Star Wars: Battlefront is a first and third-person video game based on battles in the Star Wars film series. It was developed by Pandemic Studios and LucasArts, and released on September 21, 2004 for PlayStation 2, Xbox and Microsoft Windows to coincide the release of the Star Wars Trilogy DVD set. Aspyr released a Macintosh port in July 2005. A cellular phone version, entitled Star Wars Battlefront Mobile was released November 1, 2005. A sequel, Star Wars: Battlefront II, was also released on November 1, 2005 for Windows, Xbox, PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable. The game is primarily played as a conquest game, however other modes such as Galactic Conquest bring strategy elements to the title.Battlefront features several locales from major Star Wars battles, and includes voice acting from veteran voice actors Temuera Morrison, Tom Kane, and Nick Jameson. It received generally favorable reviews from critics, averaging approximately an 80% approval rating across all platforms at aggregate websites GameRankings and Metacritic. Critics praised the multiplayer component and the ability to play a part in major Star Wars battles, however the lacking single player component and poor AI were points of concern. Gameplay: Star Wars: Battlefront encompasses battles between four main factions from both the original and prequel trilogies: the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems (CIS) from the prequel era, and the Rebel Alliance and Galactic Empire from the original trilogy. In each faction, five different classes of character become available. Four main classes are similar for each faction, infantry, heavy weapons, pilot and sniper, while the fifth is unique. Each faction also has an non-playable hero character that participates in battle for a limited amount of time: Count Dooku (CIS), Mace Windu (Republic), Luke Skywalker (Rebels), and Darth Vader (Empire). Gameplay in Battlefront is conquest-based. Each faction has a finite amount of reinforcements, and each is given control of a set number of command posts in a given level.The object is to either eliminate enemy forces or capture and hold all command posts simultaneously for 20 seconds. Several ground and air vehicles are available on the battlefield. These range from the hulking AT-AT to the fast speeder bike and vary based on the level. There are more than 25 vehicles in-game. Some larger vehicles also function as mobile command posts, which cannot be captured, but are lost if the vehicle is destroyed. In addition, some maps have indigenous forces. These can be neutral to both factions, such as Jawas, hostile to one faction, such as Wookies, or hostile to both factions, such as Tusken Raiders. Command posts belonging to hostile natives can also be captured to minimize their presence.The Microsoft Windows and Macintosh versions of Star Wars: Battlefront can be played online with up to 64 players on via local area network (LAN) or over the internet via GameSpy. The PlayStation 2 and Xbox versions can accommodate up to 32 players or can be played in splitscreen mode with two players. The PlayStation 2 version utilizes specialized GameSpy servers, while the Xbox utilized Microsoft's Xbox Live network.[3] Xbox online play is no longer available as the original Xbox Live servers were shut down on April 15, 2010.Single-player modes While the game is played similarly in every mode, each is a unique scenario which utilizes mode-specific features to further extend gameplay. Three modes are presented to the player: Campaign, which serves as the game's story mode, Galactic Conquest, in which the player must conquer planets, and Instant Action, which allows the player to select the battle they wish to play and adjust settings such as reinforcements to their liking.Campaign groups several battles together in a set order loosely based on the historical campaign of either the Clone Wars or the Galactic Civil War. As Episode III had not been released at the time, the Clone Wars campaign ends with the Battle of Kashyyyk. Footage from the five films then released are used as cutscenes between battles. The player starts the campaign as either a member of the Separatist army or an Imperial Stormtrooper.

IMO Battlefront 1 was BETTER than Battlefront 2. Sure. space combat in BF2 was cool, but the actual ground maps were a lot better in BF1, with Dune Sea and this version of Geonosis being my absolute favorites.

Definitely! BF1 also had aditional map specific NPCs, like tuskens, bugs, ewoks, etc. that made it feel even more like an actual battle

This mission used to drive me bonkers. I kept dying trying to take the fight to the droids on the ground. Droidekas were the worst to deal with, once their shields went up I had to run for cover. The key to beating this mission for me was using the LAAT Gunships.

That's what I realised just today. Using the Gunship made this map an absolute cakewalk to go through
YES! I always jump in to the gunships or the AT TEs and just keep picking off the droidekas and blow up their command posts
Had a play of this map earlier. Whilst I prefer Battlefront II, I think this version of Geonosis is better, as it's more accurate to the film, and you can fly the gunships. Hard if you're playing as the Republic, as the Droidekas and Geonosians are a pain!
class87fan the bf2 version of this map is rubbish if u ask me.. Seems a lot smaller as well, not sure how true that is tho.
@@tealeafandco the BF2 version is based off of Republic Commando's setting, which is why it's smaller and there's more caves and bunkers on it

@@tealeafandco yeah Geonosis in BF1 is definitely bigger and more interactive, but BF2 does have the tunnels, hangars and bunkers which were a nice nod to Republic Commando

Unfortunately the New Crap just doesn't Compare from a Game Play point of view... I LOVED the Space Battles. If you wanted a Different Ship you could just Land on Either Side's Capital Ship and jump into a Fresh Ship and Get Back Into The Fight!
Sad thing is, Geonosis here has more content for the player than Geonosis in BF2 DICE.
When Clones actually sounded like Clones. I don't know why the hell they had to replace the Clone voices with American accents in the second one. Completely inaccurate to the films...

