In this video I overhaul the original R12 system!
Can’t wait to see the transformation of this wagon 👌
Slowly but surely she's coming along!!!
Over here in Europe, if I asked my garage to change all the parts you are changing it would be around 30k USD.
Yes completely refurbishing one of these cars is very expensive. Well I guess expensive is relative but refurbishing all the parts on one of these vehicles can easily be $30,000
Wow. The test drive of this car will be epic! (And it is summer, so the new AC will talk loud and clear) Great video!
Yeah these original r12 systems are about four to six degrees cooler than the r134 systems. Don't get me wrong the r134 still works great and I have that in my daily driver classic Mercedes but the original r12 just takes it slightly colder.
@@woodsandbarclay Thanks for the explanation.
Would you mind sharing the information on the temperature switch? I had to drill and tap my dryer cap to connect the original M6 temp probe to my dryer. I am filling mine with R290 gas and replaced the front fan. I think the fan is still not coming on soon enough.
Please email me directly and I can give you a part number I would have to look it up. john@woodsandbarclay.com
@@woodsandbarclay thank you!
By the way I just started a patreon page and if you're able to contribute you will get access to some unreleased videos that are definitely worth watching. There's a link to the patreon page in the description of this video.
Hello, do you have Information which is the number for plastic cuffs/sleeves on SLS shocks for W123 Limousine?
I'm pretty sure the rubber covers that go over the hydraulic struts are no longer available. However this is not a unique part you can buy rubber covers for generic hydraulic shocks and attach them with clamps.
Do you have a part number for AC refrigerant temperature sensor? Thanks
I would have to look it up I don't know it from memory. Best to just shoot me an email and then I can get back to you via email with the part numbers.
It appears that the compressor on my '84 W126 has recently started leaving a tiny puddle of oil on my garage floor. The R12 system is still super cold though. Do you recommend replacing the compressor and converting to R134, or should I find some R12 when I replace the compressor? Thanks you!
I would just get some more R12 and change out the compressor. R12 is readily available on Craigslist depending on what part of the country you're in. If you're changing out to compressor it's always a good idea to go ahead and change the receiver dryer just like I did in this video.
@@woodsandbarclay Thanks, appreciate it! I'm in PNW. I see R12 on CL occasionally, but usually in a large tank. I'll keep me eye out for a smaller quantity.
Ti nitko drugi nema.
That's a pretty cool story!
So much priceless information here. These cars will still be running when humans are gone.
Thank you for the kind words I'm so glad you're enjoying the videos.
