Yeah I love Mobius as a counter to Spider-Ham. I'm still waiting for the dream of playing some weird deck with Mobius and Infinaut, then getting the Infinaut hit by Spider-Ham and getting to play a 0/20 with no restrictions. 😀
MAIL BAG QUESTION, MY FIRST EDITION: With the next two month of season pass card ability related to energy cheat cards (Black Swan and Hope Summer), what do you think about a "Discard Cheat" Card? For example: - A Discard card that can spesifically target the card that you want to discard (you choose the card), or - A discard "tool" card that when it put on the board, it will activate other Discard card ability that now can, _again_ , target the card you want to discard. To put it on perspective: 1. On turn 2, you played this Discard Tool Card (Ability: The next Discard Card you played here can now choose it's target) 2. On turn 3, you played Lady Sif in the same lane as the Discard Tool Card, and since you have 2 6-cost card in your hand (ex: Magneto dan Infinaut), you can spesifically choose the card you want instead of just the game choose it randomly.
Couldn't agree more on SD needing to just take the risk on Move. I love the archetype but I always feel like I'm doing 3D chess, managing space, turn order, playing around tech cards.... and the opponent just vomits cards onto the board turns 4-6 and wins.

I remember when I first started playing Marvel Snap, I watched this streamer name Alex Coccia who had a Moongirl avatar and the title "The goggles do nothing!" so that special night in November when Alex was about to win his first Infinite avatar and needed a title to use, I shouted out THE GOGGLES DO NOTHING in chat and Alex ran with it. Thanks to you and Cozy for all the good times and info on this crazy game!
RE: Skaar % of the meta… correct me if I’m wrong, but I feel like the season pass card gets artificially inflated meta share numbers due to the weekend missions that the card is ALWAYS included in. They “force us” to play these cards disproportionately more than others on a weekly basis in order to earn rewards. I’ve been mostly underwhelmed by Skaar and I do not play him at all outside of completing missions.
Mailbag: You guys are probably the top 2 most influential creators in Snap. Do you ever regret or fear putting out a deck guide, either because it's a deck you don't want to play against constantly, or because your deck stops being a surprise?
You are correct on pants. You have to remember that unlike the Americas, pants as an object is underwear (usually y fronts) rather than trousers. Also birds, but don't forget you do use chick.
I was surprised the chick > bird connection didn't land 😅my local dialect uses 'duck' a lot as well so it's funny seeing what hasn't travelled well yet!
Interesting point that most people have to choose what weeks to skip on and even though cards like Miek really aren’t that bad, players have to prioritize the better cards.
Your deck guide inspired me to try Hela for the first time since Alioth released and she got me to infinite after dropping from 99 5 times this week! The new Black Knight/Lockjaw build is not a build I would have come up with on my own but it's a well-oiled machine, It's so efficient at ripping through your deck/hand and just plows over everything if it gets a good draw. And Black Cat DEFINITELY lived up to the stats, I'm in love with the fact that discarding her turn 1 is now genuinely threatening. Now I have to save my gold for the Peach Momoko variant to match my venomized Hela.
Driving home from a long day at work listening to my favorite podcast, and hearing Alex say that a frog sound is "Gurble gurble" made me literally laugh out loud in the car. Please never change and keep up the great work guys!
Move really needs help in general. I'm trying a phoenix deck. I don't have many 4/5 pool cards and it is tough to be consistent. Since I have to balance movers, enablers, and destroyers for phoenix to work without having energy reduction cards.
I'm fairly new to this game (few months proper) so this seasons mission pushed me to play Move. My deck was reasonable but standard Pool 3 level. It's a fun archetype and yeah when it's good it's great, but it's challenging. Certainly interested in playing more.
Mailbag: Hey guys, just wondering where do you get all your data on cards and decks (win rates, cube win rates, play rates, etc.). The only places I know that have these are Snap Fan and Snap Zone, but those two usually don't have the same numbers. I'd like to see these statistics more accurately and have a good notion on the game state. Just about it. Keep up the good work!
Mailbag: Besides content, even with the little details that we have for clans/guilds, some of us are already making Discord groups and having fun with people, so my question is: how do you plan to engage with this once we get it? Mailbag: imagine a thanos snap on your collection or like a prestige system, where you get to keep a card, but then have to give away all the rest of your collection. That way you can have that feeling of starting snap all over again. Your entire collection is then in the collection reserve.
Mailbag: When Hercules released and today during the review you mentioned that they need to make the card cheaper. Conversely SD has stated that move needs more cards at different cost points, which means 4/5/6 cost cards. Cannonball is theoretically coming out at 5. 2099 got changed to 5 and they are holding strong on Herc 4. Do you agree with their belief system on cost diversity even if it negatively effects the card? This philosophy also hit guardians and card generator cards as well.
Love the duo - always a good watch! And it's true - pants can mean terrible but it also refers to briefs, boxers or knickers too! Bird is indeed a reference to the fairer sex, more typcially used by the younger lot. By the way, as a Scot, please remember there's a whole lot more to the UK than just England... ;)
Pixels: Crystal is real good, but my fav is Wave. Lots of movement, good pose, weaons, waves, great with a Gold border. Honorable mentions: Venom, with his long tongue and Destroyer, which looks like a cute little toy with a pink background.
On your UK slang- Pants, as well as meaning mens underwear, can definitely mean "not good", though not used that much anymore. You are also correct that "Bird" means woman, its basically the same as "chick", usually with the same misogynistic feel to it
You guys are seriously sleeping on how good bounce-move is with Torch, Dagger, Vulture, Beast+Falcon, and Hercules. My opponents constantly underestimate how fast and high my cards boost up, especially with Herc giving them that extra “free” bounce. They snap on me and then eat smoke constantly. Don’t get me wrong, it takes TONS of practice to really master it, but the payoff is very high, as well as being really fun to play.
Mailbag: most powercrept cards! I think that white queen, agent 13 and crossbones are in desperate need of adjustments, because they are super fun cards and interesting cards, but they just fall short against, loki, snowguard, mirage, and cull obsidian.

