Many New Zealanders claim they’ve moved to Australia for better weather and higher wages, but a significant number have relocated because they felt like outsiders in their own country. When you’re born and raised in a place, proud to support its national teams and share its values, only to be told over the past several years that you’re a second-class citizen, welcome only by the grace of Maoridom, it’s not surprising that people eventually decide to leave. The Act is to clarify - not change. They are Euronesians - not "Maori" - there have been no full blooded Maori for over a century. In fact most "Maori" have majority European ancestry
Unlike Eurocentric cultures Polynesians accept all other cultures within their culture unlike a caste /blood quantum system if you have a percentage of maori parentage then you are that and maori - bias and racism sexism isn’t really tolerated sorry so define yourself as whatever you like but if we have maori blood then be proud as I am proud to be maori as with my other parentages are
@laurencengaia Again, they are Euronesians with mostly European ancestry. For example, Willie "20 'cent" Jackson is from about half European, a third Chinese and only one fifth Maori ancestry so don't give me the "special people" bollocks.
equal rights is fair for all sides if that bill is creating equal rights then why aren't people backing it up like chris luxon so they must not want equal rights then ?
Equal rights is more a catchy slogan to diffuse the questions. Because in reality it's about enslaving Māori to a corporate entity. So we have equal rights as foreigners in our own country.
So many commentators get this wrong...these maori represent a small portion of their people and not the 17% mentioned. Most Maori are not interested in division.
Yes and for many of us who have multiple-ethnic families with members on both sides are feeling the impact the most. We hate the division.. Wish we could forget race politics entirely.
Labor and the Maori part are the ones that reinterpreted the treat during Arderns 6 years in government. They changed the names of many government departments and are trying to change the name of the country. They never asked they just did it and created special rights for maori. We now have elected officials who are not able to do their job because they have to get approval from iwi appointies. You get cases where 2 out of 4 seats are set aside for the local iwi on the local environment board. Then, the iwi also gets to vote on who the other 2 seats go to as a part of the general population, and you need 3 out of the 4 seats to agree on a ruling to get it passed. All this while the iwi only make up 10% of the areas population.
💯Correct, you even need Iwi permission to renew your septic tank and drainage lines in NZ on private land (not Māori ) when getting council consent it’s a separate payment to you guessed Iwi wtf 😳 Ardern and her left leaning mob have destroyed our country in more ways than one , but their legacy of the gravy train is going to bankrupt NZ if Luxon doesn’t grow a pair and that’s not likely, David Seymour is on the right side of history for NZ time will show that 🛑
So true it sucks, this is why we have to voice our concerns to the managers, operators, say our opinion, that this is racism, unfair democracy, etc. Vote NO to maori wards, support David Treaty Bill
What other countries have two laws that treat the majority of people differently? Maori have way more human rights than all other non Maori that being majority. Maori are only 15 percentage of nz people. Yet have more rights than the other 75 percentage. Nobody taking anything away from Maori in nz you need to understand that. Its about treating everybody equal. Maori can go to there cousin and get a customary permit to collect hundreds of paua and kina for big feast for there family and friends. Its not same for non Maori we not allowed to get paua and kina for my family and friends. Why coz im not Maori. See they have more rights in nz than the rest. The bill is to balance out the imbalance we had for too long. Maori have it good in nz more opertunites than most . The people on protest are delusional most have racist views. They dont want to share. Its not in there dna. Take take take is what Maori do in nz. Iwi. Stands for " I want it " Nz has to treat all people equal. Thats racist pigs shit. So this laws

But not only that it has being used in some unnecessary places.

Of course the Australian government could invite the entire non-Maori population of New Zealand to move there and leave New Zealand to the Maoris. I would like to see they run the airlines (and the rest of the 21st century technology).
Maori could give up everything colonisation has gifted them and go back to being in the stone-age practising brutality, slavery, cannibalism and being constantly at war. Let's give them a representative share of New Zealand to have all to themselves. Suddenly the population that 'identifies' as Maori would drop dramatically. If they want separatism, let's do it.

