This game is one of my all-time favorite games. I first played this game at 9 years old, before playing any Zelda game and before knowing anything about it's history. This was the first game of it's genre I had ever experienced and it completely blew my mind. Now I am much older, I have played many many games and I know it's history, but the love I had for this game as child never left. I will always view this game with sort of rose tinted glasses as I've never been able to see the bad points.
god i miss this game. I dont know why people didn't like it. i LOVED it. when my gamecube broke i flipped out. cuz i couldnt play the only game that i EVER actually played on the gamecube. My sister has the wii so i couldn't play star fox. I am forever sad.
It was less about the quality of the story and more other factors: 1. yes, the story was admittedly kinda bad, they center krystal as the cover character then toss her to the side after about a half hour, half-ass why fox has to use the staff instead of a gun, don't cover why the arwing cant be used to fast travel, and throw away general scales for andross out of nowhere. 2. starfox isnt meant to be a zelda game, the puzzles got samey quick, combat became copy paste almost instantly, and exploring and sidequests were near non-existant 3. Tricky gets irritating after 10 minutes 4. With the exceptions of the first and last bosses, they weren't that good 5. most of your power-ups are almost completly useless after you use it for the story
I've always loved this game. I can so clearly remember the time in my life when I first played it, and then each subsequent time I played through. For some reason, it's always kind of been a "feel-good" game for me. Plus, it has my favorite Nintendo soundtrack of all time. Speaking of the music, has anyone else noticed that the "Test of Observation" piece sounds kind of like "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of These)" by the Eurythmics?
I definitely hear you there.. This game doesn't deserve nearly as much flack as it gets, and to this day I still love it to bits. I will say that there ARE points in it that kind of make me facepalm now that I'm older, but like I said in the video it just kind of adds to the charm at this point.
This game holds a lot of value for me as it was one of the first games I really got into when I was really young. Safe to say I'm excited to view all of these episodes!
I really like how they showed the Star Fox team down on their luck. Their equipment worn and outdated, their team only half complete and everything else. It makes seeing them together in Assault really something special. It also feels really great to see the new high tech great fox and the new really cool Arwings as you have the feeling that you worked really hard to earn it all. I also really liked how we got to go in dept into a Star Fox planet. Normally as we go from planet to planet we only see the basics of what that planet is but now we get to explore it's environments, lore, citizens and everything. Also that sidestory in Assault about Sauria was by far the most emotional one and I think the best part of that game and it wouldn't have existed without this.
10:40 funny how her shadow keeps bending up and down even though krystal is standing up the whole. This was my fourth gamecube game I got it as a middle school graduation present. Great to see this LP'd!
Coming in here from the Mario 3D World LP of the Runawayguys, I got interested in this LP of one of my more favorite Gamecube games back in the day, and I gotta say, I do like your energetic voice, Masae. I'll be looking forward to watch more of your content.
Dude, I didn't even realize it sounded like Balut! xD Now that you mention it, it really does! I've never actually had Balut, but I wouldn't mind trying it someday if I get the chance.
My voice probably sounds different because I upgraded my mic since my last LP. :) The old one was starting to fall apart! Thank you so much, I'm glad you enjoyed my ToV LP!
Masae its so good to see you up and running with a new LP. I've only watched your Yoshi's island LP but instantly fell in love. Keep up the great work and so glad you're also doing this game :)
This game was the first game I ever owned for the game cube, and in my opinion is one of the best games on the console. Anyway, can't wait to see this lp to the end for the nostalgia feels
Destiny Fucker This game along with Super Mario Sunshine was the first game I owned for my Gamecube and since I was a stupid little shit being a 6 or 7 year old kid, I hated it with a passion because I couldn't read or solve puzzles
I never played this game, but I did noticed some similarities to Legends of Zelda. And I find it funny how they have to do the Treasure Chest pose just like how Legends of Zelda does it, and I get learn a little a bit about you.
After being exposed to the intricacies of FNAF, I cannot look at Starfox characters the same way ever again... _how will I survive watching through this entire LP...?_ o.o
Wow, thank you for all the insight on the game. I almost know nothing about it, so it's cool to get some insight. And I agree that the game does look amazing. The water effects near the end look very nice. Definitely looking forward to this. :)
I'll be honest here, and I'm pretty sure people have noticed this by now but, that key sorta looks like a giant knife. Not sure how but it just does, at least in my opinion.
I remember this was the closest thing I ever got to playing a Zelda game for the longest time. It's a lot of fun if you don't think of it as a Starfox game.
Re watching these videos to pass time, and DANG the music is pretty. Gives me a really nice Ecco the Dolphin, Defender of the Future vibe... I'm...also getting deja-vu from typing that. xD
so a build of Dinosaur Planet for the N64 was dumped about 4 days ago. If you like Star Fox Adventures then Dinosaur Planet is the way to go due to it being it's prototype

