The Yoshi demo was actually found, as it was in Gameboy Advance press kits, as well as a dolphin tech demo. I managed to find both of these ROMs and download them.
The Mario 128 thing was also referenced in Super Smash Bros. Melee, where the 22nd event match was titled Super Mario 128 and had the player fight 128 tiny Marios that die almost instantly when touched with any attack. Also it's interesting how Pauline was eventually given a lead singer role in a band in Super Mario Odyssey, long after the cancelled Donkey Band where she would have had the same role.
I heard from someone that Super Mario FX was actually never planned. And Super Mario 64 was never planned to be on the SNES. But I don't know if that is 100% true or not.
I think the talk about Mario 128 was mostly just people taking a tech demo and trying to make that into a game. It happens quite frequently in the industry. The exact same thing is happening right now with the Wii U where Nitnendo showed that Tech Demo of Link fighting Ganon and people ignored the fact that it was a "tech demo" and started calling it "the new zelda game!!!"
Is much as i would like to agree with you, i watch Yuriofwind and i learn stuff, people really had the right to believe that this stuff was gonna happen. I mean luigi's mansion and metroid prime became games and were shown with this.
that doesn't make sense, though. Tech demo means tech demo. Sure a tech demo may become a game. But tech demo does not mean "this is a game". LOTs of tech demoes do not become games. Almost none of Xbox or Playstation's tech demoes become games. Nobdoy saw the woman smoking tech demo for Xbox 360 and went "Smoking woman game cancelled!" "Never going to be released!" Or, more appropriately, the Final Fantasy 7 PS3 tech demo. Square will never make a 3d FFVII game. It was just a tech demo. So when the game does not come out, it doesn't mean 3dFFVII was canceled. It never existed in the first place. It was just a tech demo.
But it was the "next" mario game people thought, they wouldn't joke about this. I mean i do agree with you people were like OMG THIS SUXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX when The Wind Waker was announced (it was awesome) and people were also dissapointed when sunshine and luigi's mansion were announced too.
That picture that he showed was NOT Super Mario 64 2, it was Super Mario 64 Disk Version. There is a video on UA-cam which shows someone with the disk and it works. The load times are slightly longer and the music quality is better. However, when the Wiggler boss moves in Tiny Huge Island, the game freezes so entering from the side of the mountain will just freeze the game on a black screen while entering from top will trigger the text box and once the player finishes reading it, the game will freeze most likely because Wiggler's movement was never ported to the disk version.
I wish the N64 DD had been released properly. Its really fun and the games are great, as well as the fact it was more capable at creating avatars than the Wii and had better graphics than the N64.
And you probably didn't know that I've already scrapped the intro for the recent episodes for 2 reasons. One was that it was too long and switched over to Title Cards which aren't long and I no longer make anymore rants/commentaries
Super mario FX was NOT mario 64.... Nintendo stated in an interview that The FX chip was a thing so they called it Super Mario FX. It was ment for star fox 2,Also canceled,And Other games EXEPT any mario game since they had like 6 XD
Actually, Super Mario 64 came to be because of a prototype for a 3D free-roaming Yoshi game made by Argonaut. In the end, it became 2 games: SM64 and Croc: Legend of the Gobbos. So now you know. And knowing is half the battle!
Also, Yoshi's Island isn't the official sequel to Super Mario World. That's just something the US market decided upon. In Japan it's not called Mario World 2 and just called Yoshi's Island. Which is why none of the other Yoshi's Island games have the Super Mario World label on them. Personally I think it did the game more harm than good because it turned people off.
agreed yoshi's island would have been better off if it was acknowledged as it's own series from the start. SMW is a hell of an act to follow and Yoshi's Island plays way too differently to comfortably fit as it's sequel.
***** sure they can be part of the canon of the super mario series. I have no bones with that. I disagree with them whacking that super mario world 2 label on it as it set up expectations for a game that would recapture the style and feel that made SMW such a smash hit. An expectation that would never be fulfilled.