Beta Ray Bill is by far the most fun card this month, I’ve played way too much of him Hercules, who was my other standout this month. I’m also so happy that Luke is back as now I get to play more of my boy Man-Thing without worry. I love your ongoing spectrum deck with him and I’m happy I get to play it again
Mailbag: Even still after all the nerfs Alioth has gotten, he still haunts me. What do you think of this idea I came up with? He still does the same thing, destroying cards on the opponent’s side, but it only affects even-costed cards. This way, it still completely destroys a 6-drop at that location, but a 5-drop would live. This nerf could even allow Alioth to regain some of that power that he’s lost since coming out.
Re: Limited format question from mailbag- There HAS to be one eventually if the game has a truly long lifespan. There will be just too many cards otherwise. By nature, you will never have more than 6 top decks, and thus, even if there is no overlap in cards played between them, that's only 60 total cards played in most optimistic scenario. With every card released, that's a smaller and smaller percentage of total cards played. When collections include 1,000 cards and only 50 are played- there will be a limited/restricted format or game will be dead
All they need to do for move is allow cards to gain their bonuses even when they're unable to move, buffs they entire archetype. There might be some weird interactions they need to iron out after but I think it's the best fix. Right now they are over stating move cards to try to fix the problem, you're just going to have a few cards/combos that will be over powered with this method, you're not helping the archetype as a whole.
Sorry I gotta disagree, I get infinite every season with move and this would be way to strong. I can usually compete with some Tribunal decks. I think move needs a card that you can rearrange cards in that location so that it can make better plays for turn 5 and 6
@@Firetroll Which move deck are you playing? There are some that are focused on a single card like phoenix force but I think that speaks to the problem. They can release some busted move card that will see play with like 2 other move enablers but I would hardly call that a move deck. Spiderman 2099 is crazy right now and still wont see play until they create some busted move card which will put a spotlight on how over tuned cards like 2099 and dagger are
MAILBAG QUESTION FOR NEXT WEEK: Big Marvel Snap fan but the weakest Element in game to me is flavor. The characters that make up a deck make no sense in Marvel terms. Shuri and Red Skull best friends?, and so on. How would you feel with a massive game errata to add a tribal element? All cards are labeled Villains or Heroes and some cards reward you for playing one type. I.e. Captain America buff where all heroes on your board get +1, Red Skull gets -1 for each hero on your board, etc. Or more specific tribes: Right now there is no reason the Fantastic Four would be in same deck. Maybe all FF are cost 1 less for each FF already on board. And similar rewards for playing Avengers together, Magneto against X-Men, and more. Maybe as a year 3 or 4 overhaul to game when it threatens to get stale? Thoughts? Thanks.
(LONGER THOUGHTS PROBABLY TOO MUCH TO BE READ IN EPISODE) Power level of the character is one thing (Colossus and Things 3 and 4 power and Black Cat is 9?), and probably by necessity for game design. Alex and Cozy have bemoaned the introductory cards being very popular characters and unplayable cards (Captain America, Elektra, Punisher, etc.); and further very obscure characters are longtime meta staples (Darkhawk, Zabu, etc.). The game is a total lore fail, to comic fans even more so than MCU ones. The game would have you believe Hobgoblin is the Herald of Galactus and the Silver Surfer got imbued with power by the Brood. In game terms Uber-Nazi Red Skull is best friends with Africa's pride, Shuri. And on and on.
Mailbag Q: Are you concerned about new cards lacking store variants? No card from the Skaar season had a variant released into the store (season pass and spotlight only) and Beta Ray Bill is the only card that has a datamined variant (no release date). Looks like the black order season is set to be the same.
Englishman here to confirm, pants means rubbish, its referencing underpants rather than trousers. Also "bird" is a rather dated 80s term, considered a bit sexist and outdated by todays standards. But of course some people still use it, down south primarily.
I might be the only Hercules enjoyer, although it’s very niche. I love him in my Move/Phoenix/Tribunal deck to trigger an extra time, especially if I don’t hit my curve exactly
I got Elsa Bloodstone, Galactus and Annihilus with my three tokens trying to pull Beta Ray Bill. Then I secured a new key the next day for Beta Ray and used him to hit Infinite rank for the first time just 1 day before the reset. Free to play player here.
This is my favorite meta as well. Only callout I have been seeing a lot of all the cost reduction cards but been running Mobius. Planning on running Mobius for next season pass card as well.
#Mailbag As much as you guys have talked about brewing and deck building, I wondered if you guys could talk a little bit about a more narrow portion of that process. I've had a lot of different ideas for combos or synergies, but building that into a full fledged deck has been pretty difficult. Do either of you have any perspective on how to identify if an idea has something to it, or is half baked? For example, a lot of bounce decks have included Iron Man, but it's always felt fairly awkward to me. So, I was considering pairing Black Swan with Havok on T5, leaving you open to play Iron Man with a bunch of 1s on T6 or even blending Bounce with Zoo and playing Dazzler+Shanna after BS+Havok.
The thing about the four keys is you can’t predict when the cards will come around again. If there’s a top card in there, with at least one more decent card that you need, then even if you only have one key, you should rip it.
The other thing about the 4 keys.... How arrogant do you have to be to suggest to an average player should always have 4 keys on hand? That's so absurd (esp considering the amount of times it takes 3-4 keys to get the thing you want - happened to me 4 times in the last 6 months). That's some obvious pay-to-win elitism showing through, because even if you're just doing the season pass (so not totally f2p) there is no way to be able to both have 4 keys, and actually use them often.
@@amcc8188 the four key system actually deincentivizes spending on cards you want because you have to take in consideration other 3 cards + 1 dupe. that is assuming you don't already have the other 3. as more and more cards you get, the spotlight system yields less and less. just this week, I had to risk dupe galactus and 1k token to get Elsa. i wasn't thrilled for BRB and random s4/s5 isn't something i want to gamble on. the spotlight system should be reserved for pool 3 cards and new players. just let us grind the CL and get cards from the track. i want gladiator but don't want none of the black order. for the full month of feb and march, all i want is gladiator and ms.marvel. everything else is a loss in my book.
Mailbag: Any ideas for a better season pass plus other then buffing season caches as this prompts agitha farming. I was thinking rerolls for the daily quests or something like that. The season pass is amazing but the plus brings nothing to the table.