this is the only Star Fox game i enjoyed for some reason.... your sending me down memory lane AND I get to enjoy your own touch which make it BETTER! yay! XD
Masae would be Zelda and I have a Mental Image. Masae in a steel cage trapped by Ganondorf and Metal Face and then Emile would we riding in on Epona with Bowser's Arms stuck to the bottom of her neck while Emile's Holding a Red Monado with Yellow Light,With tim covering his chest while holding to Emile while Shouting SO HAPPY!!! While Jon his On the front of Emile's chest while machine gunning Footballs. Then Josh and SuperJeenius are clinging to his legs acting as Leg Armor and then his 4 drones become Monado Dogma's with Sedna Drones attached to the bottom and that spike tipped part split in half also sticking to the bottom of the Sedna Drones then with the top portion having Fiora's original drones and Metal Face's Cannon attached to him! so in all DOES THAT PROVE CHUGGAA'S BRAIN IS ULTIMATE BADASSERY AND BAD PUNS AND WITH EPIC NO'S ON THE SIDE OF THE DINNER PLATE? BECAUSE I SURE DO and quite frankly i gotta make myself Emile HA HA!!!! I AM THE CHUGGA CLONE AND I LOVE IT
Does anyone else feel like it is time for a new SF game? possibly one a little more mature (not M rated), but one with a more developed relationship between the characters and a darker tone.
I'm gonna try to update daily, but as usual it does depend on what's going on in life. I may have to miss a day or two here and there if I'm too busy. :)
In order for you to collect the almighty spirit you must play a mini game from Mario Party! :P I'm really looking forward to seeing this LP. I've never played this game before so I really wanna see more of it. Great job Masae and I can't wait for more. :D
this star fox game was one of the first gamecube games ive owned, plus the gamecube was the first system that was mine, it wasnt the first systen ive played, i think it was playstation that ive played first
Knew about this game back in the N64 Magazines back when it was known as Dinosaur Planet. One of many games that could have been lost to Vaporware due to the N64 version being cancelled so close to it being completed, thankfully RARE released this beautiful game on the Nintendo GameCube and despite loosing some of the Dinosaur Planet original characters like Sabre and Kite as well as that Talking Statue that was supposed to have played a larger role. But all the better for the game being on the Nintendo GameCube because the original scope was way too big for the N64 to handle. Also due to the Microsoft purchase of RARE, the developer had a strict time limit to release the game for the Nintendo GameCube and due to them having the StarFox license attached to this Dinosaur Planet game, they had to release it on the Nintendo console preventing Microsoft of having this on their XBox platform.
I will say this game was rather fun to play, but what urks me about it most is how the story plays out. Will comment more about it later to prevent spoilers.
I actually like this game a lot. It has a few problems here and there, (mainly that for all the cues it takes from Zelda, there's not really anything extra to do besides the main quest, and that Krystal doesn't get to do much. Would've been cool if you played as Fox for the SpellStone parts and Krystal for the Krazoa Spirits, then both in the endgame sections), but overall I enjoy it.
I actually never played a zelda game before when I got this game, so this was all a new experience, which was why I think I enjoyed it so much as a kid.
10:57 crystal's exercising shadow. also I'm part Filipino too. I have family members in Missouri, the Philippines, Canada, japan, Hong Kong, Germany, Russia, north Carolina, California and Pennsylvania.
I think Adventures is a real Gamecube game; with all the pros and cons that come with that. The Gamecube really is it's own thing. It doesn't rely on nostalgia or grand promises. It just does it's own thing in it's own time and you can like it or not. I far prefer this over something like Star Fox Zero which is just a retelling of 64 rather than truly it's own thing.
I'm surprised you didn't mentioned that the sound that plays when you walk on metal is the same as the one in Conker's Bad Fur Day (Something small, but whatever xD) Great Episode Masae :D Keep up the great work :3
Star Fox Adventures, while I love it the way it is, REALLY should have been Dinosaur Planet in the end. If it would have turned out that way, Rare wouldn't have mucked with the Star Fox lore (turning Krystal into a permanent part of the Star Fox series, Planet Sauria, Prince Tricky, etc.), the story would have made tons more sense (Fox and company wouldn't be duck taped onto a world that doesn't need them), and the game itself would have been much more expansive and amazing. Looking at the beta footage, it looks like Rare was setting it up to be a 100% hit for the N64 at the ass-end of it's life cycle. It would have been better on the Gamecube! God, if only it was finished... if only. :/ But! Let me say, I love Krystal as a character, and Star Fox Adventures was a fantastic game in the end, even though it didn't start out a Star Fox game. I still have fond memories with the game, and it's still enjoyable to me even today.
I don't feel like it mucked with the star fox lore much at all. The only thing that connects this to the overall Star Fox lore is Andross who yes is a questionable inclusion. But outside of that I felt it really added to it. To have a planet with nature and mystery that is fairly isolated. It's not like it's not possible, we still have villages and places in the amazon that are fairly primitive. It really felt like the Lylatt system is very large with many different places. I loved that we got to see a planet in dept and really got a chance to appreciate it. I really wish they would do something like this again. That rather than fight on all kinds of different planets focus an entire game and plot onto just 1 planet. Maybe the next time corneria or another more developed planet. Maybe it's just me but I always felt the sidequests of Zelda more a drag on it than anything else. It just keeps distracting you and making you forget what you are doing instead of feeling focused and like what you do matters. I'm not so fond of OOT for that reason as I always felt it to be pretty confusing and aimless. While Adventures does have a few moments like that they are the exception rather than the norm like they were in OOT. In terms of Zelda I far prefer TP over OOT as TP feels a lot more focused and clear. The sidequests drag it down as well but there aren't as many and they aren't as intrusive. Star Fox indeed wasn't needed but I think the contrast itself works great. Making Fox somewhat of a foil to all the magic and tradition that's happening around him. Finally I think this game really added a lot to Assault. Seeing that new high tech great Fox and those fancy new Arwings knowing you paid for them with all the hard work you did in adventures just makes it so much more meaningful. It really makes the Star Fox team feel real, not just a group of heroes but a real team who have their ups and downs. You see them down on their luck here and so it is all the more exciting to see them in their full glory again in Assault. I'm not so quick to say I wished it wasn't a Star Fox game as that sense of humanization and realism would have been lost. I also prefer Krystal over Peppy as the fourth member as she adds a sense of mystery and empathy to the Starfox team. I felt Peppy shines much more in the role of mentor and father figure than he does as a frontline pilot.
Finally you're back! I never really played Starfox but then again, neither did I really play Zelda unless you got me into the franchise :P Maybe you can even get me into this genre :3 Anyway, good part, keep up the great work!
Not really gonna promise 100% because I really find a lot of the fuel cells to be really pointless.. But I know where a LOT of them are so it might end up being 100% anyway. Hahaha
It's true what they say, you are like a female Chugga, but only sounds cuter, and with a different style of playing... and a different person. You've gained a watcher !
I'm glad there's someone else besides me that actually likes this game. I mean this is FAR from the best starfox game (and a zelda clone), but it's still fun.
Due to my incredible ability to create an impenetrable knot of video game cords I am unable to play this game right now. Mom and I originally thought we'd gotten the wrong version due to the foreign language. I actually like how Krystal looks when possessed.
i like this game because its so different than the others where you only fly around. but in this and assault the changed it to be a on foot game too which i like. i don't care what people say about those two games the are awesome.
By the way, I have another glitch for you to try that you didn't show off. After getting the Krazoa spirit, go into first person mode as soon as you stand on the elevator. The camera will stay in one place while the pillar continues to rise.

