People from the US have forgotten that prison is there to rehabilitate people and not to lock them away for ever and keep paying their life with your tax money. Your prison system is utter garbage when simply looking at statistical numbers and compare them to other western countries. Your criminal rates are comparable with under developed countries. Prisons are even partly private in the US, so that people literally make money by keeping the prison full. It's ridiculous when you think about it.
because in Texas, attempted murder and aggravated assault aren't capital offenses. That only happens when the victim is killed during the course of a crime.
Well, let's see: it doesn't actually deter murders, for one. It is extremely costly to try and to battle on appeal and costly to warehouse people on death row, for two. It's barbaric for the state to take a life, for three. It can't be undone when there is a wrongful conviction, for four. I'm sure there's more but this is the UA-cam comments section for a news video so nevermind.
Because that never worked in human history. Crime rates are down across the board from historical data, yet the punishments are far more lenient then they were. That implies there is zero correlation with the sentencing and prevention of crime. If anything, based on historical trends, it ironically would suggest a negative correlation (more severe punishments leads to higher crime rates).

Over 12 years old. And shooting people. Capital Punishment. End of Story.
Shut up ya fanny 😂
Back then in the United States you were considered a adult at the age of 13 , lot of young men at the age 13 die in the titanic because only women & children in the lifeboat’s
Yes. Capital punishment is a capital idea. Let's call it the 'Recidivism Reduction Act' .... 😊
@@lightweight1974 BRAVO. Great idea.
Troll much?
I live in that area and was shocked when this happened. We’re a small little community in AH. The theft in the area is getting worse. We have to lookout for each other here.
Stealing a car for human smuggling??? Shot a woman in the face??? Multiple other crimes? Needs life in prison
He’s a juvenile no he doesn’t honestly this was kind of harsh
@ This is the most Reddit reply I've ever heard
Justice served! Thanks Judge.
Should be life without parole. It was attempted murder plus 5 carjacks and he planned to use the cars for human smuggling.
no not served they give 30 years to murders dude got 45 for attempted pretty bad judge he should have got 25 years max
@@rickrollrizal that how their culture works.
you can hear the insincerity of that "apology" in his voice
Rehearsed on advice of counsel.
this dude literally said “i prayed for your good health” when she was literally in good health until he came into her life and shot her in the face.
the audacity of the parents to ask for leniency all the while realize their child SHOT SOMEONE IN THE FACE!
We need sentencing like this in the UK
yes you do.
I grew up without both parents yet am in good standing with the law
Hispanic judge, Hispanic cops, Hispanic lawyers, zero "racism" here.
Why Make everything about race????
You got the victim mentality 😂
@Vulgarandbored
The point of my comment is PRECISELY about not being able to make this about race? 😅
Everyone is Hispanic therefore the criminal cannot play the "race card" 😂
Facts
I would still rather be treated like a black person I would be out with the quickness
I’m over the parent’s excuses blaming the other kids. Because those kids parents are blaming other kids. None of these parents are taking responsibility for their bad parenting. Parents for the last 20 years have been letting the hood, television, the internet and now social media raise their kids. And they are shocked when their kids turn out like this?? If he is underaged, the parents should also be held accountable.
So awful what he did to that young woman. I can't even imagine. That guy needs more years then he received.
I grew up in a dysfunctional family, I didn't turn to drugs or alcohol, I just strived to not be like my parents and it worked
What happened to capital punishment? What happened to making such an example that the normal person would hesitate to commit a violent crime.
lol that was abolished when the democrats and liberals took office. The criminals are the victims now. This country needs Trump or someone like him more than any of us know
People from the US have forgotten that prison is there to rehabilitate people and not to lock them away for ever and keep paying their life with your tax money.
