    The Magda Linette thing (2nd clip) was just a big misunderstanding, and no one in that situation could figure that out. Linette wanted to challenge here return, while the umpire thought she was referring to the serve. Hence Linettes frustration, as she challenged straight after her own ball bounced.

    • @WonderWhatHappened
      @WonderWhatHappened Рік тому +48

      It's so frustrating watching that when you know what was going on. It's still the umpire's fault for not realizing. Linette did nothing wrong she called challenge after the point and somehow the umpire assumed it was the shot before that? Makes no sense really.

      My question is: Are umpires allowed to ask players which ball they are challenging if there is confusion? If so, the umpire could just ask Linette about it and there would be no problem, even the supervisor didn't even bother to ask, I just found that really weird.

      The chair umpire is the final authority on judgment calls. The supervisor cannot overrule the chair umpire on a judgment call. They can really only be helpful to get an interpretation of the rules or correct an umpire if they have gotten the rules wrong. Supervisors end up just appearing useless because players act like spoiled brats and continually refuse to continue playing until the umpire calls the supervisor over calls that they can't and won't overturn.
      You can hear this in one of the first clips when the chair umpire initially refuses to call the supervisor for the player because he tells her that it was a judgment call that he made but ends up having to relent because the player refuses to play until the supervisor comes.

    Why Kontaveit said it was her point? Yes it's the umpire's fault, but the point should be replied bcs Bonaventure returned the serve and it was in.

    Linette's umpire is a bum lol telling her she has to challenge before the ball even bounces. commentators as well for saying he had it right. and the surpervisors are jokes at this point. always go out and agree with the chair despite them being so clearly wrong

      You can understand from her exchange with the supervisor that she wanted to challenge the return and not the serve. She could have explained it to the umpire though instead of mindlessly shouting

      @TRASHoftheTITANS Рік тому +1

      @@treetopcombat2805 I think "mindlessly shouting" is a bit harsh. She and the umpire communicated poorly, but obviously English isn't either one's first language. Maybe she couldn't find the words she needed and this was adding to her frustration? I can definitely sympathise if that was the case

    • @Kordass126
      @Kordass126 Рік тому +1

      @@TRASHoftheTITANS I think she simply didn't realize umpire was thinking she's challenging the serve. Anyway, it was out anyway, so it wouldn't have changed anything.