Not that it *really* matters, but you specifically mentioned that you gave your initial rating for BRB before the buff but that isn't true. Caiera is absolutely a 5 star. Killmonger and Shang Chi are super meta cards. Not to mention she works great against 3-4 location and only gets better with time.
MAILBAG: Do you guys have any ideas on how you would make a physical marvel snap card game? For example how destroying,discarding,merging would work. Or even how certain cards would work. I think it would be hilarious pulling out an Alioth and just getting rid of your opponents cards without even looking at them
Mailbag: Playing High Evo, one of my cards got Spider Ham'd. The card keeps its HE text but as far as I can tell, it doesn't work anymore. But if I play that card on Washington DC, it doesn't get the buff- I'm pretty sure it also wouldn't get the patriot buff. Surely I should either keep the ability or get the buff?
I think there's a bigger risk that they run out of "abilities" than there is of running out of cards. You can "re-use" abilities but just for another class or whatever. How many "vanilla" cards do other games have, you really can't have more than 7 in Snap.
Mailbag: We always see Cozy’s favorite variant of each card that’s being highlighted at the moment, but what about the other really cool variants he has?
Move doesn't need more help. It is a HIGHLY skill based deck, and it doesn't need to be in the top 10 decks of the week in order to be "good". Those who play move will gladly show you how in battle mode 😊

