I'm really excited for Land Nav and I think I'm gonna do great. I grew up playing deep in the woods by myself (or running away from other kids playing manhunt) and as an adult I miss it.

Keep posting videos man. These are well edited and have good information in them. You will become one of the top military influencers if you stay consistent. If I could put stock in a UA-cam channel I’m putting a lot of money into Jon Hamilton.

100% right. Ive hunted my whole life, I have no issues in woods but a new area takes a bit to figure out but its not hard. iTs easy to get spun around at night so you need to stay focused a trust in what you know

Absolutely! A background like hunting is extremely beneficial for navigation. Appreciate you!

Hey man, just came across your channel. I definitely have to say you're putting out some awesome content! I know alot of guys training up will benefit from it all!
I was wondering in your future videos, if you could talk about family life. From experience/what you've seen. I see you're married, not sure if you have any kids.
I got dropped when I went to SFAS, the O course got me 😂. Fast forward a year an a half. I have a new baby boy that's 8 months old. I deeply want to pursue going back and hopefully completing everything in the pipeline. My mindset has definitely changed, just taking into consideration family life and etc.
Anything you can throw towards what I've said, it would be much appreciated!

Hey brother, I really appreciate that! I can absolutely make a video on it. However, for the majority of my time on the teams I was single. I met my wife as I was transitioning out of the military.
But there are tons of guys I worked with that have very strong family lives and relationships so it is definitely possible. You are gone quite a bit but the regiment has gotten a lot better about providing time to spend with your family so when you’re garrison you have more time with your family than most units in the military

@InfiniteGrit Thats definitely understandable! I hope transitioning out and civilian life is treating you well. Always got to move on to bigger and better things!
I definitely appreciate the comment back. I've heard it exactly how you put it. I think no matter if you're in SOF, Big Army, or anything. Just having a strong foundation with family, values and etc gets you through a lot. I think the military as a whole seems to get more "family oriented" over time, which is good.
Mine as well train up again for SFAS and give it another go. Never know if that grass is "green on the other side" until I get there. Anyways thanks again man!
Keep the videos coming! I'll pass your channel on 👊

my dad was a badass CAF 2RCR sniper veteran and he got turned around one time out at our trap line while he was scouting for good moose areas. He showed up like 6 hours late and I was like "Big, bad, Dave got lost!" and he said "I'm never lost, I know where I'm to. I'm in British Columbia" 😂 (in Newfoundlander talk; "I know where I'm to" means; "I know where I am")

Not gonna lie, the more and more I read up on trying to train up for SOF or the military on general, the more embarassing or outright shameful it feels to have been a suburb-city dweller
Fuck man, I can read as many books, work out and train and stuff but it does feel like I wouldn't be worth a damn when competing against some countryfolk (farmers, hunters, trappers etc.), construction/manual labor workers too
Doubly so being Canadian where city dwelling is honestly quite small in totality

I too was a city dweller haha they’re all skills that can be learned, man! I think every background brings a unique perspective and set of skills to the table, just gotta stay adaptable and teachable

Hey brother. How come none of the sf videos focus or talk about swimming much? Like what the likelihood of someone making it to selection if they don’t know how to swim or just learn in bootcamp? Do you have to be an elite level swimmer? Like say you grew up in the lower class of Brooklyn and never been in the woods or near the water.

    • @InfiniteGrit
      @InfiniteGrit  3 місяці тому

Swimming really isn’t part of it, man. You have to do one test at the beginning of the Q course but it’s just a 50 meter swim in uniform however you can do it. Admittedly I’m not a great swimmer by any means haha as long as you can pass that one test you can pass the Q. However, there is a dive team in each company so if you want to go to dive school that’s when becoming an elite swimmer plays a crucial role
