The one thing iv learned on the 540xp you can do is put a small leather strap or something on the springs that holds the handle to the body. When you get it pinched and yank it out it pulls the electronics out of the handle. Iv done it several times but we are rough on our saws.
I like at the moment of 18.24 they realize the electric saw isn't cut out to do the job. Electric saws are for hobbies or arborist that aren't using them all the time love your guys videos keep making them
Running the t540i in the bucket chunking down white oak legs I've overheated the battery. It's a rare occurrence but it does happen. But we run our saws pretty hard a lot of our 201s have a problem melting the plastics near exhaust to the point of pieces breaking off.
I have an Echo 330T. I like using the top handle saw for limbing (and marking), especially if you have to reach up so you can redirect the cut limb or hold it. Plus it is much lighter than my regular saws. You illustrated the point well about reasonable expectations for the top handle saws cutting limbs instead of logs.
I agree, I love mine for cutting limbs and brush. They aren’t meant to cut 14” rounds but I wanted to make sure viewers know, one will do it and one won’t for very long. Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts.
Husqvarna battery in the climbing saws NEVER OVERHEAT! They have ventilated batteries + a fan to suck air thru the battery. You don't whale on the saw ("crank") but as an arborist maybe around 20times total a year the battery will shut down >10second stop & reboot after attempting to drain it on a large load cut. Work around is the Husqvarna battery saw actually runs better & uninterrupted on eco mode for large logs
good segment guys. cute saw but it just seems unnatural to cut wood and not hear the engine and smell the fuel mix.....lol. how long will it cut and how long does it take to recharge? would be great for trimming or clearing lanes in the woods for deer season. saw you on "in the woodyard" with Chris.
This same day, I used my saw quite a bit for limbs and small stuff, I would consider it a normal day, and my battery lasted all day. Thanks for watching!
Your test showed kinda what I was thinking. They both have their good points for sure. I’m kinda in the same boat wondering if I really have enough need for a top handle to justify buying one. Thanks for sharing fellas👊🏻
I thought same thing, purchased the husky and I put it on my atv for trail trimming, hunting stand maintenance and all kind of horse fence repair etc. it’s so small and handy.
I was using my 338xpt that's 18 years old at this point for stuff I really had no business using it for. I picked up the rear handle version of the 540xp and it rips. I don't bother using my 346xp anymore. The 540 rips from the factory, im considering the west coast saw muffler for it which allegedly gives it a bit more power.
Keep in mind that gas chainsaws require break-in and get better afterwards. Battery saws are as good as it gets right out of the box, and slowly deteriorate with each charge cycle. It would be a better comparison to see some timed cuts after each saw has been used for a month.
I have 10 year old m18 batteries have used them every single day 7days a week batteries last alot longer than you think. And I bet my old batteries is just as good as my new ones I just got.

I got the top handle yesterday the Milwaukee I like it but overheated my battery. I think for small limbs or one to have with you to clear a trail from a downfall. I also have the Milwaukee pole saw and love it. Both has there place.
Run the 12ah battery that will help alot and have 2 or 3 batteries so you can swap out. Some like the 8ah and I noticed they usually over heat never seen a 12ah over heat but get 2 or 3 of the 8ah if that's what you're running or 2 12ahs
The 540 is nothing like it will be once it breaks in. It’ll probably be killer with mods. A nicely broken in high quality bar and a chain filed perfectly will make it unbeatable. It’s hard to improve electric saws.

Only High output batteries and B.) would be only use packs that are covered under warranty HO packs are 3yr warranty so seriously just look at the bottom of the battery and in the top right there are 3 sets of numbers spaced apart & the first 2 digits of the middle set are year of manufacture…I personally have destroyed 2 of the HO 8.0s with the m18 chainsaws but also the 6&8ah are what ive used most in it. I strictly would stick to the HO batteries with one exception that being the HD12.0 which HO packs are imo mandatory with this saw so like the HO xc6.0, the new forge xc6.0 (less voltage sag when under load) the HO 8.0 & the only one that isn’t high output but high demand is the 12.0 but if you take anything from this heed the advice of only using HO batteries and make certain there under warranty cuz u will need it if u use this saw with any regularity.

Hey guys just stumbled across your video, curious what chains/bars are you running on your T handles? are they 3/8 low pro? I've been running a t435 husqvarna and having some issues so been looking to upgrade, Had a look at a 201 but not really ergonomic for me, so might consider a 540. Have you run it much more and how has your experience been with it and do you like it?
We have a 201 vs 540 video coming out next Saturday you may want to watch before purchasing. My 201 runs 3/8s low pro. Can’t remember what the 540 runs but it’s not the same as my 201.

Only good thing about Milwaukee is they were smart and copping echo 2511t, side handle design wich is hands down best saw made top handles.. but the Milwaukee sure is ugly..take mk3 anyday
Hello Guys, based on my thirty years + as a tree climber, dogs on top handles are something you remove as an arborist because they damage the bark for pruning cuts so totally irrelevant. The T540XP2 is A1 - used for 10 years so can't see the point in this upgrade but the T540i battery is a lot lighter and way more user friendly. For firewood cutting don't bother with top handled chainsaws.
@@765Guys I've always heavily used top handled saws on the ground for ease of use but it's important to remember they are supposed to be primarily for climbing work where you need to be able to use the saw one handed when reaching out aloft (not that any of the manufacturers ever say you should use them one handed).
At this point , you almost need to disassemble the case to tell difference. To be fair , you should have tried a different battery. Milwaukee actually warrantied a1/2 impact for me before they figured out the battery was counterfeit

Top handles are nice for brushing out so you have one hand on branches to flip out of the way. That was the reason I bought mine years ago.
