Do you need to be good with computers
One of the most down to earth and sincere physicians I have seen that isn't condescending to other healthcare/ medical professions. Awesome interview!
As a Junior in HS I am so thankful you posted this! Im just finding what a Physiatrist was like nobody has ever talked to me about it 😂 I was interested in Physical Therapy but now PM&R
Hey, it’s great you’re taking the initiative to explore career options so early! I don’t think I even knew what a physiatrist was till late in undergrad or early in med school. I’m happy you found the video helpful- thank you for watching. Best of luck on your journey- you got this!
Adnan A you too!!!
Thank you!
literally me
Love the way that UA-cam's algorithm is feeding me sometimes exactly the things that I need most!
I’m glad the video was useful!
What an MVP! There is so much good advise and experience that the physician shares. Your questions were oriented towards a topic, but gave him lots of room to talk. Awesome video!
AIJ Thank you so much! I agree- Dr. Davis is great!
Awesome interview, seriously. I'm now thinking of pursuing sports medicine because of this. You asked all the questions I wanted to/needed to know. Plus, Dr. Davis seems like a genuinely dope guy. Thanks for providing this for future doctors!
Bropatz No problem! I’m glad it helped introduce you to what might be your future career. You gotta keep us posted if you do end up going into sports med. Yeah, Dr. Davis is great!
Great vid, thanks! This Dr was amazingly helpful!
No problem- thank you for watching! I agree, he’s great!
I’m still in undergrad and this video is really helpful cause I didn’t know much about PM&R. Thanks so much man
PM&R is a hidden gem. Happy it helped!
These extended interviews are insightful.
Glad you enjoyed it!
This is amazing. Im on same boat with loving sports med and psychiatry
Thanks Adam! Those are both great specialties!
I listened to this on my drive back to college (left for the weekend) and only made it halfway through. I did not want to stop listening and cannot wait to finish this! Such a cool career this man has had. I'm a junior undergrad pursuing PMR and this is incredibly helpful information.
That’s dedication. It’s a long journey but it’ll be worth it- good luck!
Cool video! I'm a pre-med from Sac with interest in physiatry and happen to be a Sac Republic fan 😊
Oh nice, a local. Good luck on your journey- you got this 🙌! And thank you!
Due thanks for the video! I've really been thinking about this specialty
TallDarkNIndian Np, glad it helped! I like your account name btw- nice play on words.
Please reach out to your local PM&R doc and see if he/ she has rotations for you to get involved in.
Loved the interview with Dr. Davis!
Tim Kobayashi It was a pleasure to have him!
Thank you for the review.
this specialty sounds dope. good stuff
Yeah, look into it more or maybe try to shadow if you’re interested 🙌
Thank you so much!!
No problem, thank you for watching!
blood and guts...THIS IS GREATTTT
Broken Girl Thank you! 🙏
Amazing questions man!
Lavish Lion Thank you!
Thank u so much for this great video 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻
sushmitha Diego No problem, thank you for watching!
COOOl!! Im between ortho vs PM&R
Elias D Reyes I was considering both, but ortho takes so much more work. Good luck in whatever path you take!
I went PM&R after several Ortho rotations. My recommendation - if you don't want to do surgery, don't do any surgical specialty. If you love the OR, you won't be as happy outside of it.
He is explaining well
I think so too!
UA-cam>medical school
2 Much Adil Yaas, sister
Without UA-cam and Google, I wouldn't be able to practice medicine anymore!
Adnan A, that’s a man.
currently a pre clinical, pmr sounds awesome ! workin with athlete is like my dream
I agree! It’s probably the best specialty for working with athletes, especially if you’re not very interested in surgery.
He is amazing
Yeah, Dr. Davis has done a lot of cool things. I’d love to work with Olympic athletes in the future.
Thank you so much for the kind words.
Can you interview the Anabolic Doc, the outline for that interview alone would be interesting...
Bro, I’d be down but idk if he’d wanna collab with a small youtuber. I’ll try though
For anyone who is wondering, you don't need a referral from an MD or DO to see a DPT. This is just the traditional way of things. Because of this, not all of the burden of making mistakes is fully on physicians. Additionally, in Europe, depending on the country in which you reside, you are also allowed to prescribe medications to patients as a DPT.
I didn’t know that about Europe. Thanks for sharing
@@DrAdnan Your videos are amazing keep it up
@@norman9052 thank you so much!!!
still cant decide whether i’d wanna try to fall into the career of a pm&r/dpt... both are interesting to me /: overall, great video !
Dpt is more rehab, less diagnosis, more hands on training with patients. Pmr is more medicine, diagnosis, etc does that help?
And thank you! I’ve interviewed a pt too so that might help
@@DrAdnan idk both careers seem appealing to my eyes... hopefully ill decide which to pursue by the end of year... & i’d checked out your pt interview, answered most of my qs & really informative !
Thank you! Hope you find more clarity- I can’t recommend shadowing enough
Isn't this some kind of trying to wrestle pt? In many places, pt allowed to diagnose diseases and treat independently. You know doctors always want to lead but i see them not winning this with pt.
My sister is iin the Sports med program at Boston!
Cassidy Hope Nice, there are some great sports med programs out there!
What factors made you ultimately choose FM over PM&R?
Breadth! I like the idea of being able to treat and know a little of everything
What is the name of the physiatrist? Excellent interview. I’m a medical student in route to be physiatrist. I love the way he expressed. Is inspiration to me. Thank you for the interview
Dr. Brian Davis- he’s great! I’m glad you found your calling, and also found the interview useful. No problem- thank you for watching!
Also good luck with the journey!
@@DrAdnan appreciated. Thank you. Good luck too
Np, thank you!!
Can you do cardiac surgery, my parents want me to become surgeon
No he cannot
For this kind of job do you need to be good with computers
Not really, though things like fast typing speed will help you write patient notes faster.
That's so nice of you bro
Thanks for replying
I an really considering this as a career path for me I love your channel.
No problem, you can do it if you work hard! Thank you!
🎙 🎥👌
J E 🙏🙏🙂
Did he mention what he majored and minored in college?
I don’t believe he did- I’d assume it was one of the common premed ones since I don’t believe he was a career changer
@@DrAdnan thanks, I’m a senior in high school and plan on taking this routers being a physiatrist .I’ll structure my major on sports medicine and minor in kinesiology.
Sports med seems like the only reasonable route
Adil So you’re gonna apply to medical school?
I was just a so-so athlete. I decided that I loved working with athletes of all levels. I considered Cardiology, Radiology and other Internal Medicine specialties. PM&R and Sports really wowed me. Do a rotation - see if it's right for you.
15:41 - I'm surprised chiropractors are also in this spectrum, despite being looked down upon in public eye.
I think they have a place in the healthcare system. I interviewed one recently- it might be fun seeing his thoughts!
@@DrAdnan do you have a date on when that will be released? I’m curious to the type of practice he runs - either EB or straight
I haven’t edited it yet and I’m starting rotations again tomorrow, so probably late Jan-Feb
I see a sports med when i Bike
Tim McGHraw Hopefully you don’t get injured too much :)
School sports should be compulsory
They’re very important, I agree
