you can install prototype body parts, then remove the canard and splitter if u think it is too ricy, also u can modify wheel fitment and tune ur suspension in the garage.
You can turn down the camera shake in the settings if you don't like it.
If you still want to hear ur engine when going at top speed u can just increase the volume of the engine in the settings.
You can install gauges in the interior section and it will appear in the UI, it is important to do so because the stock speedometer top's out at 220km/h.
Also there is a final boss for the G-company crew, and if you beat him, the next night the station will be occupied by another crew.
Finally, you don't need to use the clutch for manual transmission.
New gauges appearing in the UI is quite the attention to detail.

What are the transmission upgrades like if you have an auto?

This demo alone put those Triple A racing game released in 2023 to a shame

As a Wangan Midnight enthusiast, I'd say this game shows a lot of promise. To be honest I've been waiting for another TXR/WM inspired game and it looks fun to play even though it's in its demo stage. The only criticism I do have would be the lighting in some cases, it's way too dark to really see oncoming traffic sometimes. From what I've seen here it genuinely looks fun, maybe might pick it up once it fully releases. This is a really good first attempt for something like this and I hope it does succeed. Great video as always Dove, props to you and BobTheMartin for pushing this one out.

for real i feel like theres such a huge deadspot in the market for a game like this I grew up on nfsu and didnt even know about wmmt5 until like 2019 and ive loved it ever since, I'd love to see this game become something great
@@RIPxri I would happily welcome a game like this in today's market. Aside from Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune I'm not really sure if other games have incorporated this style of Japanese highway racing in newer titles. I'd buy something like this to be honest, I genuinely like wangan styled games.
Night Runners and Touge Attack are my two most anticipated indie racing games. Both of these games look like they'll fill the hole left behind by the Tokyo Xtreme Racer games (Night Runners for the highway racing and Touge Attack for the canyon battles of the Tokyo Xtreme Racer Drift games). Now all I need is an indie Midnight Club and an indie Burnout game and I'll be all set.

That 7 Eleven is Up Garage, a Japanese chain of auto parts stores. They really are like a 7 Eleven for cars, although you can't go into the store driving one. The hand brake excuse is only to use after you win, like the dude from the French movie Taxi, after beating the German dudes in their Mercedes 500Es

I spent way too much time playing TXR and Wangan Midnight, this brought back memories and I'll definitely be getting it.
Really happy that this game is getting more and more hype it really deserve it

The rear view mirror is such a smart implementation. Still retains the fundamental functionality it provides, while also not bogging the performance down by rendering the game

4:15 Imagine driving a built S15 and some dude wrecks you with his grandma- spec 180SX equipped with the 4 speed slushbox :) Hopefully the game gets options to have Auto shifting normally but having to use Shift Up/ Down when dragracing like NfS. Clutch should be optional because keyboard users...

I like how Night Runners is an indie racing game so it presumably won't be stricken by always-online DRM, unlike most new AAA racing titles. No always-online DRM makes it much more likely that I will buy it.

Already looking better than any racing game that came last year.
This is a lot like Tokyo Extreme Racer Zero, a game I would play countless hours after class in highschool around 2001. Right down to the insane amount of ricey mods. I love it!
Looks good in its demo stage, needs some tweaking in the risk/ reward system, crash physics, clear instruction on routes and some other rage- preventing measures :)
Also I hope that it comes with some Touge stuff too. I like the WM and TXR Drift series, but there is no game that combines Highway racing AND Touge driving/ drifting, would shake the gameplay up a bit and justifies the need for more than one car to specialise on different racing.
Yeah, the game will also have touge (as teased in the game's UA-cam channel).
You might want to check Touge Attack if you are looking for a touge-focused game. Just like this one, Touge Attack is heavily inspired by the Tokyo Xtreme Racer Series

Tokyo Xtreme Racer Drift 1 and 2 are my favorite ps2 games I completely missed as a kid. Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3 was amazing as well. Genki racing project did something special with all of their games. The 360 one could’ve used more polish though lol. Glad we got a final hurrah from them though at the same time.

I really like the concept of this game, it seems to have a pretty cool atmosphere from what i've seen too.
From what i've seen of it so far, I'd definitely give it a shot when i can.
Forgot to mention, The amount of small details is pretty amazing too.
Having the handbrake on will burn out your handbrake shoes, or rear pads the car will drive MUCH slower in the meantime, ill try the game. downloading it now.