When I turned 3 in 2004 I started playing this game, I played it till 2010 until my computer broke. This is one of the greatest star wars games in my opinion and it really got me into Star Wars. And the multiplayer never was filled with too good or to bad players it was perfectly balanced!

I remember sleeping over at my aunt’s house, staying up waaay past bedtime, on her Xbox 360 with lots of random games and I discovered this. Oh my, the memories. I could not blink! Suddenly I was a part of the clone wars and I can proudly say I fought through it.
When i played this mission in skirmish (by myself) i would take the gunship, load it up with clones and fly to the rear of the droids base in the mountain. Then like clone commandos they dismounted and charged in to capture the point. It was rarely successful but very thematic. I loved role playing the gunship pilot. Fuck man, they dont make them like this anymore....

yes bro, the voice of temuera morrison is the best for the clones, the truth is they sound rude and intimidating as if he were a general of the military forces, I would have liked very much that temuera morrison would interpret the voice of the clones again in battlferont 2 of 2017 , I hope that in a possible battlefront 3 in the future, Temuera Morrison will interpret the voice of the clones again, it would be very epic

@ it's not a fact. What is a fact is that BF2 has more content, more units, heroes, space battles and actually rewards players for being good at the game (special units, award rifle, damage increase, etc).

Then 343 industries should've remastered this game I'd mean this game was the best game along with Halo 2 and others games they made in the past , this is the game that takes us a while back and it's was so awesome to play with along with Halo 2 they could've remaster this game .
geonosis for BF1 was always hard to win as the Republic, mostly cuz of those damn droidekas
10 years later, and star wars battlefront is now shrunken into cod game mode style with no big battles, space battles, strategic galactic conquest, and most importantly, NO VEHICLES AT ALL...where did all the fun go, such a disappointment.

Uhhh, if you played as the rebels in battlefront EA, you literally chose between a fighter and a worthless speeder bike....thats it. 2 genosis levels in the original battlefronts had twice as many vehicles as the new battlefronts ENTIRE GAME, so yes it is true 10x over.

Man so many memories form this game I remember one night I played on planet hoth and my dad made rice pudding that night so he had a go on the game and he loved it
Funny how when you're a kid you can create a " game within a game". I used to fly the gunship around and pretend I was providing air support, then I would pick up troops, and drop them off at an enemy base so they could take it, then repeat the process.

actually, BF2 is a more orientated Battlefield Gameplay, which is what I hate. I wouldn't mind if they gave us more of call of duty gameplay, at least your guns will do damage there.

1. If you want the game on PC, you'll have to track down a physical copy from Ebay or "borrow it" from a site (nicoblog.org/ has a copy of it). Unfortunately, Steam and GOG don't have the game for some reason. If you have an Xbox 1, you can get a copy of the original Xbox version of Battlefront 1 and play it since it's a backward compatible game. You could also emulate the PS2 version on PC, but the PC version is the best version of the game so there's no reason to play an inferior version.
2. You don't need a modern gaming computer to run the game optimally. I had an old Thinkpad t400 that ran the game perfect on some lowered settings, and that laptop was usually shit with gaming. Any computer or laptop (excluding stuff like netbooks and chromebooks) from this decade should have no trouble running the game.
As of 5/1/19 you can get the game on Steam/GOG/Origin
One thing bad about this game: the blaster fires are too loud cannot hear the music

The great thing about this game was that you didn't even have to like Star Wars to enjoy it. Some of the people I played with didn't give a shit about star wars. To them, it was just an awesome futuristic sci fi battlefield game.

I could b wrong, but I think this was the only level u could b down to your last fighter and last until u killed all of them. If u were the republic(? Whatever the clone troopers were) u could hop in one of the transports, hover above that base (so your ammo kept replenishing) and wait for them to come and pick everyone off

My brother and,I use to play the heck out of this game lol I just to be the pilot flying and he was the,solder on the batttlefield I was air support and I didn't get shot down at all but they be easy destroying the droidakas with the gunships lol they need,to put thes on the ps4 just like this No new stuff I swear the,gun sounds was so right on the new ones but I like the graphics better lol but still a GREAT GAME LOL
