I hope you enjoy this one! It got a bit mental on Day 3 didn't it!! 😂I'm really enjoying these long distance Ancient trail hikes, if you've got any ideas for where I should head next then feel free to drop them down bellow, I got this one off one of my subscribers! Thank you so much for watching, make sure you Subscribe if you are new here! All the best - Dave!🥳🥾
I did part of this hike as a young teenager , from Petersfield to Shoreham , it was beautiful! I live in Las Vegas now and believe it or not , there is beautiful hiking here too, all around the outskirts of town ! Mount Charleston , Valley of Fire, Redrock canyon to name a few 🧡
Thank you all so much for the support so far, its so lovely so see this film connect with so many people! Make sure you checkout my other recent long distance historical path - 87 Miles along the Ridgeway! You can find it here: ua-cam.com/video/jZi_FZimFT0/v-deo.html All the best! Dave 🥳
Nice to see you walking through my village (Upper Beeding, West Sussex - Day 4, the Castle Inn does nice food) technically the South Downs Way runs along the outside of it near Botolph's, you pass the Steyning Bowl before descending down into the valley and cross the river on the footbridge near Shoreham Cement Works.
Loved your video because it brought back brilliant memories of doing the South Downs Way many years ago but we did it in the other direction and in summer. I would definitely recommend it because it is one of the best long distance paths we've done.
Love this video. I'm a Brit living in So Cal and missing the countryside in the UK sooo much. Seeing the scenery along with your fun attitude was stellar. Cheered me up on a day that I needed cheering. Thanks for sharing.
Im 19 and have grown up with the south downs just behind my house in lancing, and its the best place to go to see some brilliant views and get away. Great to see it get some appreciation and love! Great video man!!
WOW INCREASABLE! How much weight did you guys carry! What pack did you use? Who carried the max weight and how much was it? I'm gonna start practicing and hopefully working towards being able to handle 60 pounds 10 miles a day!
Thank you! I’m going to get more shots like that in the future! I really like it too 😁 The idea came from my 16 mile Shropshire film I made earlier this year - I managed to forget my tripod before heading out so had to spend the day planting my camera on rocks and the floor 😂 The alternate perspective ended up really working out and gives that whole film a gritty feeling (at least I think so) 😁 I’m glad someone noticed that ground shot in this film, I’m deffo gonna do this even more moving forward!! 🥳 I’m glad you enjoyed it, hope you subscribed!😁🤯
A great, long solo hike in the English Countryside! Lot of love and respect from a solo mountain hiker from a solo mountain hiker from the Lower Chitral District of Pakistan!
Great video, I walked it in August with two friends in 5 days loved up, but finished by walking the coastal route along the seven sisters to Eastbourne 😀
Just found your channel, loving the videos😀 look forward to more when the weather/season changes, something I will look into doing too, keep up the great work posting these 👍
Thank you Dustin!! I'm trying to mix it up a bit, I've done the slow cinematic videos now I'm going to start messing around with this faster paced style I think! :)
I enjoyed this - I've done parts of the route and aim to do it all at some point. However I'm afraid you may have gone off route at the end - you should have gone over the seven sisters and finished at a very obvious sign at the bottom of the hill at Eastbourne. Hopefully you can come back and finish it there sometime. It's the best part of the route in my opinion (at least that I've done!) It would also be super interesting to hear what sections of the route you did on which days and where you stayed :)
Yes I’m so sad that I missed this section!! My AllTrails map took me off down the bridle way instead of the main waking route - and it was too late in the day before I realised it! I’ll deffo go back in the future 😁💪
@@DavidPMcEntee get the OS app and pay the full map sub. In my view if you are going to do this sort of activity you should get a proper gps device, I'm a Garmin fan (530) but lots of options
Attempted the SDW October 2020 and had to bail due to (being unprepared for the amount of) rain. Tried it again in June 2021, and weather couldn’t have been more different. What a fantastic hike it was, the scenery is amazing….
Cool video and well shot. You could have done it in less time if you weren’t filming 😂. I love near this and I’m trying to complete it in stages as and when I can but you’re right, it’s a beautiful part of the country.
A really nice video! Coming October I also want to walk the South Downs Way. Is it really needed to have waterproof trousers or are quick drying trousers also sufficient?
Excellent work Dave. What resilience you have . Your training on Britain's highest peaks have kept you up to the mark! Lovely shots of a beautiful part of the country. Well done. D
@@leechafertravels thanks mate!! I’m excited to starting blending the two more and more, the reactions to the videos has doubled / tripled since I started taking centre stage! So I’m all for it 😁😁
Well done. I did that in early 70s with some mates twice. The ridgeway is nice and north downs way is good. We had a go at sections of the south west peninsula coast path which was interesting. There's a circular one in North york moors we started at Redcar i think. Good times
That looks like a great hike! 100miles in 5 days, that's fast! I just finished the GR5 in Nice. That was 2170km and it took us 16years! 😁 Fall hiking biggest problem is the short time of daylight! 😏
I'm planning a PhD which involves the issues of access to the countryside, I'll be using the South Downs Way as my case study (thats if I get it approved).
The reason you can’t find the end of the hike is because it ‘loops’ back around at Eastbourne, there’s two routes, it splits at Alfriston. I had the same problem but realised just in time….
Yes, turn right straight after the bridge at Alfriston on the pedestrian route and you get to walk the Seven Sisters, our man here went straight on which is the mountain bike and bridleway route.
Trust me I stopped at every outdoor cafe I saw on the way - I’ll put more of that in the next video! 😋 The Amazon links are currently my only source of income from all the vids so I’m afraid they won’t be going anywhere ❤️
Nice video. I have. Walked the SDW quite a bit. Wild camping along the way mostly. Also in weather like you had in Day 3.. thunder storms and all. Fantastic walk fantastic part of the country. Nicely done.

It was a bit mad hahaha
