It was really good and now totally necessary with all the power and text creep we see in Magic… I miss Vampire Nighthawk: Flying, Deathtouch, Lifelink and all the remaining text was flavour text to develop the lore…
You expertly piloted your deck in Match 3 against U/W control. Control is my worst match ups as a player, but I've learned so much over the years of watching you calmly play through and assess situations like this. You really are the best out there, Luca! Appreciate you tons, man 🤘
Came here to say this. LVD is just a masterclass. I've said this before, if making youtube vids wasn't more lucrative, he could be at the top levels of the ProTour
Another card that I've found works extremely well in blue energy decks is Roil Cartographer. It's a 1/3 so it blocks some aggro pretty well, and +1 energy per land adds up with all of the fetches and other energy cards so hitting that 6 energy to draw 3 happens way more easily than you think.
Back in the day I went pretty deep into day 2 of a GP and I was one of the only dynavolt tower decks in a field of vehicles and constrictor decks. Still one of my favourite cards of all time
Just from the first match I was very anxious about that but hearing you so calm and collected that you still made a comeback just goes to show how good you are at this game! Props to you legend! Respect!
Wow, splashing into green just for Attune with Aether. Adding a 3rd color just for that card seems like a stretch. Is there no better option? They arent' good cards, but could you use Inventor's Axe or Thriving Turtle? Or in the 2 drop slot there's a bunch of resonable options; maybe Aether Theorist or Roil Cartographer? Or is the land draw from Attune just that valuable?
It's a cheap sorcery that triggers Tower and also generates additional energy. The extra color is a relatively low cost, since we want to be playing Aether Hub and Prismatic Vista regardless.
@@LegenVD Huh, yeah. I gues I wasn't thinking that you already have 8 potential green sources in the mana base even if you cut green entirely, so it makes sense to leverage Attune for the partital land advantage and to have a sorcery as opposed to a creature. and thank you so much for the reply! I was a bit puzzled at the trade off, but as you point out, the cost is already relatively low given the mana base. thank you! Love your content! Best MTG creator on youtube. I really really REALLY miss the draft videos though, but I still love the constructed content!
Legend! Just the man who can help me solve my problems! I normally don’t put up request videos, but I think a cool theme with Ral, Monsoon Mage would be to incorporate the energy mechanic with him in a spellslinger brawl deck. Can this be done!?!?!?
Recently i play Izzet variant. Vs aggro meta I must add wraths (brotherhood ends), because 1for1 changes are slow. Other good card here is "Fable of the mirror breaker", helps with revolt (but this card is good everywhere).
End of Game 2 was insane. Aether Hub: 3 damage Unstable Amulet: 4 damage Harnessed Lightning: 5 damage (+4 from Dynavolt) Dynavolt activation: 5 damage That's 21 available face damage just from cards you already had in hand or in play beginning the turn. Amped Raptor: 4 damage (+3 +3 from Unstable Amulets) 31 damage plus whatever Amped Raptor hit. (EDIT: It doesn't hit anything oops) Ludicrous. You wiped their entire board and had damage to spare.
when it comes to sweeper, maybe wraith of the skies would be a nice on-theme choice, but i guess it's pretty anti synergistic with your low cost artifact as it also destroys enchantment and artifact so....
I know I'm very tempted to spend a few rare wild cards to try this out even though I never really play historic either. I opened one Aether Revolt in my free mh3 packs so it would only cost 4 rare wildcards. I'll swap the 4 Prismatic Vista for 4 Fabled Passage to save the mythic wildcards.
@@darron614 Dynavolt Tower is also rare, and depending on your collection, it might cost a few rare wildcards for lands. Everything considered, is still not bad. I think I'll try drafting MH3 first, and then I'll decide if I'm going to build this. It's tempting but at the same time, I really like playing Standard.
@@DiogoVKersting yeah I mostly play standard and occasionally historic brawl. I should have been more clear though. I already have the 4 fast dual lands in the deck, so I just need to craft 1 Aether and 3 Dynavolt. I had 3 Fabled Passage and added one Bountiful Landscape to replace the 4 Prismatic Vista.
Hey legend, want to again get your input on pure izzet version of this deck. I've been playing a version running 4 revolt and 4 Whirler Virtuoso with some copies of Cyclops Superconductor. Do you feel like Attune with Aether alone is the worth the splash to Temur? What is the reasoning to run Dynavolt Tower instead of just trying to find your revolts since you are almost guaranteed to win the turn after it resolves. Thanks again for video, love the content
The absolute greed in the first game of not killing symmetry sage while the wizard opponent is tapped out in the hope they literally just pass the turn so you can draw.
Can someone explain to me why Harnessed Lightning costs two mana and can only target creatures, while Galvanic Discharge can target creatures or planeswalkers for only one mana, and they both have the same effect? This just power creep?
@@LegenVDGotcha. I'm still getting used to the mentality around different formats. I used to only play alchemy until I started watching your vids. Helped me really understand the ins and outs of standard and got me to mythic. Love the content!
It's actually quite a nice deck but sadly I've had a horrible experience against it in midweek magic event of mh3 constructed. All I wanted to do is have fun with uncommon eldrazi ramp deck and everyone been playing this energy deck (minus some cards of course) and it was terrible experience.... By turn 6 I'd be dead and couldn't cast anything cuz all my mana dorks would die
It was first introduced in Kaladesh and broke Standard at the time. They made new energy cards in one of the Fallout precons and a few more in MH3. It's not as broken in today's Modern format as it was at the time of Kaladesh Standard.
Love the fading text to highlight specific effects on walls of text like Aether Revolt - your work in editing the deck intro gets better every time!
Noticed that too. Subtle but very nice!
He's the only channel that I watch the deck tech portion on
Glad you like it!

