I have recently gotten the 2021 Omen 15 with the Ryzen 5 5600h and RTX 3060. Although I haven't done a proper test yet, from my usage of the device, it does not seem like it would be able to get the battery life times that you got with yours. My prediction is that it would at best get 5 hours of battery life and that's simply doing youtube playback and web browsing. I have battery saver on, and the display is at its minimum brightness along with enabling it to only use the integrated graphics and not the dedicated gpu to try and save more battery. What do you suppose is the issue?
How were you able to enable only the integrated graphics? I have the 1660ti model and get around the same battery life, I also set the display from 144hz to 60hz.
@@alexvswrld what you do is go into the nvidia control panel and change it from auto select to integrated graphics only or "high end nvidia graphics card" if you want to make sure it's always using the dgpu. The best solution I've gotten from my use for the battery issue is to actually uninstall the graphics drivers for both the igpu and dgpu and reinstall them with hp's drivers that they provide on their site. Simply Google hp drivers and find your specific model and download all the drivers. After I installed hp's drivers my battery life prediction basically doubled. Geforce experience will bug you about there being a new game ready driver update for you to install but you don't need it. In addition, installing that will bring you back to the 3 hour battery life.

( HP OMEN 15-en0110nd ) this is the model im talking about. Answer would be much apreciated!
In theory the slower/dimmer display should yield better battery performance. But I wouldn’t expect a night/day improvement. Either way, even the battery life of this model is pretty good for a gaming laptop. =)
I dont know if I should get this or the legion 5!! Does the screen wobble when you type and or its on your lap?? The only available here on legion is 120hz which is awful, idk what to get.. new msi is kinda good as well.. Any more recommendations?

Interesting your numbers are so high, I have this laptop and have only managed about 4 hours doing general browsing and UA-cam, although I do keep my keyboard lighting on but that shouldn't make a two hour difference should it? I lose about 10% of battery after a single episode of the Simpsons (24m) with the screen at half brightness. @@little_tofu Yeah, did all the usual suspects like lowering the maximum processor state, enabling power saver, dropping brightness...I think it may boil down to the individual cells of the battery, some might just be stronger than others and better quality. IDK, still a killer laptop.
I don't think there would be much difference. I have a G14 which has a Ryzen 7, and battery life is quite comparable to the Ryzen 5 Omen 15. Obviously, these are two different machines entirely, but I don't expect as wide a deviation as AMD vs Intel for example. =)
Bro can you review legion 5i also, I am looking forward to buy a new laptop i watched your helios and this Omen review. Its just legion is missing can you do it please .
Hi! Two questions. do you think it will be able to run VR and do you think the battery life will be the same with the intel version of this laptop. Thanks
I think it should be able to run VR, with lower settings potentially! And, I doubt the battery life would be as good with the Intel variant. Mainly because the AMD CPUs from this year are just much more efficient due to the 7nm design.
Unfortunately I don’t know, as I’ve not had the chance to test the variants with I7s. However, I have tried other gaming laptops such as the Blade 15 and Helios 300, which both feature the I7-10750H, and none of them could get anywhere close to this Ryzen powered Omen.
Seniru Perera given that both the Helios and Blade are capable of going 3-4 hours, I think the Omen with a bigger battery should be able to do at least 4-5 for things like UA-cam and web browsing. =)
Will battery life be severely affected by the components you get? I am planning on getting the I7 10750h and rtx 2070maxq for my omen 15. I heard people that get 2-3 hours of battery life from this.
Yes, that could very well be the case. I've tested two laptops with an I7-10750H (Blade 15, Helios 300), and none of them could manage anything close to what the Omen with the AMD CPU could manage. The 14nm CPUs from Intel are just not going to be as efficient as the 7nm ones from AMD unfortunately...

Yes, I agree with tanki pro. The Helios is really good if you’re looking for raw performance. But I think the Omen might be the better all-rounder. Although, that’s my findings with the AMD variant, so maybe the results might be a bit different if you decide to go for Intel.
