Yeah I agree with that pricing. For $45k I would have bought it over the Supra for sure. Hopefully they do some good upgrades for 2024 and make the Nismo not more expensive then a Supra
Good review. Z suspension could’ve been better. However, with the price difference, I can use that to mod my car and make more power and better suspension then the supra. I’m comparing a Z Performance. Fully loaded car. To the premium 3.0 Supra. Fully loaded car. Sit in a Supra and spend some time in it, then hop into the Z. Big difference. Supra is so shrink wrapped around you, then going into the Z, it just feels a bit odd.

I have been a Z fan for years now, but I really hate the style they did with the 2023 model. It reminds me of my 1986 RX-7 which was great at the time but is very outdated now.
The Supra looks and feels like a sports car, but the problem is the BMW engine, too many comments about the reliability issue, especially after 50k miles, aren't you concern about it? I just hope Toyota can build their own engine, BMW engine is notorious for breaking bank account.
The B58 is one of the most reliable bmw engines! I’m not worried about it at all. I won’t have the car by 50K miles though, but it’s easy to maintain. My brother has an X5 with the same engine and again, X5 is the most popular bmw suv sold and it’s reliable.
@@motto666 My car only has 2k miles. Not a daily. But tons of Supra owners are past 50k. Nobody has had any issues with these cars. We are into the 5th model year and there hasn’t been any mainstream problems. Supra has been proven to be very reliable. Toyota helped develop the engine. They took the B58 apart and rebuilt it to their standards
I bet the automatic Z will be more reliable than the automatic Supra. The automatic Z doesn’t have a dual clutch transmission, and you’ve got to drive those dual clutch transmissions a certain way to make them last.
@@Nihil2005 I doubt it. Supra has a ZF 8 speed. One of the best autos out there. Z has a Mercedes 9 spd. Not really a fan of how it drives. I'm sure either are plenty reliable tho, but ZF is top notch!
@@Nihil2005 you are missinformed, the ZF8HP is one if not the best wet auto transmission in the market now days. Easy to program, easy to mod and super reliable.
Regardless of all that, the Z is just prettier and is a real JDM car. True, the Z is more muscle car than sport car, but for the streets that is ok. And if not for the Z, Toyota would have just had an automatic for its BMW. The Z forced Toyota's hand on that.
Supra is still a better car overall and well worth a few grand more. Years later the Supra's hold good value. Z depreciates really bad and is even discounted on the new market. So clearly the demand for the Supra has been much higher then the Z. I sold this Supra for about what I paid. Had I bought the Z, I would have lost $10k.
@@Karlkn Have you ever driven one? That’s fine if you don’t like them, but they are very performance focused and amazing cars! Toyota also owns part of bmw as well, and Toyota had a big part in the design of the Supra.
That was a small part. However the whole time I tested out the Z, I said multiple times its a bit soft. Once it came time to spend my money, I just couldnt see dropping $55k on a car I knew I'd think was soft and needed so many things to make as good as a Supra. Supra popping up at sticker just reinforced the idea that I might as well start out with a car amazing out of the gate. Hopefully the Nismo Z is better
I'll preface this comment by saying I have been an avid watcher of your videos and have supported the channel for years; ever since you first got the 370Z. That being said, this is arguably one of the most biased videos I've ever seen on this channel. If you honestly disclosed at the end that you were paid by Toyota for this, I wouldn't have been surprised. It's quite ridiculous to see you constantly bash the Z, when you had a completely different opinion of it when you first reviewed it (before purchasing the Supra). To see you try to call it "less of a sports car" simply because you don't feel comfortable in the seats and because it has more body roll almost seems like you trying to justify that spending an extra almost $7K (for a car that's actually on the same playing field) as worth it. The way you constantly exaggerate your reactions with the Supra when you've already owned it for a little while and have gotten familiar with it just shows how biased this review really is, despite the constant comments of it not being a biased review. Having driven both myself, I can confidently say that the Z definitely feels more powerful and that they are not on the same playing field in terms of power. I've seen dyno results of both stock as well, and have seen the Z consistently make more power and torque stock for stock. You constantly put down the Z in areas where it's worse (ridiculous areas like seat comfort which is subjective to the driver's preferences), but fail to mention any areas where it's better (power/torque output) other than pricing. EVEN if you didn't like the seats or suspension, buying the Z and dropping $3K on a set of recaros and adjustable coilovers would fix both these issues AND STILL be a better deal than the Supra. So to call the Supra an amazing deal, and to call the Z "less of a sports car" is obviously you trying to justify overpaying (my opinion) for a car that's equally as good as the Z. This doesn't even take into account the fact that you didn't even get a cool color option that you wanted with the Supra, despite paying so much more. That gorgeous Seiran Blue makes the Z look much better than the boring black on the Supra. Also want to mention that I'm not a Supra hater; I think that it's a decent car overall. I'm just leaving my honest reaction to this review due to the fact that I think it was extremely biased and unfair to the Z. The way you make it seem like it's beneath the Supra simply because of seats (which once again, you mentioned like 20 times in the video), and suspension that isn't as stiff just wasn't fair. I hope that you're able to see where I'm coming from instead of just seeing this as a hate comment. I truly do enjoy your content and videos; I just wish this one had been more neutral with honest reviews instead of all the bias. Also wish you had waited for the better (and cheaper) choice. Would've loved to see the modification on the Z from this channel.
