EDIT: I will reduce the introduction music volume by around 2db for the next video. I find it odd that nobody has mentioned anything until this video, considering I've released nearly 100 videos this year with the same intro lol. Analysing things, it seems that the MP3 of intro music is no louder than any other music I've used in my repair videos during montage segments, but I believe is PERCEIVED to be louder due to wide spectrum of sound frequencies the music covers, particularly the lead synth in the upper register. Additionally, it contrasts against what is otherwise usually fairly relaxing audio of me talking through a topic. The intro has never bothered me personally, but this may be because I wrote it, and am used to hearing it over and over and over again. I can see that it may put new viewers off and I will be changing it. Regardless, the extra comments caused by the critique seemed to have boosted my watch count by 2000 views or so. So... thanks? What do you guys think is Polaroid's biggest "Malibu Stacy With New Hat" moment? Are there any other special cameras you'd like me to cover? Also in my next video I promise not to say "interesting" as much as I did in this episodey of you think it's too loud, so it will be reduced for the next video.
I think polaroid were truly masters of finding questions for an answer they already had. They took the question that camera companies had been asking for decades "what might people want a picture of" and found every instance they could where instant photography did it better. A lot of these ideas may seem "malibu stacy new hat", but some of this is stuff that the intended customer might not even think of until they see the camera marketed to them, like this idea. I really think the polaroid system excells as a tool of buisness and industry, a market we don't think about now days since they entirely replaced instant film with digital because they don't shoot for artistry. A personal anecdote is that my grandpa used a polaoid camera, because he worked for a bank and needed to take pictures at various properties the bank owned.
@@ajorsomething4935 this is 100% true Somewhere... @theinstantcameraguy honestly I think their weirdest decision when it comes to that is introducing features that'd be good on every camera and relatively cheap to offer, but only putting them on a few. The mixing and matching of improved straps, tripod sockets, close up lenses, instruction stickers, etc always seems like more production line complication than it's worth. Then again, that would indeed reduce all versions to 100% reskins of the same thing.

The book "Land's Polaroid" by Wensberg is written from a marketing perspective and provides insight into the tension between the innovation and marketing of these cameras. The creation of a plethora of cameras such as the swinger and the various versions of pack cameras allowed Land to work toward his goal of true one step photography. Polavision was an exception in that it was driven by Land's desire to achieve instant film through the colour additive process, not by the market. Polaroid's history goes deep and I'm sure there are many untold stories of ideas that never left the drawing room...