I think move needs tech cards, like a card that changes the location when it moves or removes a cards' text or subtracts power and so on

Mailbag: most powercrept cards! I think that white queen, agent 13 and crossbones are in desperate need of adjustments, because they are super fun cards and interesting cards, but they just fall short against, loki, snowguard, mirage, and cull obsidian.

Beta Ray Bill is by far the most fun card this month, I’ve played way too much of him Hercules, who was my other standout this month. I’m also so happy that Luke is back as now I get to play more of my boy Man-Thing without worry. I love your ongoing spectrum deck with him and I’m happy I get to play it again

Even still after all the nerfs Alioth has gotten, he still haunts me. What do you think of this idea I came up with?
He still does the same thing, destroying cards on the opponent’s side, but it only affects even-costed cards. This way, it still completely destroys a 6-drop at that location, but a 5-drop would live. This nerf could even allow Alioth to regain some of that power that he’s lost since coming out.
I love playing bill with hit monkey and that 0 cost slam style deck with Elsa kitty and Angela
Re: Limited format question from mailbag-
There HAS to be one eventually if the game has a truly long lifespan. There will be just too many cards otherwise. By nature, you will never have more than 6 top decks, and thus, even if there is no overlap in cards played between them, that's only 60 total cards played in most optimistic scenario. With every card released, that's a smaller and smaller percentage of total cards played. When collections include 1,000 cards and only 50 are played- there will be a limited/restricted format or game will be dead
All they need to do for move is allow cards to gain their bonuses even when they're unable to move, buffs they entire archetype. There might be some weird interactions they need to iron out after but I think it's the best fix.
Right now they are over stating move cards to try to fix the problem, you're just going to have a few cards/combos that will be over powered with this method, you're not helping the archetype as a whole.
Sorry I gotta disagree, I get infinite every season with move and this would be way to strong. I can usually compete with some Tribunal decks. I think move needs a card that you can rearrange cards in that location so that it can make better plays for turn 5 and 6
@@Firetroll Which move deck are you playing? There are some that are focused on a single card like phoenix force but I think that speaks to the problem.
They can release some busted move card that will see play with like 2 other move enablers but I would hardly call that a move deck.
Spiderman 2099 is crazy right now and still wont see play until they create some busted move card which will put a spotlight on how over tuned cards like 2099 and dagger are

MAILBAG QUESTION FOR NEXT WEEK:
Big Marvel Snap fan but the weakest Element in game to me is flavor. The characters that make up a deck make no sense in Marvel terms. Shuri and Red Skull best friends?, and so on. How would you feel with a massive game errata to add a tribal element? All cards are labeled Villains or Heroes and some cards reward you for playing one type. I.e. Captain America buff where all heroes on your board get +1, Red Skull gets -1 for each hero on your board, etc. Or more specific tribes: Right now there is no reason the Fantastic Four would be in same deck. Maybe all FF are cost 1 less for each FF already on board. And similar rewards for playing Avengers together, Magneto against X-Men, and more.
Maybe as a year 3 or 4 overhaul to game when it threatens to get stale?

