This is such an excellent adaptation. The care and attention to detail, even extending beyond what's actually in the file, is incredible. This article is very personal, and it's beyond satisfying to see someone lavish that much effort on presenting it well. You really are fantastic at what you do, and I couldn't be more grateful.
I'm really happy to see your article on this channel!! It is one of my favorites you've ever done. Seriously emotional stuff with some great imagery to boot.
@@harryblank43 This is indeed a very emotional and tragic tale you wrote. It just shows how sometimes many if not a large portion of the Foundation “especially the O5” claim they have humanity’s benefit on their mind, but show a huge lack of humanity and morality in their cruel and selfish actions. I’ve got to say, depending on the canon, sometimes the O5 can be absolute heartless bastards.
oh jeez... finding out they were significant others and not just friends or coworkers made it a hell of a lot sadder :( its awful losing someone you love like this
Idk if it's intentional but this SCP is a really good metaphor for dementia, reminds me of my grandma when she was still with us. She was brilliant, it breaks my heart that she went through what she did.
idk if the author has dealt with people who went through dementia or alzheimer's but when i heard the part "Please find attached one page of words. theyre the right ones." that fucking hurt something deep in my soul dude. i had to pause for a couple minutes
This reminds me of my grandmother's last day...I went in to see her and all she could ask me was... are you here to kill me... God this brought tears to my eyes
Goddamn. HarryBlank really hit home for me with this story. Besides the phenomenal storytelling, looking at the comments he gave in the article's discussion page it's obvious he made this story from a deeply personal place, and it's a place I understand far too well. It's clear to see how the reality bending the Doc has is a metaphor for Alzheimer's, as we can further see in his messages to Vivian. I don't know what Harry has/is going through related to that, but my mother is in the early stages of Alzheimer's and the dialogue he gives in his messages to Vivian are all too similar to the few moments my mother is effected by her illness. A sad story, but not necessarily in a solely depressing way. A tale of someone watching a person they love slowly lose themselves over time to something they have no control over, and wanting desperately to help them.
You know that Alzheimer's diseases are shadow memory eaters, they are siren entities from deep bellows that attach to the head by inflicting stress traumas of burnout and repression. Dance, manifesting yourself unapologetically and being unselfish helps to liberate from that mind limiting prison of strange imposings and norms of the limiting matrix of mediocrity. Smoke some weed maybe and do some art + cannabis oil!
I know that helpless feeling of wanting to do anything possible to help them keep their own identity and memories of the people who love them. It's like the slow inevitable squeezing of a sponge draining their sense of self and their experiences from them. It's a very difficult thing to watch someone you love so much go through something so confusing and scary and know that there's nothing you can do to stop it. You can only try to make their lives as comfortable as possible until they're freed of this world. I love you grandpa and I will cherish every moment of our time we had here together.
Oh, wow! This one is both brilliant, heartbreaking and absolutely horrifying. Probably one of the best SCP stories I've seen. What i can only assume is an analogy for dementia and the breakdown of the human mind, truly hits hard. Real SOMA vibes
Working for the SCP Foundation means having to go over the moral boundaries. This organization is well above the law and the stuff they deal with could destroy a person mentally and quite literally.
When dealing with monsters, you often should be sure that you don’t eventually become a monster yourself, because not all monsters look like a monster.
Sometimes the worst monsters that go bump in the night isn't some flesh warped hellspawn, some night.arish voidthing from another world, or even that murderous teddy bear. Sometimes... It's the person you see in the lunch line every day, you see serving the lunch, hell. Could just be that civilian on the side of the street. The situation with Wynn has changed a great deal in recent years. The Foundation actually tired to help him sending down a drug that might help him. The drug does work but only for a limited time and even when sane Wynn has changed so much that he really does not want to leave. Knows he still has a part to play in future events maybe? Their containment of this one is largely based on the loyalty of a man that is long since dead. While they probably have a means of dealing with him if he ever becomes a problem, there is still going to be a huge toll to be paid if he decides to go for a walk and is done with his imprisonment.

The site 43 canon is something that I’ve tried to dive deeper into after reading the B&B decommission story (note that the story is also connected to another canon and a storyline). I want to see more of the SCP’s in this canon featured like “Doug” and the “Schriftstellers”, and definitely more SCP’s in the canon that I didn’t know. Also the part where Vivian talked about the SCP’s brother is when I realized the SCP’s condition was a dementia metaphor. In the late savages of the disease, some would essentially be stuck in time, thinking that people who are dead in reality are alive, and thinking that some of their loved ones are children, even it they are much older in reality. The fact that I know this because 1-2 days ago I watched a video essay about “The Fear of Forgetting” and this is what I watched today, kinda concerns me, since I’m a person with some superstitious beliefs due to a history with deja vu’s and a certain number that would appear before plenty of significant events.
It seems ...unwise... to kinda-sorta contain a kinda-sorta mentally-unstable reality bender locked away in a place they want to escape from and desires their own life of suffering to end. Seems like a great way to induce a CK or XK event. O5-8 better hope Wynn doesn't figure out it was them that shackled him indefinitely.
