First huge mistake. No teacher should ever leave a child to wait alone. I taught for many years, and never left even a high school student to wait alone. We were not allowed to drive students home, but I sat with many a student, even if it made me late

I have graduate degrees in education, having also studied school law on a graduate level. A particularly strong rule is that of " in loco parentis", where the child is actually in custody of the school, and the school is responsible for the safety of the child, no matter the grade.
I never left a child. I would make every effort in locating the parent, and then, if need be, take the child to an administrator and explain. Then the child would still be safe, and the administrator would be responsible for locating the parent.

Most people don’t understand that rape can be a death. Most people would rather not talk about it at all. But it can kill who you were, it can kill your sense of body autonomy, your sense of safety, it can kill personal beliefs, it robs you of joy, relationships both intimate and familial, and it can drive you to insanity for years or lifetimes with no guarantee of survival. It needs to be treated in a more severe way.

I’m not a parent (unfortunately ) but I feel that EVERYONE should look out for kids, whether they are yours or not, or in your care. Be it at the park, crossing a street, at a crowded event , etc. Children are so vulnerable everywhere they go, we need to help them and protect them at all costs.
Why can’t some adults just leave kids alone…? 😞

@sharonbenjamin. Most teenagers DO have that me, me, me attitude. But I think it really got to the elder sister when she saw her younger sister in the hospital bed laying in a coma, hooked up to all those ivs, breathing tubes, heart monitors and other scary medical equipment. And the real possibility that her younger sister might never wake up, be in a vegetative state, be brain damaged for the rest of her life or might even pass away, probably really scared the elder sister. Sometimes, it takes a tragedy like this to happen and that's when most people try to change their behavior. And that includes teenagers.

How is it that a paedophile got off scotch free, but a grieving mother who's child was violated ended up in prison for doing what the 'justice' system failed to do. Then the child has a double sentence by losing her mother to jail. It's sad but with such a 'justice' system I'm sure this happens in real life.

Justice system has always been favorable towards pedophiles. Many in power are pedophiles. Also, men, don't like the thought of violated women or their female relatives defending themselves or attacking violent or predatory men. It's why they can never seem to take a woman's complaints serious but they are quick to charge a battered woman with murder. If more women fear jail if they defend themselves, that's more men who can abuse & violate us.

If something were to happen to him, and if I felt like it was my fault, it would eat at me for the rest of my life. I won't need anyone to blame me, I'd be doing that myself. I know that child sexual abuse has been going on for many many years and I don't know if Kinsey's reports have caused it to surge even more. Dr Judith Reisman throughout all of these years has been trying to explain and expose Kinsey's false claims. I remember watching this with my mother back in 1993 and I remember back in the mid 2000's watching it with my oldest daughter who was a few years younger than Wendy in this movie and explaining to her what had happened.

Seeing a young Allison Mack playing the little girl who was attacked in such a way makes her own real life crimes committed while she was in that cult even harder to comprehend.

This IS a must-see! I remember the first time I watched Lesley Ann Warren was in "Cinderella" back many years ago with my little sister. She was outstanding then, and even more so now. I saw Shirley Knight on "The Fugitive" and I liked her very much.
This movie covers a very touchy subject matter. It demonstrates how much we need to watch over our little ones because evil is always present. Most important - it shows a mother's love and how comprehensive it is.
We watched two mothers protecting their kids. One knowing very-well that her son did the dastardly deed. The other mom, devastated, lost in grief, literally half-crazed over how her daughter was sexually abused and almost beaten to death. She took matters into her own hands. So who is right and who is wrong? This is a very tough question only Father God can answer...

The teacher was the one who should be blamed. Even if the mother was coming herself or the sister did not forget, who knows maybe there are unforeseen delays like they suddenly fall ill or there is traffic accident? To let a child wait alone when it is becoming dark is not responsible.

I was left to flap aimlessly terrified through my entire childhood. It wasn't til I was an adult that I got quality medical care by incredible doctors that were committed to getting me proper help. Suicide hotline was kind and helpful. I found a wonderful therapist to help me. Some of us are not the cleavers where you can depend on your parents for anything. When I married my abusive husband my mom cried yet she would help him control me. She's sick and I often wonder why she's still in my life after having been grown mens fucking doll throughout my childhood. And she just kept going as if nothing needed addressing. I may as well have been raised by a 12 yr old. Probly would have done a better job