Sonik Hedgehg is that supposed to be a joke or something? I don't really believe that you are that stupid, so this has to be a joke that has gone right over my head...
Missed one, the creators of the mario strikers games were going to create a volley-ball mario game with the same darker violent themes incorporated in strikers, but the project was scraped when nintendo partnered up with Square to make Mario sports mix, and the creation of two separate volley-ball games would only make redundancy
@spongefan8 I didn't ask if it was finished, I asked if that one event match in SSBM where you play as Bowser fighting all those mini Marios was a reference to it or not since if I recall had the same title. Also I don't need hints to the final product when I was told in the video.
Y'know, I remember a tidbit from an old Nintendo Power issue that stated riding Yoshi was going to be a key feature of "Super Mario 64 2." (They even featured the name of that game on many of their "upcoming games" lists in the late '90s, I recall.)
Yoshi's Story was actually planned to be remade fully & not as a tech demo for the gba. I remember reading it was like '02 and Nintendo Power had announced it, showed some screenshots & gave a "Q4 2003" release date, it basically was on the "Coming Soon" page for like 6 months at the bottom & then disappeared, I remember wanting this game badly to play to go & had my hopes crushed lol
Have you ever played Donkey Kong on the gameboy (sometimes referred to as Donkey Kong '94). The first four levels are like regular Donkey Kong but the rest is like Mario vs. Donkey Kong.
Could someone explain to me THQ's relationship with Nintendo and Rare? I don't understand why or how Diddy Kong Pilot got re-worked into Banjo Pilot. I thought that Rare owned the rights or whatever to Banjo Kazooie?
One of my favorite Cancelled Mario Game was Super Mario RPG 2,Because it would've been the return of Malo,Geno, and Boshi.Another favorite cancelled Mario game was Peach's Castle for the GameCube, because it looked like a fun game, however it was only a tech-demo.
mario paint 64 was named in this video that was named mario artist much elements of mario artist exist in wario ware diy! (mario artist is released in japan for the disc drive)
i had heard it was going to SMB1 & the Lost Levels together with other features, i guess it was going to be a 16 bit version of SMB Deluxe & Super Mario Advance 6 was going to be Super Mario RPG
About the SM64DD, if the game was not finished, it wouldn't be a grey disk, it would be a blue one since blue ones are developer ones. Super Mario FX was a rumor, Mario FX was a chip in the SNES.
was the donkey kong racing game that came out on wii ever released for the gamecube as surely it was originally intended for use with the bongo controller?..it was poor on wii but prob woulda been a bit o fun with the bongos.
Gamemaker=super Mario maker
+IPlayVideoGamesOk Pretty much
this intro is iconic
The name of the intro song is "Heimwarts (Acoustic Version)" by Equilibrium.
The Yoshi demo was actually found, as it was in Gameboy Advance press kits, as well as a dolphin tech demo. I managed to find both of these ROMs and download them.

Wow. I would've loved to see Super Mario 64 2 and Donkey Kong Racing.
I find it interesting that one copy of Super Mario 64 2 was made, even though it was never shown to the public.
That picture that he showed was NOT Super Mario 64 2, it was Super Mario 64 Disk Version. There is a video on UA-cam which shows someone with the disk and it works. I know, I was just talking about SM64 2 in general. I wasn't talking about the picture.
Its really weird stumbling across this channel again, after almost four or five years.
Same
I wish the N64 DD had been released properly. Its really fun and the games are great, as well as the fact it was more capable at creating avatars than the Wii and had better graphics than the N64.
Forgotten Media: Philips CD-i
lol
Mario Artist Game Maker's concept would later become Super Mario Maker.
tim5fl
Actually, this theory is pretty true in my opinion! 5 Stars! *******
This video takes me back, heck this whole channel takes me back.
Yoshi's island is a prequel to the mario franchise
holy crap its been years since ive seen this
Same, forgot how comfy this series is
And you probably didn't know that I've already scrapped the intro for the recent episodes for 2 reasons. One was that it was too long and switched over to Title Cards which aren't long and I no longer make anymore rants/commentaries
Just wondering, what is the intro music?
all toasters toast toast
*facepalm*
Super mario FX was NOT mario 64....

