakness getting up is hard! This helps split the work with all my muscles so no single one is over worked! Thanks!
Thank you for sharing this video! Very helpful 😍
As many of your commenters have already said, I have to add mine as well - THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
Thank you for the easy, simple, & safe technique. I hope to use it on my husband post quadruple bypass surgery. We'll practice it before he undergoes his procedure.
Just got my appendix taken out. Hopefully this helps! Will it make me use my abdominal muscles? Thanks!
Great tip..thanks
I will try this tonight! I have been sleeping on the couch because it was easier to get out of, but I miss laying next to my husband. He's warm. Unfortunately, he doesn't wake up when I do, and I can't rely on him to help me up when I need to use the restroom.
Excellent idea!
That's clever thankyou for posting this.
Thank you, Meryl!
Had emergency appendectomy yesterday. Fingers crossed this works! I've been using my bedding, which helps, but I think this is a much better option
Glad it was helpful.
Best video I have seen! Thank you so much 😊
THANK YOU JANE!!
Great idea.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!! Now I don't have to waste time as I get up to go to the restroom! The pain, I can barely feel it anymore when I did this. I can't thank you enough! Thank you!
Awww how Sweet you must feel so good after you Used ! I'm Getting a back surgery I'm not Sure if I could Use this technic
Hope your surgery goes well. After 10 months I'm in good condition and can play basketball again.
Yolanda Hernandez I don't think this would help with back surgery because it is for chest issues but you can check with your surgeon.
Kenny Young how to be taller
Great idea 💡
you saved me after my c section. thank you!
Thank you very much for This video 🙏🙏
going for my second laparoscopy in november and becos ive now got a regular double bed i was getting worried as to how i was gonna get in and out of bed with ease and comfort with minimal pain after watching this my mind is at rest knowing i will manage if im on my own
thank you
Thanks!
Will this prevent a hernia from happening ? I can't force my abdomen muscles to work while recovering from surgery
Good luck. Heal quickly
Thanks
Wow great technique! Wish I found your video earlier!
Great idea. Thank you. I'm on day 2 of recovery from inguinal hernia surgery recovery and no one at the hospital gave me any ideas on how to get in-and-out of bed. I thought I would just wing it, but it's a real pain, literally, even with my wife helping. I think I will modify this because I'm a bigger guy. I will have a rope secured to the bottom leg of the bed because I don't think a sheet will hold me. But thanks again for the idea.
Brilliant
Feel better soon 🍀🍀🍀
I will be getting a hysterectomy within a week and I am going to use this technique.... Thank you so much.
Great tip thanks so much I am getting total adominal hysterectomy in a few days .... Thanks so much!! Love and light to you.
Back at you✨✨✨❤️❤️❤️Good luck
Still hurts when in middle of getting up
that jerk while raising from elbow
thank you very much
Very useful video.
Thank you Mam
Wish I had an alternative suggestion. Try your primary care physician or your local Visiting Nurses Association(VNA)
I just had hernia surgery today I'll be trying this out thanks
Hey Partycat, how did it work for hernia surgery? My boyfriend is scheduled for surgery next week and I was curious if this technique was helpful.
+Amber Ward it helped a ton I had my husband stuff the sheet far under the mattress when he wasn't home I was able to use the bathroom and move around when needed my dad's having the surgery in November he's going to be using the same technique to move around after.
Glad to hear it worked for you. Good luck with your father! We are going to try it!
You can add a 'knot' to the part that goes under the bed. It'll make it more secure.

What a saint
what if you dont have a good side?
You can also try to roll out of bed at an angle so your feet touch first. That method uses less abdominal muscles.
ill be having an abdominal myomectomy probably this June or July. and will probably need help getting out of bed. I have a twin size bed
It will still work. Good luck with your surgery. 🍀
I have done this tip after my Myomectomy surgery by few days after I see this video
Sadly it cause me Sharp chest pain doing this tip went to ER couldn't breath well
Don't do this tip don't do it your lungs will keep on squeeze every time you do this n you need to practice deep breathing after abdominal surgery.
I just got me a bed rail online after I discharge of 2 days in hospital from my chest pain
Bed rail are way better and safe for your lungs n spinal for different weight n condition thanks!
Sorry to hear. This is the first time in over 5 years that something like this has happened. My surgeon recommends it to his patients after I told him about it. This technique was shown to me by a Nurse. I would suggest people check with their physician. It helps many people.
when i saw the toe shoes i knew it had to be good
lol. what does this mean
This also great for women who are pregnant in their 3rd trimester like myself

Hello Meryl, my Dad has come home after having his gallbladder removed, and was concerned about getting in and out of bed when in a normal bed without hospital sides. I sent him 3 different video techniques, and this was the one that worked for him. He used his arms, and no stomach muscles - he felt no pain and was independent again. I said I'd pass on my thanks to you for sharing this technique, Justine
Ask your doctor. I don't know. Good luck
👼🏾
Why do you think that... this is what I was taught after my first surgery by a nurse.
just sit up and rub some diabetes on it. lol jk i just had surgery and i have to do a push up or roll out of bed.
btw i had a hernia repair
seems dangerous
As a Physical Therapist, I disagree with this. Do a simple log roll instead!!