People don't like it because the story is weaker since they made it a Starfox game last second.
wtf starfox adventures has the BESTEST storyline like ever xD

Joe Scirrotto The way how star fox is supposed to b is how the creators want it. not u or anyone else. It ise their title.
HeyThereVader I didn't say this was a bad game, just explaining why this game wasn't liked
I've always loved this game. I can so clearly remember the time in my life when I first played it, and then each subsequent time I played through. For some reason, it's always kind of been a "feel-good" game for me. Plus, it has my favorite Nintendo soundtrack of all time.

OMG she actually did Star Fox Adventures! I love this game! I literally cleaned out the store except for renewable items and the artifact.

Database of The Green Cumulon They should me a Sequel with the Game just about Krystal or at LEAST a Krystal Game of sorts
Database of The Green Cumulon Mine too
Krystal approves your gameplay :) hope you see this
I'm glad you like the insight. :) This game really has an interesting beta history, and I wanted to share what I knew!
I love this game! This is definitely one of my top 5 favorite Gamecube games

I'll be discovering the game with your LP, and it looks pretty nice so far.
Yes, really. :) Thank you so much, glad you liked it!

Thank you so much! :) It's great to be back!
WOW! I adored this game. Some very fond memories. Love your videos by the way : )
I remember this was the closest thing I ever got to playing a Zelda game for the longest time. It's a lot of fun if you don't think of it as a Starfox game.