Dynavolt tower, my beloved. The memories of Magic Duels are flooding back. Attune into harnessed lightning into tower into glimmer of genius
I miss Magic Duels

@@taitchandler1461 Honestly prolly an Unstable Amulet a Raptor and an Attune to fit in 3x Roil Cartographer.
Often I found control deck boring but this is particular amusing to watch. ^^
Great video.
Man, this is really cool for a super budget option on arena.

Eureka indeed Legenvd!
Wow, I'm impressed that this deck is rocking Dynavolt Tower! Seems like a lot of fun, love the Historic coverage!
Turning energy into actual lightning bolts is surely a flavor win
Really awesome budget option. Crafted the deck and is playing it!
Awesome deck. The energy synergy is potent and you made some great gameplay choices as well. Thanks for the amazing content.
Much appreciated!
Some masterful games in this one LVD. Very impressive as always!
Thank you kindly!
If I had a nickel for every time this energy deck won at 1 life, I'd have 2 nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that happened twice. xD
Provides a lot of value
Attune with Aether, man that was a good time, Aether Hub into Attune, fix your mana for turns 2-3
Definitely my favourite MTG content creator.
I’m ambivalent they brought energy back

7:28 active unstable amulet in your turn has some problem as player wish to consume 4 energy in a turn.

it's not meta by any means, but I'd love to see a green/black landfall deck!
like how few rares and mythics are needed
I very rarely go up against an energy deck, but whenever I do, I get creamed.
The absolute greed in the first game of not killing symmetry sage while the wizard opponent is tapped out in the hope they literally just pass the turn so you can draw.
Idk but maybe you could replace tower with Bristling Hydra or Whirler Virtuoso which both used to be absolute monsters back in the day.
Virtuoso is certainly an option, Hydra seems too clunky for the format (although could be a neat sideboard plan).

Oof, Ninjas player missed lethal there by mismanaging their blue sources. Could have got you! Still, nice showing.
What would be a good sweeper for this format?
Anger of the Gods, Brotherhoods End or Sweltering Suns all roughly do the same.
after building a pure izzet version i don't think green brings that much to the table. and the tower is just to slow,
ARe those puns panning out? :D
is there a way to filter for cards with energy in the deck builder?
I believe you can just use o:energy
What's the best graveyard hate sideboard in this deck?
Gaea's Blessing can do double duty against mill, but there's a ton of colorless options. Relic of Progenitus, Tormod's Crypt, Stone of Erech ...
What's energy? Is that a new mh3 mechanic? Seems like it could be pretty strong... maybe even win a tournament

Very nice deck but spending 3 wildcards on those Towers feels so bad...
The deck can certainly work without them!
19:28 You would’ve lost to an Island here lol (one more ninjutsu Shadow)
If the deck goes down to 1 life on the play against a terribe Wizards hand, then it's not really playable.
I don’t care they brought energy back
Turn 1 game 1 no reason for not playing the spell, that ruin your game.