Honestly it just took time driving both cars to really see the differences. It was easy to love the Z when I first tested it. It in those videos I said many times that it felt a bit soft and the seats felt small. So everything I said in this video is what I’ve said when I first drove the new Z. After driving the Z and Supra back to back at the tail of the dragon. That’s when I saw how much better the Supra is out of the gate. And that the Nismo Z will be the car on par with a Supra. Yeah the Supra costs more, but when it came time to buy I just could see spending $55k on a car that I didn’t love. Supra checked everything and simply was better. Drive these cars back to back and let me know what you think. There is a big difference with how nice it feels sitting in the Supra and we’ll it handles. Z just isn’t there. Nismo Z will be the one that fits my taste better
After watching many many comparisons for months, your comments about the seating position are what made me finally decide on a supra

I owned a 370Z and loved it. I like the new Z, but I see so many parts are carried over, especially the interior. I think I would go for a manual Supra if I had to choose one.
Yeah you can tell it feels like a 370 with a new dash and engine. Would have liked to see better seats and suspension for sure
Nissan is real daddy!
It’s a good budget version of the Supra
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Nissan make there own cars not like knock off zupra it does not know if it Toyota or bmw Transgender that already make Nissan real daddy!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed gt500 racing u see who’s real daddy!
@@Nismo1983 But the Supra is a better car then the Z. BMW and Toyota built one of the best cars out there. All the performance of an M car and refinements of a BMW, but with Toyota reliability, tuning and styling. Perfect blend
@@Nismo1983 Yeah that car costs $20k+ more then a Supra...
I’ve been in the new Z and I definitely agree with your review. The Z Performance honesty should be priced about $45k starting as it is a bit underwhelming at $53k.
Yeah I agree with that pricing. For $45k I would have bought it over the Supra for sure. Hopefully they do some good upgrades for 2024 and make the Nismo not more expensive then a Supra
@@BrosFOURRSpeed yeah, my fear is they will charge $60k(plus) for a Nismo. However, we will see.
@@NismoSupraYeah I hope not! I’ll buy one if it’s less or equal to my Supra. It it has to be crazy good to pay more then that for
Good review. Z suspension could’ve been better. However, with the price difference, I can use that to mod my car and make more power and better suspension then the supra. Plus, z is a way better looking vehicle. Not to mention, it’s a Nissan not a bmw product. Some people like authentic Japanese cars.
Good points. Coilovers will d a lot on the Z! However I love the BMW in the Supra. Thats why it's such a good car. If the Supra was a 100% Toyota, it'd be the same as the Z and just not as good as it is. BMW makes some of the best sportscars. I love that in the car
@@BrosFOURRSpeed no doubt. Everyone has their own preferences. That ZF8 transmission is so damn good too. Wish the Z had a tranny like that. But still love driving my Z around town. Enjoy your rides man
100%, plus - reliability it is not about BMW!
@@mirag810 yeah would have been nice to see a better auto. But regardless both cars are a blast!
@@kors3500 actually that’s not true anymore. BMW is ranked number 3 in reliability. Toyota and Lexus are 1 and 2. Toyota owns a 10% stake in BMW. Everything 2020 and newer from BMW is solid in reliability
I like this review
Just surprised about the “sunken” in perspective on the new Z
In my 350z I feel like it’s way too sunken in. Even worse with bucket seats. Drove a buddy’s 370z and visibility wise was a bit better but I’ve been wishing to see a little over the steering wheel more. Kinda excited about the fact that I have this view on the new Z now.
But also this comparison is a base model Z vs a Manual Premium GR Supra right ?