I have this game on my wishlist, but I don't already have it simply because it's in early access and don't want to run the risk of buying yet another game that never gets finished.
Also, the use of gambling and adult content is really giving me Juiced vibes, when I expected this to be something in the lines of Tokyo Drift Racer.

Anyway, as someone who play, and still are, Wangan Midnight (occasionally, because it's an arcade game, my money is limited), Night Runner is a breath of fresh air. Sure it has some inaccessibility like the camera shake, some peoples would hate it, there's no car brand, which people would probably not like it, although it also means they can put the craziest customization possible, and put details even into engine bay when swapping...
But overall, this game is a breath of fresh air, or rather, a revival of a dead genre. It offers something we rarely seen today, it gives the challenge, that games these days missing, and ofc, have it's own identity. Something that game these days missing
Here's hoping this game could be a wake up call for AAA developer, for upping their games, or maybe even reviving some dead genre (yeah, I really miss canyon duel in Carbon ane just battle race of Burnout)

Not only the culture, but also because Tokyo has a vast and versatile highway layout. You have the legendary inner loop between the high rises, which is so twisty it could be used as a racetrack (*cough GT7 *cough*), and you have the picturesque bayside with the massive bridges and long tunnels. The only other place I can think of with the same amount of car culture and diverse environments in a neat package would be LA, but that location is also quite over saturated within racing games.
Also a bit of personal bias because I'm a massive weeb, but every time I pick up a highway racing game, and it throws me onto some random interstate highway in Buttfuck Nowhere, South Dakota, I just get really bored with the scenery. Everything is just... bigger. Wider. Vast. Empty. Long distances.
On that note, a racing game taking you from Germany to Italy would be kinda nuts. You get some crazy roads and highways and breathtaking scenery in the Alps. And the car selection just from those 2 countries alone would be insane.

At last, the demo receives some attention 💪. It shows a lot of promise, looks quite good, and truly sells the touge feeling of the 2000s, but not sure how much I like the idea of "pay to restart", though. At first glance, at least, it sounds kinda punishing, but I assume rewards will make up for it, so the player won't go bankrupt after 2-3 restarts.
My only issue is something I brought up to the dev as well sometime ago - the lighting still seems to be too dark in some parts. The dev said that the gamma can be tweaked, but this looks more like something that needs some actual changes to the lighting as opposed to just increasing/decreasing a slider, so I hope that by the time the full game is out, this will be remedied.
That, and I do believe engine sounds can also be a bit meatier. For all its many current flaws, by comparison NFS still has some of the best engine sounds out there. They don't feel satisfying enough.
I still prefer Racing Lagoon as my favorite JDM racing game, its 2 decades old but still awesome

I also wish someone would make a Ridge Racer spiritual sequel and give Scamco even more regrets. The worst thing is Harada asks SEGA where the VF6 is, but they ignore it, saying they can't make Ridge Racer. It's absurd.

Tbh you should have to start out with 90hp cars against ppl with 100hp and beat them in the turns... so far it seems the car selection is a bit too lenient... these types of games need to be a grind. When it gets handed to you from the beginning it loses its prestige. The difficulty level of txr3 and txr0 remains unmatched.

my complaint is that it doesn't run on my PC, and the game generally makes cars TOOO understeery to have some fun with, pair bad handling with the low visibility and you have a self harm generator

It's a great game, I love the concept and idea of it... But it's poorly optimized for a game that looks at best like Nfsu2 or NFS Carbon with its 16gb ram requirement 😅
For reference i have 8gb ram and can run NFS payback on 25 to 30 fps... Nightrunner runs at 15 fps at best, it's so slow that I couldn't even start the first mission 😅

Don't bank on this game ever releasing. From start to the demo took nine years or so and the dev has a requirement of 1million USD crowdfunded to continue developing the game. Which has been to proven to be a massive overreach. Through the grapevine I understand that he is also extremely difficult to work with, which seems to be a recurring trend with solo-devs.
My advise would be to just forget about this ever having existed. Looking at it secly, this is a dev with a dead game trying to wring blood out of the stone that has been handed to him by youtubers desperate for new stuff to gush over.
Don't fall in the MMO-andies trap of funding dead projects that are spearheaded by money-hungry devs.

this feels like one of those indie demos that promise the stars but only end up at the moon. i don't want to be negative but we gotta lower our expectations and give it some more time. even if it doesn't come out as great we still got a kick ass Night Drive game to zone out with :3
