FYI, the Euro (€) wasn't a currency in 1867. It only came into circulation in the 90s....the 1990s!
Thank you for that correction! I'll pin it for future viewers. I appreciate it!
@@shipwrecksunday you're welcome, thank you. Loving your podcast, by the way! Thank you for sharing your endeavours. 👍
@@5amH45lam Thank you, I appreciate it!
Boats can actually disappear without a trace of debris or bodies. Nowadays with GPS technology Coast Guard can find the boat. The life boat found was probably came loose by the crew or broke off the side and just kept floating.
Just found you. Excellent. Thanks for the great sea stories- from an old mariner.
@@robinwiddrington5765 Thank you so much! I really appreciate that, especially from someone of your esteem. Cheers!
Just found this vid, overall a good telling of the story. But two points, 1 - the euro? Over a hundred years before it came into existence, and even then as a British Company losses would not have been in euros anyway,we never adopted it, 2 - the SS Celtic, 'sell'- tic is a Scottish football team, the ships name was pronounced 'Kel'- tic, as in the ancient Celtic people of Britain and Ireland.
Who knows ? in those days once a ship sails out of sight its on its own with no communication possible till it arrives at its destination , we can only hope one day it may turn up from a survey ships mapping the sea bed as many lost ship wrecks have been found in this way.
Right? It was a mystery as soon as they left port! Thanks for your support!
Thanks again friends.
Bottles that are thrown overboard do not go UP rivers ane while the Mersey is a big river and might have some tidal bore but not that much LOL
Thanks again for the content

Your opening declaration of not (yet) being maritime historians, nor experts in the field of mid to late-19th-century advancements in engineering helped me listen carefully to how well you are accomplishing the very sizeable task of researching and understanding. This presentation was not bad at all. In one or two points, you seemed to make a couple of mentions that may have been confusing. You mention historians, Eaton and Haas, and the wording seemed to imply these men were historians who were contemporaries of the 1890s. Eaton and Haas are two contemporary historians of today. Both men are heavily interested in the sinking of the Titanic and have written a reliably accurate account of the Titanic's history in the recent past. This book was popular and large and had 2 editions printed. The book is entitled "Titanic...The Triumph and Tragedy/". Though out of print, you could obtain a reasonable copy in excellent condition for far less money than its original cost. It is beautifully illustrated and accurate at the point of printing. I think your site has the potential to appeal to a younger demographic of listeners/watchers. who is becoming interested in the Industrial and Golden Age of the ocean liner? As for the Euros complaint, I was not bothered by using this International and modern currency in the context of quoting today's equivalent price to the cost in 1890's British pound sterling. Good effort. Focus on beginners and let them learn with you.
I'm sure someday someone will come across it in time !
Just fyi yard number isn’t the yard she was built in it was the number assigned to her hull by the building yard.
@@patburrell I learned this over time and I appreciate you correcting this as well ❤️ cheers!
I had the dumbest theory: the naronic has never been found because it was squished by titanic, my reasoning is that we can deny this is immediately false and we have no sight of it as the titanic is humongous and we can’t find anything beneath it, next fact is considering it hit an iceberg means it was in a similar area, but we can confirm it’s location as it was lost
I mean, it's not the most plausible, but in this wild, weird world anything is possible!
@@shipwrecksunday yeah, i shared it with a conversation about the naronic and my mates looked either so lost or started laughing
@@shipwrecksunday thanks, I half knew it wouldn’t work because i just simply have a bad ideas, but no one alive can say they know for sure, meaning, it can’t be confirmed nor denied
@@Someone.southafrica A theory is never bad/silly in my mind - only plausible or implausible! But still, it gets you thinking and there's always that small possibility it's true!!
@@shipwrecksunday thanks
This is a fascinating story
Totally agree! Thanks so much!