I’m comparing a Z Performance. Fully loaded car. To the premium 3.0 Supra. Fully loaded car. Sit in a Supra and spend some time in it, then hop into the Z. Big difference. Supra is so shrink wrapped around you, then going into the Z, it just feels a bit odd.
for 6500 you can make a good amount of tunning to the Z !)
Very true! Definitely a good way to go to make some power and stay under that $60k mark
Congratulations
Thanks! Fun car to test out!
Trade it in for the Nismo Z once it comes out.
I won’t trade it in most likely. But I’ll definitely buy the Nismo when available!
Nice! I can’t wait for that 1 month or 2 month video update on the Z. I’m sure you’ll be a lot happier with it. Too bad the automatic Z doesn’t have a dual clutch transmission like the Supra.
@@Nihil2005 Supra has a ZF torque converter. no DCT. But the ZF is the best auto in the game. Way better then what the Z has. But that will be some fun with a Nismo Z!
I lost interest in Z after FL5 came out and Nissan struggled to put the cars on the street.
That is a sweet car! But yeah it took forever and I probably still wouldnt have it. I hope the Nismo can come out soon and be a leg up on the Supra. Z has a lot to offer tho for a lower price. Just wasn't for me
Supra style completely trumps the z imo. ❤ I think it's good the Z exists in this day and age... Shame we don't get it in the Europe, but would probably still go supra for me.
I do like the Z style. Just needs to be lowered with wider wheels. But the Supra is certainly beautiful!
What a great channel. It’s hard to understand how channels like smoking tire has a million subs when guys like this are providing nuance.
Yeah I wonder if big channels like that are backed by big companies and pay for subs. Not sure lol
Weird I feel more comfortable in the seats of the Z, the Supra seats give me a backache. In terms of driving dynamics I agree that the Supra feels more precise and precision-built.
Yeah different key types will feel different. My proportions and height, I just can’t get comfortable in the Z
Bro it's all stock if you want it to fit you put more money in it nismo style but it's still awesome sports car
Yeah I would have. But as mentioned in the video, the Supra would still be better since I'd be doing the same mods to whatever car I bought. I need to start off with a better platform. Nismo will be a better start point. I couldnt see buying a car that I don't 100% like and am only betting on me liking it after moded. Supra doesn't need mods to be a blast! I love it stock and mods make it even better. Stock Z just doesnt do it for me
It’s perfectly fine to be a Supra”fan boy”!
lol however I had a Supra and sold it for the Z. After 18 months of waiting and riving several Z's, I bought another Supra since it was better. Not that I'm a fan boy, I just wanted the better car. Nismo Z will be my taste for a Z
@@BrosFOURRSpeed nothing wrong with being a fan boy, I am one! ‘21 Renny red and all stock.
lol hard not to be since it's such a good car! Even after selling my white one. Driving so many other cars at this price point, I just couldnt say no to a manual version. Just ticks every box
"This is a car that can run up against BMW M2!!"
Well the "Supra" is a BMW with Toyota badges. LoL
Supra is BMW’s twin. BMW is the aggressive one and Supra is the nice one.
Yeah obviously. ua-cam.com/video/lfriLa3ZijY/v-deo.html
But it truly does stack up to more expensive cars
@@Nihil2005 Other way around lol. M2 is the luxury version, Supra is the track car. ua-cam.com/video/lfriLa3ZijY/v-deo.html
It's funny how the haters at car meetups on either side telling you that you should've got the Supra or Z instead of whatever car you pulled up at the car meet.
But watching them flip out that you already own the car they said you should've gotten lmao ❤
Everyone has an opinion for sure. Supra just has that extra wow factor and was worth the price increase. Excited for the Nismo tho!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed yeah the Nismo will be a better replacement of the last one you've owned.
I will be waiting on your thoughts on the different specs on the comparison on the Z performance n the Supra.
Great review!
@@micahdavidmorningstar4176 Yeah I'm pumped for that! The Z performance is a lesser car compared to my old 370 Nismo. So it just was a step back from a Supra or my old Nismo. New one should be awesome!
Haven't seen a Z on the street yet. Markups killing the Z. 😅
I could have bought one for MSRP, just have to be smart and shop around!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed for the most part, i haven't seen any Z's in my area even at dealer lots. Maybe one in the last 6 months
@@beexiong2995 I've seen 1 so far. They are not getting to dealers well. I probably still wouldnt of had mine by now. 18 months of waiting got old. Supra's, while still low volume, are at least getting to dealers
Cayman 718 GTS is surely better than both?!