What is most interesting/disappointing, is that everyone is talking about the treaty and changing the treaty from 1800. But what is actually being looked at in the 1975 Treaty of Waitangi act, an act of the NZ parliament, not even all that long ago, that was discussed and debated without alarm at the time. But the media and the opposition refuse so strongly to talk about that almost no one actually knows.
That is correct. David Seymour is not proposing one word of the 1840 Te Tiriti/ The Treaty of Waitangi (ie the Maori and English "versions") be changed. But that's got lost in translation by the hopelessly biased media over here.
Obviously Maoris should not have specialvoting rights, this issue is more complicated than Bolt has outlined. *The Maori are basically opposed to global liberalism. They want to keep the settlement they have between themselves and the British settlers. They see no benefit for them by allowing mass immigration into New Zealand which destroys their job prospects and their general status within NZ.*
Just reposting my comment from another video: If you pay taxes, you should have a say in the country you are a citizen of. Not have all of it given to an ideological cult who wear maori culture as a disguise.
Its not exactly about race, as a lot of people think it is. Maori get special rights because thats how much behind we are in society. Look at the stats in education. Look at healthcare. Look at crime. Look at poverty. Maori and Pacifica are on the negative side of those statistics. Those Maori only benefits that people complain about are solutions because, at the same time, they reconnect Maori with their culture increasing chances for producing a stronger individual, and a stronger culture.
They are traditional owners of Aoteaora. Equity over equality. I get that Modern NZ was built by many others as well, but why can't many others just live with the fact that traditional owners are traditional owners. Period! I don't care which country I go to, and contribute, and become a citizen of. Traditionally, people were here before me and I respect that. They have a long spiritual connection to aotearoa way before others. A treaty was reached between the war like Haka warriors and the Under-One-God-and-Monarch, gun carrying empire. A treaty for God's sake. Keep it that way.
The treaty said maori has a right to self determination. the crown has shat on their rights for years. This bill is sneaky, it's not about equal rights, it's about removing maori rights to not have their land aquisioned by the crown.
The main issue is that the bill is viewed by many as a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist. So, naturally the relationship between Māori and the Crown is being challenged. I believe there has been a lost opportunity here because I think it’s a conversation to be had in contemporary New Zealand. We must understand that the treaty was an agreement between the Crown and Māori and a fundamental premise of that agreement was for partnership - where the relationship between Māori and the Crown is to be enacted in good-faith. The proposed bill, you can argue is not in good-faith from the Crowns position. This is the main cause for the division - the disrespectful behaviour of the Crown in relation to its partnership agreement with Māori. Further, we can debate that the ACT party, and in essence the Crown, have gone about this the wrong way. The “national conversation” ACT want to have is fundamentally flawed in its approach from what I’ve read. The bill, if enacted, could be used unilaterally in favour of the Crown, which can technically be perceived as a breach of the Crowns treaty agreement with Māori. I personally believe having a conversation would be healthy for NZ, however, the bill may have been more welcomed/successful if it had bi-partisan agreement and included Māori in its inception, rather than a minor party proposing the bill in accordance to what they think it should be.
No. Haka is nuanced and is used to honour as well as a challenge. It is also performed at weddings and funerals and sport. Remembering that sport is the perfect place to offer up a challenge and most of these haka written nowadays are performed with great respect to whomever they challenge or celebrate the life of. Maori culture, done right, and being taught to disenfranchised kids, can really give them a sense of identity, and the culture has been groomed in such a way that it pulls these kids up by their bootstraps and gives them purpose. Done wrong you get what your watching above.
It's all piss-and-vinegar, none of them ever get called out on the challenge, so they never have to back up their threats and throat-cutting gestures. Standard Maori response to standing up to the challenge and not backing down is generally peacefully respecting the person challenged. In the past if you met the challenge, selected warriors would battle hand to hand, and the outcome of a whole battle could depend on a one on one battle to the death in front of the opposing sides. It was all about mana,or how good you looked in front of everyone else
This is the actual wording of the key part of the proposed Principles of the Treaty of Waitangi Bill, in case it hasn't already been copied below and for those who are interested, or who haven't read it yet. Part 2 Principles of Treaty of Waitangi Section 6 The principles of the Treaty of Waitangi are as follows: Principle 1 The Executive Government of New Zealand has full power to govern, and the Parliament of New Zealand has full power to make laws,- (a) in the best interests of everyone; and (b) in accordance with the rule of law and the maintenance of a free and democratic society. Principle 2 (1) The Crown recognises, and will respect and protect, the rights that hapū and iwi Māori had under the Treaty of Waitangi/te Tiriti o Waitangi at the time they signed it. (2) However, if those rights differ from the rights of everyone, subclause (1) applies only if those rights are agreed in the settlement of a historical treaty claim under the Treaty of Waitangi Act 1975. Principle 3 (1) Everyone is equal before the law. (2) Everyone is entitled, without discrimination, to- (a) the equal protection and equal benefit of the law; and (b) the equal enjoyment of the same fundamental human rights. Appears there are some situations it won't apply to? Section 8 Act not to apply to interpretation of Treaty settlement Act or settlement of historical Treaty claim under Treaty of Waitangi Act 1975. This Act does not apply to the interpretation of a Treaty settlement Act, or the Treaty of Waitangi Act 1975 in relation to the settlement of a historical Treaty claim entered into after the commencement of this Act. The 1840 Te Tiriti/ Treaty of Waitangi remains untouched: Sec 9 Treaty of Waitangi/te Tiriti o Waitangi not amended. Nothing in this Act amends the text of the Treaty of Waitangi/te Tiriti o Waitangi.

You mean everyone is Africanians. All Europeans are from Africa.

equal rights is fair for all sides if that bill is creating equal rights then why aren't people backing it up like chris luxon so they must not want equal rights then ?
Because the bill is not about equal rights.
Equal rights is more a catchy slogan to diffuse the questions. Because in reality it's about enslaving Māori to a corporate entity. So we have equal rights as foreigners in our own country.

