Commercials were in the Soviet Union? Why? It seems since the USSR was Socialist, there would be no commercials. Were products still advertised?

@@friedice6846 Sure we had, lame ones but kind of funny. You can watch them on the Borat movie DVD extras.

@@friedice6846 Like "Keep your money in Savings Bank" or "Fly Aeroflot airplanes." Commercials play many functions: to inform about new products, to create positive image for a product, to stimulate consumption of a certain product - so USSR did commercials but not at a such rate as in capitalist countries. Although TV shows were absolutely free of commercials, no interruption of a show or a movie with a commercial. There were special commercial blocks 2-3 times a day, inserted on fixed time between programs or movies. The daily TV program was in the newspaper, if you want to watch a commercial you turn the TV on at certain time and watch.

commercials did exist in the ussr but very few were made and they were aired very rarily except for the periods between 1989-1991 when the ussr started to open up and import western goods@@friedice6846

Oh, the Yamaha sound (DX7?). Everyone owning a SoundBlaster or a MegaDrive / Genesis should be VERY familiar with that sounds, since it's the same synthesizer more or less :-)

It was a compilation called "Pulse/Пульс" released by "Melodia/Мелодия" in USSR. Artists as in desctiption are B.Tikhomirov and A.Rodionov. There were 2 discs as I remember. I can look around for vinyl discs, certainly some people still have them.

Не найдёшь этой музыки ни на ебэй, ни на амазон. Скорее всего на свалке все пластинки, или у редких ценителей этого хлама.

    Terrestrial maybe, but not universal.