I actually didn't know that! I haven't played Conker's Bad Fur Day, so I didn't recognize it. That's really interesting though! Thank you!
This vid just made my day!! Thanks Masae, just what I needed to cheer up!
I remember watching this at such a young age..good old days..I’m twelve and I already feel like I’ve wasted my life..
so a build of Dinosaur Planet for the N64 was dumped about 4 days ago. If you like Star Fox Adventures then Dinosaur Planet is the way to go due to it being it's prototype
I've NEVER actually seen this game before. "Tutorialdactyl"? I'm sold already. XD
It kind of has the mechanics of Zelda and some basic platformers, but a visual style that leans a little more toward Banjo Kazooie.
I can see why people might be turned off early. I mean, it starts with Krystal/Crystal, there's no indication of where Fox and Co. are yet and seems to have very little story context so far. I have barely any idea what her exact position in the story is and where she is and stuff and we're already picking up items and fighting Biri (where'd those come from again? 0__o ) XD
All that's apparent so far is the Krazoa are the Chozo/Muah/Forerunners of this world and will likely be providing most of the game's plot relevant items and abilities in some way. :D
This is supposed to be before star fox assault in the time line this is supposed to introduce Krystal and why she is with Fox and Co. in that game this is like her backstory and how she became who she is

Love this game, need to order it on amazon later, though I NEVER got past the Krazoa after the second dungeon.
In order for you to collect the almighty spirit you must play a mini game from Mario Party! :P
I'm really looking forward to seeing this LP. I've never played this game before so I really wanna see more of it. Great job Masae and I can't wait for more. :D
I remember playing this years ago, so glad you're playing it :)
i wished that you did this a while back when i played this...i still have it and prolly gonna play this again
One of my favorite LPers playing one of my favorite games? It's Chugga's Ōkami LP all over again! :3
Only 15 seconds, and already Portal references, AWESOME!
I can tell that Scales is going to be an epic fight and not a total letdown
i...LOVE..this game. One of my favorite Gamecube games
this star fox game was one of the first gamecube games ive owned, plus the gamecube was the first system that was mine, it wasnt the first systen ive played, i think it was playstation that ive played first
I really can't wait for StarFox Wii U WOOOHOOO SO FREAKING EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!
SAME HERE! Its way overdue xD
***** Which means it's not getting rushed like Sonic Boom.
HAHA YEP
I just wish Krystal was in it, her character had much potential that the existing games kinda squandered.
Tiny Starfox Masae saying derp is so cute. :3
At 10:46, Krystal is standing completely still, but her shadow is moving.
I love this game it was my first GameCube game ahh the memories
Haha, I'm glad you're excited for it! Thank you!

Bwaaahhh, I remember this game! So many fond memories...
Good luck on the many Starfox adventures to come, madam! :3

If it makes you feel any better for saying "Zelda's Pose" She did that same pose when she gave Link the Light Arrow in OoT! :D
Tutorialdactyl is actually the CloudRunner Princess, Kyte.
omg this is my favorite game and im so happy you did this lp!
best starfox ever
I still say 64 was better.
thecplman1 definitely agreeable
Eduardo Yáñez I prefer assault
Haha, glad to be back! :)
I find Krystal so attractive.

But!
Funny thing, out of all let's players I've ever known of, Masae has the greatest voice.
Nicolas approves. ; )
Seeing the ship built on an actual dinosaur reminds me a bit of the titans in Xenoblade Chronicles 2
I saw it, sorry I haven't had the chance to reply yet. Been running around all day, so I'll have to get back to you on that tomorrow!
Glad you like her! :D
I'll try to upload daily! :)
Theres nothing like watching a Masae video while eating French Fries :3
Finally you're back! I never really played Starfox but then again, neither did I really play Zelda unless you got me into the franchise :P Maybe you can even get me into this genre :3 Anyway, good part, keep up the great work!
Actually, that exact thing happened to me as well. I had to pick up another copy for the LP. :\ That really sucks.
Warp point. *squeaky* shine!!
ok with that (10:45) you officially top my favorite LPers of this game
first game I ever owned on Gamecube. I got it in a starter set with a guide to the game. Good times :)
truth be told i've been looking for this on youtube for a long time
Not really gonna promise 100% because I really find a lot of the fuel cells to be really pointless.. But I know where a LOT of them are so it might end up being 100% anyway. Hahaha
Favorite character is Krystal
It's true what they say, you are like a female Chugga, but only sounds cuter, and with a different style of playing... and a different person. You've gained a watcher !
Oh wow! I used to love this game o.o how did I forget about it...?
I'm glad there's someone else besides me that actually likes this game. I mean this is FAR from the best starfox game (and a zelda clone), but it's still fun.
no.... IT'S NOT GOOD. ITS THE BESTEST GAME EVER XDDD 😍😍😄😄
Man that Puk Puk egg description reminds me of Balut. I could go for some Balut right now.
"LEE DOOMSOO TAVOOK *GENERAL SCALES*"
Thank you so much! :)
One of my 2nd favorite star fox game i enjoy playing :)