+TheRed Pheonix You did your homework! Good!
:)
Exactly right!!!!
+TheRed Pheonix That's nice to know.
Actually, Super Mario 64 came to be because of a prototype for a 3D free-roaming Yoshi game made by Argonaut. In the end, it became 2 games: SM64 and Croc: Legend of the Gobbos.

+Max Perdue Nintendo Power magazines LIEEED!!!!! xD

You have a little mistake. In japan, yoshi's island is called Super Mario: Yoshi Island
I know, I played on one a few times as a kid :) That Mario still looks incredibly strange when you see it on a regular screen though!
What is the song that you used in the intro? I have to know the name!
Darude - Sandstorm
Sonik Hedgehg is that supposed to be a joke or something? I don't really believe that you are that stupid, so this has to be a joke that has gone right over my head...
Sarude - Dandstorm
***** Shut the fuck up. These "Darude-Sandstorm" jokes arent fucking funny anymore.
LOL Diddy Kong Pot XD
This was posted on my birthday last year, good video. C:
I just want a sequel to DK 64

yay! I had remembered your channel but i couldnt remember what it was called and i just found it. :D
I wish that Donkey Band Game was released for the N64. Should be cool is it was happend.
6:33 - 6: 35 = Yeesh. Those Bullet Bills give me the Bullet chills.
Y'know, I remember a tidbit from an old Nintendo Power issue that stated riding Yoshi was going to be a key feature of "Super Mario 64 2." (They even featured the name of that game on many of their "upcoming games" lists in the late '90s, I recall.)
Peter-No-Tail, a very old film that I hope to talk about it on FM soon
Nintendo selling Rare is still some of the biggest mysteries of life for me.
Can you do a forgotten media episode on The Playdia or the 3DO both are systems that didnt sell well
That creepy red Mario under the "Virtual Boy" logo is going to haunt me.
Yoshi's Story was actually planned to be remade fully & not as a tech demo for the gba. I remember reading it was like '02 and Nintendo Power had announced it, showed some screenshots & gave a "Q4 2003" release date, it basically was on the "Coming Soon" page for like 6 months at the bottom & then disappeared, I remember wanting this game badly to play to go & had my hopes crushed lol
super mario fx nether happend its a codename for the fx chip
don't forget, Mario's Face on the Nintendo DS was cancelled and it was a playable demo from E3 back in 2004.
Have you ever played Donkey Kong on the gameboy (sometimes referred to as Donkey Kong '94). The first four levels are like regular Donkey Kong but the rest is like Mario vs. Donkey Kong.
Why donkey kong's fun with music is canclled
Please tell us why
Maybecause of the colossal failure of Donkey Kong JR. Math
What is the Link figure in the intro? Does one of these videos include a scrapped Zelda? I was always curious about the original Zelda 64...
the game board has the gamecube logo on it. and that wasn't even out yet.
Could someone explain to me THQ's relationship with Nintendo and Rare? I don't understand why or how Diddy Kong Pilot got re-worked into Banjo Pilot. I thought that Rare owned the rights or whatever to Banjo Kazooie?
I was not expecting to an acoustic version of heimwarts by equilibrium in the beginning of the video when I clicked this link.
I never seen such rare Mario games in the past. Only time tells why
I am so pumped that Fozzie Bear is making youtube videos!
I know, I meant to express that I too was surprised by hearing Equilibrium on that video
MeltingMan234 Can you do a Forgotten Media episode about The Seven Lady Godivas, please?
I'm still surprised there isn't a Super Mario 64 sequel
Also that title screen image of the Virtual Boy game is absolutely creepy
I mean super Mario 64 DS
Mario Land was a Virtual Boy Demo Shown at WCES 1995 in Las Vegas, NV.
Super Mario 128 was a Gamecube Tech Demo Shown at Nintendo Spaceworld 2000 in Japan.
