This guy should win some kind of award or something. He is one of a seemingly dying breed of truly talented musicians in the world. Not to mention that he created, basically from scratch, all of his own equipment. It is this kind of screw the mass market, I'm making an *insert crazy invention here* and you can't stop me attitude that we need. If we just start throwing ideas out, no matter how crazy, some of it is going to not only stick, but work and change the world because of it. He might not be some multi-millionaire, but Ed Alleyne is just as, if not more successful in his own right.
Ed Alleynne-Johnson. I have his 'Purple Electric Violin Concerto' album. He is a legend. Played for years with my favourite band, New Model Army. Fantastic.
Ed Alleyne-Johnson is a British electric violinist and prolific busker. He has been busking since he was a Fine Art student at Oxford University in the early 1980s.
awesome....i saw Ed with new model army in 92 at the birmingham hummingbird which he didn't just play with them he also done his own full set totally mind blowing
ye same was like 3-4yrs ago that i saw him playing there when me and a friend where there for an airshow never heard of him before never seen him anywhere (except youtube) since but damn i dropped that 20quid on 2 CD's so fast i surprised myself :P
Forget about money - I'd have chucked my credit card into his bag! I love the size of the crowd - it goes to show that if you're genuinely talented and doing something cool, people will stop to appreciate it.
•Purple Electric Violin Concerto (1992) •Ultraviolet (1994) •Fly Before Dawn (1995) -- co-written by and performed with his wife, Denyze •2020 Vision (1998) -- co-written by and performed with his wife, Denyze •Purple Electric Violin Concerto II (2001) •Echoes (2005) -- two CD album of cover versions
Just great this guy should b on the world stage performing with other greats fusing music and being original, I'd love to see this guy working with the likes of Steve via or even Gary Numan and Prince, yes u heard me right people only great music could come from this. Just one last thing to say "fuck the so called music industry for allowing music to be a targeted commodity and squeezing out the real talents that progress music to another level, we are the music makers and we r the ones who dream the dreams !
This man burns the electric violin. A violin sounds strange when you electro-boost it, but it works in a strange and twisted sort of way. I like his Oxford Suite 4 song though, that's cool.
Also look out for Lindsey Rich she is great also but she plays more celtic style but does covers also and has CD's for sale. Well lets face it anything is better than the shite on the main media now, this is music the way its supposed to be. I keep telling my daughter to Busk she is a trumpet player and could make a stack.
@fill0000 Lol yes people are wondering what it is or who it is and what is he playing but the glimmer of hope is they are listening and not walking off see how the adults give the kids the money to put there?? I have yet to see an adult go up and do that...why? also no applause....SIGH...oh well
i hate no one more than the ones who call this panhandling or infringement on copyright and i know that happens to be americans witch i am but still i fucking hate them music is to learned composed in your own image without the change it will never survive the years hes a musical genuis in my eyes and i would hope that guns and roses would agree and yes i know my speeling isnt the greatest but hey im american how good could it really be just fuckin i can still out dring you LOL
nice sound, (that he didn't create), average playing skills, nie tune(that he didn't create), not really deserving of all this he is a genious stuff, his music(wich isn't his) is pleasant to listen to, but I wouldn't go any further,, you guys comparing him to the world greats should actually listen to some true world greats, no not some fashionable shite, im talking handel, Vivaldi and bach, no one is seriously gonna say this guy, is as good as them are thye, or at least I hope they are not !
mcpartridgeboy Please inform us where your playing next and what instrument you perform on to a vitrtuoso standard and we'll be there.Obviously your musicianship is to such a standard that spelling and grammar are superfluous
sarven10 Il be exhibiting in the Liverpool design festival its not until October though, ! the instrument I ply is the Nikon d2 with a 24-70mm lense ! I have 9 international honerable mentions or excellence rom the international photography awayrds new York and the px3 prix de la photographie paris ! my work is infinitely superior to this guys but I ail to see how that makes any difference to the statement I made, im assuming you agree he didn't make the sound and didn't make the song so im not sure why you asked me that !
mcpartridgeboy You have not listened to any of his other work have you.He busks to get the publics attention by playing "popular" tunes in the hope that they will then seek out his ORIGINAL work.By the way your spelling and grammar are still deplorable
sarven10 by the way your ignorance is deplorable, maybe someone is disabled, would you say to a person with ms their posture is deplorable ? no you wouldn't, im dyslexic so fucking show some respect you piece of shit
mcpartridgeboy You are a despicable person and have absolutely no class. You offered no creative comments, no "maybe it would be better if he tried it this way" or even that you liked his rendition of the song but that it was better when Guns N Roses played it. Your "photography" skills cannot be compared in anyway to the beautiful music Ed Johnson has been training his entire life to create. And no matter how good your work may be, until you change your attitude you will accomplish nothing. Especially if you are constantly comparing yourself to others. And trust me... I doubt people will ever stop to glance at your silly little polaroid pictures for a fraction of the time they do to stop and enjoy and love Ed Johnson's music. Creep.
saw Ed in Chester last Sunday for the first time in ages. could have stayed listening all day. the man is a genius.

Well said.
I just wish Ed would publisize where he's going to perform. We would love to see him live.
Ed Alleynne-Johnson. I have his 'Purple Electric Violin Concerto' album. He is a legend. Played for years with my favourite band, New Model Army. Fantastic.
Theres nobody forcing the little guy in the striped top to stand and listen--and yet he is....brilliant!!
The guys face with the blue denim shirt on says it all for me--priceless!
Look at the darling little boy standing at military "at ease" position as he listens! What a sweetheart!
WOW... Amazing artist. He can really give his own spin on some classics... This is amazing music. Just makes your spirit come to life...

Forget about money - I'd have chucked my credit card into his bag!
I love the size of the crowd - it goes to show that if you're genuinely talented and doing something cool, people will stop to appreciate it.
I like how he backs up when Ed starts getting crazy like an animatronic gone broken.

Echoes - a double CD of electric violin groovyness.
I loved this when he did it in Chester (where I believe he usually is).
The kids know what's going on!
How do I contact this guy? Want to find out if he's still in the Uk and plays around London.
I wish I had an electric violin I would never stop playing
where he is from?
He is the brother of Chris Angel. He dress almost the same and pay attention, in some acute notes, he levitates.

@bho69 kids are ok, gave him something:)
I can hear you typing
He choose to be street violinist instead of debuting with big music company?
bangbangtangahwei Maybe he likes performing like that. I think it's more special that way, I rarely see any street performers anymore.
He had an Soloalbum out and was in New model Army.
2:51. Skanking to some filthy Violin
@fr3d420 hahahahahahahahaa.. win.
