I just bought a Aprilaire E070 from you guys, couple weeks ago. I have a 1000 sq ft ranch with a sealed crawl space. Humidity was 83% when I first started dehumid, now its at 55%. I'm wondering if adding duct to both ends of dehumid and Y off of duct to registers in floor of living space. So it would be pulling air in from living space and crawl space. Total sq ft of both spaces is 2000.

What do you think about a water heater dehumidifier unit in the garage?

Micheal, I have a large hvac trunk line that runs the entire length of the house. The trunk line has roughly 3 inches from floor joist to top of trunk line and also 3 or 4 inches from bottom of duct to vapor barrier. Will this trunk line cause a problem for air movement in and out of dehumidifier? Thanks, John in Alabama.

What is the recommended intake and return position for a basement? I mean should it be close to the floor or ceiling?

I'd rather see it close to floor. That's typically where the moisture will originate.

My e100 was just installed into the HVAC ducting. Dang, it’s loud! Louder and more annoying than the A/C. Last, because it’s a fresh install, I have my unit set at 45%, just to pull the humidity from my house to give my A/C some reprieve, which it appears to have done. Unfortunately, the e100 has run virtually non-stop for an entire week.

Any idea of how many watts it uses when running? 45% seems really low, 55 or 60 and it might be able to shut off.

I have an e070 , for a properly size finished basement, can i install it in a closet using duct?
Im wondering if it will only measure the RH in the closet? Thanks!

Carlos, thanks for reaching out to us. Michael said "Sensors can measure air moved through the machine via ducting. Make sure the supply and return are ran outside closet." Please let us know if that answers your question. Thanks for being a fan of our channel.

What is the difference between using 8" duct vs. 10" duct in this application? The ports are 10" and I'm a newbie. Thanks.

My apologies if I said the wrong size duct to port size. 10 inch duct is great too.

Love your videos 👍 I've been trying to get in touch with someone at the company about my space outside Knoxville. Left a few messages with the main office and the marketing department. Hoping to get ahold of YOU though. Would be great to collaborate on something together on UA-cam 😁

i've been waiting to pull the trigger on an april air whole home dehumidifer, I read that they won't cover warranty for diy, and they are known to leak and break in 18 months? is that still the case?

    • @CrawlSpaceNinja

Aprilaire does honor their warranty for dehumidifier purchases made from our DIY Store. I would check with them directly if you are considering purchasing elsewhere just to make sure. You just have to make sure you maintenance the unit twice per year as recommended. You would contact Aprilaire directly to place any warranty claims. As for reliability, the Aprilaire dehumidifiers have been the most reliable we've found in our 15 years being in business. We rarely have to replace them for our customers or have situations where the condensate pump fails.

Aprilaire warranties any of their dehumidifiers for 5 years no matter where you bought it. They are a great company and IMO the best on the market. Their tech dept said they only have a 1 percent fail rate. That's excellent

Is it possible to tap into the return box and take the air from there ? This way no need to make an extra penetration, will this starve the ac of air ?
Thanks love the channel. Not much solid info out there.

Thank you, yes the ducting can be setup numerous ways. Aprilaire has many suggestions in their install documents.
