I am seriously considering getting the S08 or the aful Explorer.. Which one do you think fits my sound references. I like music that's engaging with good bass slam and punchiness yet have above average clarity B
@@nicko7201I own a S12 regular not pro version, I'm considering change it for the Aful Exploter because I most listening to pop, hip hop rock, so I want more like same as you I think smooth treble and good bass slam and punchy which Dynamic drivers are better in that job or if do you have more money Dunu Davinci is a direct upgrade from Explorer.
Thanks for the details on the sound signature, the type of music it sounds best with, and the comparisons. Keep up all the hard work and great (and helpful) content
I just got these over the weekend, and I am really enjoying them. I am on the fence about planar IEMs in general, but these turned the treble down a bit, which was a nice change.
Nice review. Your description reminds of the S15. The S15 is the most DD-sounding planar IEM I have heard. The bass is bouncy, rubbery, weighted, fat, unlike many planars which have speedy, fast decay, weightless bass. The same goes for the treble, the S15 has none of the planar treble timbre. It’s good that Letshuoer make the S15 sound, much more affordable, by making the S08.
Thank you for the review! Got my S08 a few days ago. If you haven't already, try it with the Divinus Velvet Wide Bore tips. I found them to work together perfectly
For planar i hight recommend foam tips and clean with distilled water. These dont have that planar harseness at all but for others definitely needed if its too harsh for you
Great review! Glad to hear you’re take on this set. Another reviewer said it was the best planar that they had ever heard. Your take seems more accurate! I do not own a planar set and was thinking of making this one my first. Should I get this one or are there others you recommend instead that are reasonably priced?
Thanks. It depends on what you like, the sort of sound tuning you like. If you ask me, personally I think the Subbass is a bit overcooked for my taste and preferences, but then from another perspective, many will say I have rather weird taste of liking much flatter Bass responses which focuses more on Midbass, and overall flatter neutral sound. Based on what I have mentioned in this video, does the sound description clicks to your taste? do you like smooth edged warm sound? do you like prominent Subbass? if yes then this is it. There's also TIN HiFi P1 Max 2 which is a version that emphasize more on Midbass, or similarly tuned single DD of Kefine Delci. The good thing is, we have so many to choose from nowadays, almost all of them really great in their own ways, to cater for different needs and preferences
@@AndyAudioVault Thanks 🙏 I think I’m still finding my way when it comes to my preferences. I’m still I guess you would say experimenting. I haven’t quite narrowed it down fully. I think I might be a little bit out of the mainstream in that I seem to be able to enjoy quite different sound profiles but then again I only own 12 sets of IEM’s so I don’t really have a lot to compare. Maybe I should just try it out and see! lol thank you for your help though!
I suspect this planar will compete closely with the ARTTI T10 and the NiceHCK F1 Pro. All are near or below US$100, to my understanding. Would be an interesting 3-way comparison. I own the ARTTI T10, MP145, S12, and PR-1 (HiFi). The MP145 (with rose gold filter, Jan2024) is my favorite, followed CLOSELY by the ARTTI T10.
Thank you for this review. I too have the ARTTI T10 and I really like it, the first planar iem (to me) that sounds punchy like a dynamic driver iem. But for more punch I still rely on my Simgot EA500LM. The T10 is not in your list and I can honestly understand why.. It looks more like a hearing aid, really bland medical grade looking and the cable needs an upgrade. But still, I am really glad I bought it for cheap on sale from Aliexpress. Would really love to see the T10 in your list and see how it compares. This S08 sounds enticing.
@@northborneo I have to agree, the T10 will not win any visual design awards. It has a hearing aid color that only Joe Biden could appreciate. Just wish they offered it in some racing colors (matt black, blue, green, yellow, red)...whilst keeping the cost competitive. As for fitment/seal/comfort...to me this light and small (bullet type) shell is fantastic. Good nozzle length...innocuous in the ear, for long listening comfort.
At budget range ODO is already suitable for S08, it has both the power and dynamics to make S08 shine. The only upgrade path I see from that point onwards is to get AKLIAM PD6 for under $100 and ONIX Alpha XI for over $100 and finally iBasso DC07Pro for $200 region
Thanks! Within this price segment then the one you would want to try is the DUNU Titan S2 for crisper details and Mids, less warmth. Also there's Rose Technics Star City 5 Pro and ND X12 (X12 is hard edged detailed)
Not really. Hidizs MP145 offers the sort of soundstage width and depth which is only matched by Final Audio A5000, so it is possible for planars to have good soundstage too
Hey Andy, sound quality wise wich would you pick, shanling h2, i hope you have try it, or onix alpha, y know they have same dacs but onix its double dac, and the implementation may be diferent
I've been waiting for your review of the SO8 AAV. They seem similarly tuned to the Tangzu Fudu's. Do you think the SO8 would be an upgrade, or merely a side grade from Fudu to SO8?
I actually do not understand IEMs' seals. Most parts that actually enters the ear canal are the nozzles where are pretty much the same among IEMs, save for diameter sizes. But the seal/external noise reduction do vary, even if you slot in your known best-sealing tips on another IEM. What gives?
You forget the material used. Metal shelled IEMs which have coarse coating (powder coated or anodized) typically does not as seal well as compared to hard resin with smooth surface which can achieve better seal
Hey Andy, I was considering this as an upgrade over my truthear hexa for metal music. Do you think this is better for metal? If not this then what else do you recommend?
I would not use this for Metal myself due to dampening of Midbass and too much focus on Subbass, unless of course that's what you want, more Subbass and less Midbass. I would use DUNU Titan S2 for Metal instead, or Rose Technics Star City 5 Pro
@@AndyAudioVault Thanks Andy, Star city 5 pro looks promising. Hope it performs well with metalcore and death metal, I am always looking for that low end slam. \m/
hi andy i know this is out of topic but i see dunu talos in your ranking list, and i see its score very good at 70 and its actually cheap, but i am searching for your review about it and i could not find it, may i know what your short impression of dunu talos? do you like it or not?
With the tracks from Fallen especially Valen and Budstikken, the piercing end of Varg's vocals are dampened favorably and less sharp sounding, his guitars sounded rich and smooth too. Overall S08 would provide smoothness to the album tracks which is very nice
Andy you are my hero and my go to channel if I am looking at getting an iem or dac ❤ Cheers for the every detail description ❤
