You're great player , mate with good sense of rhythm & phrasing ! ... I have Bassman Export & love it ! However my cab is Laney with 2 x 12 speakers in it ...
I have a 68 bassman. Do you get feedback/hissing from your cab? I’m trying to figure out if it’s just because it’s a big tube amp or something is wrong with it.
I have a 69 bassman - had it tuned up with new capacitors, tubes, 3 prong power chord, and all that. Am Running through a cab with re-coned 69 oxford 12 in. speakers Outcome: There is still a very light hiss, think white noise, faintly there when at idle. When I play you cant tell its there, obviously, and when I record it with a mic the hiss is virtually unheard. Just record hot, without clipping, and lower your gain after the fact in your DAW, and the hiss will be non-existent. I believe the hiss may just be a product of a 50 year old amp.
@@hoodedman07 Are you in LA? I have a good amp/guitar tech who works from his home shop and on the road for bands. If your in SOCAL I can refer ya - if not, sorry, Google or craigslist will have to do. It was a little pricey. I got my Bassman for 550 on Reverb. It was never worked on since it came out the factory. I payed 350 for all the work - and yeah, it made a world of a difference. A restored/tuned up 60's Bassman goes for 750 - 1100.
hugoknots I live in New Jersey. I got mine for $900 from guitar center. I don’t know if they worked on it or fixed anything before they sold it. I don’t have any examples of other late 60s baseman’s to see if the sound I’m getting is normal.
@@hoodedman07 If you got a hard hiss, occasional crackles/pops, switching the Bass/Bright switch up or down also causes pops, and your ears aren't being blow out in a bedroom at volume 5 - you need your amp worked on for sure. Check all your tubes, make sure theyre on right, or if dead at worse. Look up your local amp shop/techs and prepare to spend a couple hundred.
Just picked one of these up with what looks like the same 2x15 cab. Getting the head back from the tech tomorrow!

hugoknots thanks for the feedback! Was it expensive to get new capacitors? Where can I even get something like that done?

2x15 original bassman
Nice tone , never sell that amp!
Hey curly joe sounds good but slow down, way down because it just turns your playing into irritating slop.