(LONGER THOUGHTS PROBABLY TOO MUCH TO BE READ IN EPISODE) Power level of the character is one thing (Colossus and Things 3 and 4 power and Black Cat is 9?), and probably by necessity for game design. Alex and Cozy have bemoaned the introductory cards being very popular characters and unplayable cards (Captain America, Elektra, Punisher, etc.); and further very obscure characters are longtime meta staples (Darkhawk, Zabu, etc.). The game is a total lore fail, to comic fans even more so than MCU ones. The game would have you believe Hobgoblin is the Herald of Galactus and the Silver Surfer got imbued with power by the Brood. In game terms Uber-Nazi Red Skull is best friends with Africa's pride, Shuri. And on and on.

Mailbag Q: Are you concerned about new cards lacking store variants? No card from the Skaar season had a variant released into the store (season pass and spotlight only) and Beta Ray Bill is the only card that has a datamined variant (no release date). Looks like the black order season is set to be the same.
Englishman here to confirm, pants means rubbish, its referencing underpants rather than trousers. Also "bird" is a rather dated 80s term, considered a bit sexist and outdated by todays standards. But of course some people still use it, down south primarily.
I might be the only Hercules enjoyer, although it’s very niche. I love him in my Move/Phoenix/Tribunal deck to trigger an extra time, especially if I don’t hit my curve exactly
I got Elsa Bloodstone, Galactus and Annihilus with my three tokens trying to pull Beta Ray Bill. Then I secured a new key the next day for Beta Ray and used him to hit Infinite rank for the first time just 1 day before the reset. Free to play player here.
This is my favorite meta as well. Only callout I have been seeing a lot of all the cost reduction cards but been running Mobius. Planning on running Mobius for next season pass card as well.

As much as you guys have talked about brewing and deck building, I wondered if you guys could talk a little bit about a more narrow portion of that process. I've had a lot of different ideas for combos or synergies, but building that into a full fledged deck has been pretty difficult. Do either of you have any perspective on how to identify if an idea has something to it, or is half baked? For example, a lot of bounce decks have included Iron Man, but it's always felt fairly awkward to me. So, I was considering pairing Black Swan with Havok on T5, leaving you open to play Iron Man with a bunch of 1s on T6 or even blending Bounce with Zoo and playing Dazzler+Shanna after BS+Havok.
I was super disappointed when Alex guessed Hela for Cozy's #1 drop for 6-cost. Its obviously Arnim Zola😂

The thing about the four keys is you can’t predict when the cards will come around again. If there’s a top card in there, with at least one more decent card that you need, then even if you only have one key, you should rip it.
The other thing about the 4 keys....
How arrogant do you have to be to suggest to an average player should always have 4 keys on hand? That's so absurd (esp considering the amount of times it takes 3-4 keys to get the thing you want - happened to me 4 times in the last 6 months). That's some obvious pay-to-win elitism showing through, because even if you're just doing the season pass (so not totally f2p) there is no way to be able to both have 4 keys, and actually use them often.
@@amcc8188 the four key system actually deincentivizes spending on cards you want because you have to take in consideration other 3 cards + 1 dupe. that is assuming you don't already have the other 3. as more and more cards you get, the spotlight system yields less and less. just this week, I had to risk dupe galactus and 1k token to get Elsa. i wasn't thrilled for BRB and random s4/s5 isn't something i want to gamble on. the spotlight system should be reserved for pool 3 cards and new players. just let us grind the CL and get cards from the track. i want gladiator but don't want none of the black order. for the full month of feb and march, all i want is gladiator and ms.marvel. everything else is a loss in my book.
Mailbag: Any ideas for a better season pass plus other then buffing season caches as this prompts agitha farming. I was thinking rerolls for the daily quests or something like that. The season pass is amazing but the plus brings nothing to the table.

Caiera is absolutely a 5 star. Killmonger and Shang Chi are super meta cards. Not to mention she works great against 3-4 location and only gets better with time.

Mailbag: Playing High Evo, one of my cards got Spider Ham'd. The card keeps its HE text but as far as I can tell, it doesn't work anymore. But if I play that card on Washington DC, it doesn't get the buff- I'm pretty sure it also wouldn't get the patriot buff. Surely I should either keep the ability or get the buff?
I think there's a bigger risk that they run out of "abilities" than there is of running out of cards. You can "re-use" abilities but just for another class or whatever. How many "vanilla" cards do other games have, you really can't have more than 7 in Snap.

Move doesn't need more help. It is a HIGHLY skill based deck, and it doesn't need to be in the top 10 decks of the week in order to be "good". Those who play move will gladly show you how in battle mode 😊
