    I’ve always thought Mozart had the most natural and distinctive sounding recits :D as a girl obsessed with le nozze I love ur videos!!!

    I loved this :) Analyzing the music is a very interesting part for me, and ending it with a conductor's point of view made it even more interesting! I hope to see more (and longer) videos of the same kind soon

      Thank you for the comment! I’m definitely considering doing more bar by bar/ in depth analysis like this one with other pieces

    I'm two years or so later. I played in a High school band so I understand conducting's necessaties, upbeats, ques,. Later I played bass so dissonance light phases, charater tention in music all made sense. Thanks ! Complex play- so many subplots! All explained well. I plan on buying a recording before watching.

    Yessss thank you Anna for making all these wonderful videos. never had the chance to learn the detail of the perhaps much overlooked recitatives. They are essential especially in a great master’s hands like Mozart IMO especially in Cosi, everything is water-tightly connected by a single thread like a giant legato. This one is absolutely a crown jewel of reci+aria. One of my favourites too ❤

    Great video!! It was so interesting to learn how Mozart her this effect in his recitativos. Also, nice recitativo in the beginning😁 (and cool that you used the Office Scene😂)

      What did he actually think prima nocta meant? new term to me, more familiar with droit de seigneur

    The dramaturgical purpose of recitativo is to advance the plot. This is clearly the case in "Hai gia vinta la causa.? during which Almaviva is calcuating and hatching his plan. Acompagnati recits frequently precede an aria by the same character, and this is true for "Hai gia vinta la causa" as well.

    So the music acts as the stage direction?

    Anna, I have a question for you. I am a SERIOUS fan of classical music. My heart belongs to Beethoven, however, I am astonished by the technical capability and intuitive improvization of Mozart. He appears to be able to 'invent' new concepts on the spot by leaving the score blank so he can simply try something new while performing. Am I incorrect about this?

    The best version is still Gardiner's.

    Wow, look at that score. You conductors must be happy about digital scores even if paper is so much nicer to use.

    • @howimettheopera
      @howimettheopera  3 роки тому +2

      YES. For conducting I still use paper but if im observing rehearsals or something like that, an iPad is definitely better for our backs than 3 paper symphonies.