Nick Jantz he said that it was there to show what the gamecube was capable of
No, he said that they became Paper Mario, but they didnt in Japan. The name still stuck as "Super Mario RPG 2"
what is that starting music? its epic!
your dry humor is delightful.
i think psone is a little better, because on the n64 the most part of things in the background are only images if you know wht i´m talking about
What is the music for the beginning of the video?
That "Mario artist - game maker" Could have a connection with Wario ware Diy since that game shared some traits with Mario paint.
What is the song at the beginning please tell me!!
So uh, isn't Mario 128 referenced in a SSBM Event match?
No, it was stated by miyamoto that it became pikmin. Elements such as sphere walking were taken from mario 128 though.
can do one where the term DERP came from?
There's actually a Diddy Kong Pilot rom out there. It's pretty much the same as Banjo Pilot.
whats the name of the song? i love it
Good use of Equilibrium at the start. I approve
Another cancelled Mario game was "New Super Mario Bros. U", which was shown at E3 2011 for the upcoming Wii U.
GameCheater803
The thing is that New Super Mario Bros U DID release on the Wii U
mario paint 64 was named in this video that was named mario artist much elements of mario artist exist in wario ware diy! (mario artist is released in japan for the disc drive)
the mario paint 64 games were released. only in japan but they still were. it was one of the only games released on it.
Man that song in the intro is amazing. What is it?
is there a prototype of SM64 2?
Can you make 2 videos?
1. History of Zelda 64
2. Cancelled Disney ideas
Mario Artist: Game Maker sounds like an awesome idea!
Thanks dude, your the best.Maybe you could make it in as a:song, stage, boss, heck you could even make it as an assist trophy!
the rom of the yoshi gba game was put on the internet not too long ago.
(implying this video was made recently.)
@ConkerfanX Referenced to Demo. It's natural of Nintendo to make references to their games, even the oldest.
What's the name of the song in the intro?
You forgot Mario Takes America. This would be on the CDI and would involve Mario going from New York to Hollywood in a platformer.
you do realize that Mario is one of, if not the most sold and most loved gaming series of all time right?
Super Mario 64 2 became Super Mario 64 DS. I learned this from an official Nintendo magazine here in Britain.
i had heard it was going to SMB1 & the Lost Levels together with other features, i guess it was going to be a 16 bit version of SMB Deluxe & Super Mario Advance 6 was going to be Super Mario RPG
About the SM64DD, if the game was not finished, it wouldn't be a grey disk, it would be a blue one since blue ones are developer ones.
Super Mario FX was a rumor, Mario FX was a chip in the SNES.
It was a chip in Starfox and Yoshis island and some more
ofir goldshtain Oh yeah, just noticed the error in my comment XD
+LanCeeXD
The Yoshi Tech demo proves no chip like the Nintendo S-1 or something in SMRPG is better than GBA graphics
Mario and Luigi RPG 4 is going to come out this summer I think :)
0:16 what is that movie?
What's the film at the bottom right? 0:17
i'm pretty sure dk racing on gcn was reworked into wii's dk barrel blast
I'm happy Super Mario Wacky Worlds never came to be. I tend to think if it never got canned, we'd get more of the same for the next few years.
Donkey Kong for the arcade/NES is the origin of there career as mascotts for nintendo
One of the versions of Mario artist is on an ebay auction.
What's the intro song called?
Whats the name of the intro song
I wish that all of these cancelled games were made, since they all look interesting.
This video was uploaded before it was cancelled, homie.
was the donkey kong racing game that came out on wii ever released for the gamecube as surely it was originally intended for use with the bongo controller?..it was poor on wii but prob woulda been a bit o fun with the bongos.
At least the warioland for VB was released. Played the crap out of that gem.
Diddy Kong Pot is the best.
+SEKAI NO WALUIGI LOL!
Mario Artist was released only in Japan
you should see some of the other canceled non mario games.
like Dead Phoenix.
That Yoshi's Story GBA game looked pretty fun. =(
+Ryusuta It looks exactly like Yoshi Topsy Turvy.