Boo hoo bout time Maori took back the country stolen from them
By white trash!
💯Correct, you even need Iwi permission to renew your septic tank and drainage lines in NZ on private land (not Māori ) when getting council consent it’s a separate payment to you guessed Iwi wtf 😳 Ardern and her left leaning mob have destroyed our country in more ways than one , but their legacy of the gravy train is going to bankrupt NZ if Luxon doesn’t grow a pair and that’s not likely, David Seymour is on the right side of history for NZ time will show that 🛑
Jim Bolger began this current crap in 1975 by using the Raglan golf course to bribe tainui into voting for him.

There doesn't seem to be a valid reasonable argument against the bill, it's ridiculous.
No treaty in Australia forever.

I left NZ for the US some years back. Got tired of being told I was a second tier citizen because I didn't have the magical Maori blood. Here in the US it's much more of a meritocracy.

But not only that it has being used in some unnecessary places.
It's disrespect to their own ancestors when they are going to get creamed. Have you seen the hakas against the USA basketball team? When the opponents are darker skinned than the kiwis, the optics fall flat.

New Zealand is *my* home too.
I'm so glad I voted for NZ First and not National
Maori Activists want to take New Zealand back to Tribalist Rule. All citizens must submit themselves to Maori authority or get sent to Australia.
Of course the Australian government could invite the entire non-Maori population of New Zealand to move there and leave New Zealand to the Maoris. I would like to see they run the airlines (and the rest of the 21st century technology).
Take your stupid technology and leave the Maori to a peaceful natural nature based existence.
Are you implying all Maori are to stupid to run airlines and 21 century technology?

Indigenous peoples around the world would support Indigenous Europeans taking back the 530M European Diaspora that have occupied other parts of the world… we’d be happy if you could take them all back to Europe n Britain please🎉😊
🤣🤣 🤣 its not our fault the british couldnt colonise us. So they had to sign a treaty to live on our island.
For sure! So in which part of NZ did Queen Victoria live?
No wonder so many kiwis are moving to Australia.
Just reposting my comment from another video: If you pay taxes, you should have a say in the country you are a citizen of. Not have all of it given to an ideological cult who wear maori culture as a disguise.
Can anyone tell me why Luxon is so opposed to this bill?

Parasites, yep.
Hmmmm,ivermectin?
Its not exactly about race, as a lot of people think it is. Maori get special rights because thats how much behind we are in society. Look at the stats in education. Look at healthcare. Look at crime. Look at poverty. Maori and Pacifica are on the negative side of those statistics. Those Maori only benefits that people complain about are solutions because, at the same time, they reconnect Maori with their culture increasing chances for producing a stronger individual, and a stronger culture.
I didn't realise SKY news Australia was like FOX news America 🤣
*Much* better than Fox News!
@KeithAllen-pg8ep just as biased and misinformed!
We ordinary Kiwis have no right to say anything about the mixed race folks here in NZ.
All animals are equal. But some are more equal than others...
The treaty said maori has a right to self determination. the crown has shat on their rights for years. This bill is sneaky, it's not about equal rights, it's about removing maori rights to not have their land aquisioned by the crown.
If you don't know what it about don't talk about it and don't guess and make up ya own storyline
Remember that .
In the English version of the Treaty, there is no mention of "Partnership," and the Māori chiefs at Waitangi ceded Sovereignty to Queen Victoria.
Has the bill change been shown in full? American constitution was under attack recently, wold love to see the wording in new bill.
Do Maori people doing the dance actually want war?
I do
@@Hellena_HandbasketThankyou.
Lol you ask the maori party in parliament a question. Answer the “haka” 🤦🏽. Instead of debating you get this bs.
This is the actual wording of the key part of the proposed Principles of the Treaty of Waitangi Bill, in case it hasn't already been copied below and for those who are interested, or who haven't read it yet.
Part 2
Principles of Treaty of Waitangi
Section 6 The principles of the Treaty of Waitangi are as follows:
Principle 1
The Executive Government of New Zealand has full power to govern, and the Parliament of New Zealand has full power to make laws,-
(a) in the best interests of everyone; and
(b) in accordance with the rule of law and the maintenance of a free and democratic society.
Principle 2
(1) The Crown recognises, and will respect and protect, the rights that hapū and iwi Māori had under the Treaty of Waitangi/te Tiriti o Waitangi at the time they signed it.
(2) However, if those rights differ from the rights of everyone, subclause (1) applies only if those rights are agreed in the settlement of a historical treaty claim under the Treaty of Waitangi Act 1975.
Principle 3
(1) Everyone is equal before the law.
(2) Everyone is entitled, without discrimination, to-
(a) the equal protection and equal benefit of the law; and
(b) the equal enjoyment of the same fundamental human rights.
The 1840 Te Tiriti/ Treaty of Waitangi remains untouched:
Sec 9 Treaty of Waitangi/te Tiriti o Waitangi not amended.
Nothing in this Act amends the text of the Treaty of Waitangi/te Tiriti o Waitangi.
So, in 1975 Labour opened a can of worms by "fixing" something that wasn't broken and introducing wokeness. Colour me surprised!
