If you are in a destructive marriage with a toxic spouse DO NOT ask him: “what’s it like to live with me?” A toxic person is so engaged in self-deception and in deceiving others, that he’ll use this opportunity to destroy you with lies about you OR, if he’s a skilled covert abuser, he’ll destroy you with a mix of truths and lies about you to get you really confused and deceived. When asking people’s opinions about you it’s important to consider the source.
, thank you so much for your wisdom! This happens to me and I have not realized it. Or he changes the subject as if I don't matter to him and what I think is not worth hearing. Thank God for the new spiritual life I have learned being married to him, the loneliness sent me to the Word at 58 years old. I pray 🙏 for you and your walk with God. Thanks again . Wendy
Your bks and these episodes have blessed me as I walk the painful path of divorce after a 30yr marriage. I am so looking forward to hearing you soon in Michigan, my sister bought tickets! God is good even when life isn't. Thank you for sharing the wisdom God has given you!
@myheartHislove, so what I am understanding from the verse Galatians 5 he read is that once someone has "practiced" sinned, they are lost (spiritual death) will not receive forgiveness and loss of salvation(death)? Will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Most peoples lack of self awareness can be traced to the foundational beginnings of their own personality and emotional maturity. If you are not self aware, you don’t know you aren’t self aware. Just like narcissism…it prevents you from seeing your own narcissism.
I’ve made several comments on several UA-cams about me being scared of pride. I got crickets (no responses). I’ve was able to name the feeling of being scared of pride but never has anyone been able to explain it. TY so much for helping me understand this more!!!
It would have been good if you could have dug deeper into the causes of self deception, because that’s really where the problem lies. Joel Covered the original cause in the garden, and Jim alluded to rationalization and justification, but unless people understand more clearly what is driving their personal self deception, it’s not likely they will be able to move forward, or even acknowledge that self deception is taking place.
@@Tass3030 I agree, shame and/or pride as well as fear - that I think is a big one. Fear of being rejected and instead of facing whatever we need to face, we become prideful (covertly). Just a thought. I am no theologian or dr. or psychiatrist...
my mother in law, a self pro fessed christian has been confronted on a few separate occasions, by family members who’ve rebuked her behavior….she said they’re lairs because she is a ‘good’ person, altho her behavior is obvious to those who witness it. She has twisted the truth, amd slandered, gossiped, lied, smeared her accusers…so now she is even less ‘good’-uhg! Shes deceiving herself. She has plotted mist family members Against her accusers.

Self-deception is the curious phenomena where the person being deceived is doing the deceiving.
Paraphrasing of Dr. Greg Bahsen

Do you have other ideas you can kindly share? This episode is quite thought-provoking. So amazed that I can actually get to learn from this group.
I’m thinking that maybe shame and or pride ( like he said) is the cause???

Romans 7:15 is the verse he references around the 6 minute mark, not Romans 10:15. Blessings 🤍