You should try the Lotus Emira. Everyone says for a drivers car under 100k, its the best. Better than a Supra, Z, M2, C8 Vette and right there with a Cayman GTS
Yeah that's be some fun to check out!I'd hope a $100k car is better then a $60k car tho!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Lol yeah it should.
Seating position of supra was same as the 86 feels like you ate sunk into it and a real cockpit sports car feel. Thats what I felt too even on previous Z toyota knows how place the driver in proper position. Its more into like and taste of looks too Z is morea retro classic vibe comapared to Supra which is sleek and sporty look and not playing around.
Very true! My 2012 Z feels the same as this new one. My 2016 Nismo had the bucket seats and I loved them! So Supra was just a much better seating position for me. New Nismo would be cool to check out since it has nice buckets
I have been a Z fan for years now, but I really hate the style they did with the 2023 model. It reminds me of my 1986 RX-7 which was great at the time but is very outdated now.
Yeah we’ll see how this retro design ages
The Supra looks and feels like a sports car, but the problem is the BMW engine, too many comments about the reliability issue, especially after 50k miles, aren't you concern about it? I just hope Toyota can build their own engine, BMW engine is notorious for breaking bank account.
The B58 is one of the most reliable bmw engines! I’m not worried about it at all. I won’t have the car by 50K miles though, but it’s easy to maintain.
My brother has an X5 with the same engine and again, X5 is the most popular bmw suv sold and it’s reliable.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed What is the mileage now? Does this have a lifespan of 50k like other BMW's engines?
@@motto666 My car only has 2k miles. Not a daily. But tons of Supra owners are past 50k. Nobody has had any issues with these cars. We are into the 5th model year and there hasn’t been any mainstream problems. Supra has been proven to be very reliable. Toyota helped develop the engine. They took the B58 apart and rebuilt it to their standards
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Glad to hear that, thanks for the info. I subbed.
The supra looks beautiful * my question would be which one is more “reliable”…… my guess is the Toyota , ❤
I bet the automatic Z will be more reliable than the automatic Supra. The automatic Z doesn’t have a dual clutch transmission, and you’ve got to drive those dual clutch transmissions a certain way to make them last.
Supra's have been very reliable so far 4 model years in
@@Nihil2005 I doubt it.
Only reason I bought the Z is the affordability. In Au, same price as a gr Corolla. 5000 more than a gr Yaris. Easy decision if you want a two seater.
Wow thats crazy! A base Z isnt bad for pricing. You just miss out on a lot of aspects needed. Whats a Supra cost where you live?
New Z doesn't look good to me yet.
May grow on you
Supra all day, every day.
Why!?
6 months later: Z forsale!
lol when I do buy one, we'll see how long I'd keep it. Nismo will be a blast! But will be fun to have Z and Supra together!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed I'm waiting on the Nismo Z also. I don't like the front of this regular Z. Nissan needs to make the Z lower like the Zupra.
@@kuvyoghmoobamelica6883yeah hopefully the Nismo is a big step up. I’m sure a Z lowered with wider wheels looks pretty sweet
❤❤❤
Fun cars for sure!
Nissan Z is not as nice as the Supra but wait for Nismo Z.......
Yeah that's the plan ;)
Good job getting the Supra man. The Z is too meh.
Supra is amaizng! Z Nismo needs to hurry up!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed I hear that. Great pickup man enjoy. Can’t wait to see what else you do to it. Z is just too bland.
Nissan Z over the Supra because it's a BMW!
But BMW makes some of the best sports cars. That’s why it’s so good! Had toyota built the Supra on their own, it’d feel the same as the Z
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Had Toyota built the Supra, I would favor it over the Z. I'm not a fan of anything BMW.
@@Karlkn Have you ever driven one? That’s fine if you don’t like them, but they are very performance focused and amazing cars! Toyota also owns part of bmw as well, and Toyota had a big part in the design of the Supra.
The think the M2 would be more fun and tossable than those.
Define the fun you would have!? It weight the most of all so it’s not as tossable. Still amazing to drive but not as “raw” feeling.
Negative
Wish supra did not have a b m w engine
Why? Toyota did tuning on it. Toyota owns a part of bmw now so it’ll be a reliable engine.
But then it would be way more expensive.
Z will depreciate more so get a used Z
I'm sure it will. Supras hold value well and people love them. Z sales are pretty slow. I've still only ever seen 2 of them on the roads
Dude you bought the Supra cuz you didn't want to wait for the Z to be released. Completely understandable the Z launch has been a disaster!
Its "ZED" NOT "ZEE"
