- As our family continues making our way through Southeast Asia, we visit Vietnam for the first time. Our first stop is Hanoi, where we were scheduled for an Old Quarter street food tour. Unfortunately, the tour was canceled because of the Tet holiday. Not being a family that gives up easily, we decided to walk the streets on our own despite the challenge of knowing next to nothing about the area or the foods. And to add to the struggle, Colt has fallen ill and can't venture out at all...

Brooklyn sounds like her Mom & Dad when she describes the Vietnamese street food. Very lucid. Though it seems that she's not quite familiar with the taste but she still give it a go and has no qualms about it. Very admirable young girl!

husband speaking - 2 Oct. 23 7 months after my first comments. I had just watched the Ocampo's street food video
and decided to watch yours a 2nd time. I would love trying the egg coffee. - Did I miss the first time that Phil has never
had a cup of coffee ? Then Erin loves coffee - ? I grew up with coffee - I don't remember how young I was when I first
started to drink a whole cup on my own but for sure by age 12 I was hooked. When I am working outside or in the garage,
I love coffee by my side. I always have my last cup as I get ready for bed - never keeps me up. ( lucky me )

You got that right? :-) Phil hates coffee and never drinks it and I absolutely love it and can’t live without at least one cup a day. However, it definitely keeps me up so I limit myself to just the morning.

I'd love to visit Vietnam someday, now at 51 yrs old, the only country I visited outside Philippines was Hong Kong. I am jealous of your family's great adventure. Wish I could do it with my kids too. Always keep safe and enjoy your travels.

So I think this episode made me realize what has been missing from the show up to this point. So you are a family of travel vloggers, but I think up until this point, it's been "parents hosting, parents enjoying themselves, parents this, parents that, kids try a sip of wine and say that's good." This episode forced Brooklyn to be a main character, and it changed the feel. I enjoyed hearing her perspectives on things.
I'm not saying the vlog should focus on the kids, but rather if you are a family of vloggers, kids should be more present in the videos. I think vloggers like The Bucket List Family got the balance right, check them out.
We appreciate your input! 🙏 We are still trying to find the right balance because we don’t want to put the pressure on our kids to perform. They really just participate as much as they want or are willing to. And that still seems like a lot for us to ask of them at their age. I think Phil and I are finding our own balance with how much we can/should rely on our kids carrying a show. We LOVED this episode with Brooklyn taking the reigns. She did such a great job hosting with her dad. I think she enjoyed doing it so much because it felt like a special bonding project with her dad. We’d like to get the kids more involved but I think we’re going to have to figure out the right balance as we go.
