Thank you! I've just returned from an Asda locker collection in which I ordered four bottles of spirits, *all of which* had their Catalyst BottleLox still on. I have a strong neodymium magnet which makes light work of those disc-and-wire security tags, but I had great trouble trying to use it to remove the BottleLox (it's hard to get both levers to activate at the same time). Your metal skewer method allowed me to liberate the last two bottles in as many minutes, after I'd spent about an hour on the first two.

Thanks to you my husband got it off in seconds, without damaging the lock (taking it back to the store on next visit, with the price of diesel today didn't want to drive all the way back for nothing)!

Cheers for this. So damn easy. This is the second time Asda have left the security device on my Bourbon, the first time I spent 1/2 an hour picking the metal latch pins with a straw cleaner. lol.. I did it, but it was fiddly. I wish I had known this before, could have saved myself some time.
You want a head to head challenge and whoever gets the most of in the space of a min, and doesn't damage the seals or lids pays for the amount of drink. You up for the challenge

I was trying your technique and realized I can just wiggle it off over the lid of the 70cl sized bottle. Dented the bottle lid slightly but it was off in seconds. So yeah those thinner bottle tops are easy.

Well... I had a bottle of Jack Fire that the grocery store neglected to pull the safety device. The square bottle does not allow me to get a skewer underneath the neck. Its only $18, why do they have a safety device? I am angry and take a hammer to the top edge. Device broken. Bottle open.
