  • Finally, it's time to get this Super Sherpa put back together following the diagnosis, strip down & parts replacement.
Here's a video showing the re-fitting of the engine's cylinder head, including all the relevant torque settings, valve timing and measuring valve clearance too.
If you have any questions then please add them to the comments section and I'll get back to you just as soon as I can.

Another tip is put a long zip tie on the cam chain and it makes it easier to feed through the head

Andy, Thank u so much for this video. I have a 2009 sherpa and changed my shims under the buckets of exaust valves. It Went super good but I couldn't figure out how the hell to re-assemble the fancy tensioner....Thanks to u, I could finally know in witch order to put back the bigger diameter spring, the bearing and the inside cup. I really apreciate your trick to push the bearing at the bottom of the body of the tensioner and the procedure to retain it in place with the special bolt that is there for that purpose. Many mystery around this concept for me. I just don't get it. The missing spring is, to me, the only thing that pushes on the guiding bar against the chain and it's permenantely under pressure of that spring. I don't see the use for the bearring cup and second spring. I love ur videos !!!!!

It's a good idea to make sure there's no burrs on the inside the guide dowels that's the head bolts go in with the rubber on.they tear up the rubber seals if there sharp

+Don Turner That's a good point Don. Yes, those seals do look easily damaged. Cheers for the advice. Andy

What is the reason that did you not check the clearances with just the 'bare' cams fitted before fitting the chain, sprockets etc..?

+Frank Todd truth be told....I like to load up the cams as they would be in normal use. May sound daft but there will be a tiny amount of play (clearance) on the cam bearings which may affect the clearance a little. Not something a shop would do as it takes time but I'm in no rush when making the videos.
Thanks for watching. Cheers for now. Andy

Fairy Nuff! I just thought that if I was doing that job, I'd have done it with the head on the bench. But as you have more experience than I have, I thought I'd ask why you did it that way.
Thanks for the reply, much appreciated Frank
