The UA-cam algorithm has brought me full circle. I started a few weeks ago on That Mitchell and Webb look, and then watched through all of Fry and Laurie's Jeeves and Wooster, and now here I am.

This sketch inspired me to read the books- Mitchell and Webb encourages reading!!! 😉

Ironically enough, Webb would himself go on to play Wooster on stage.

This is an absolutely brilliant take on the books! 😂 Makes me wonder if Jeeves and Wooster could work in a modern setting and still be as funny

Probably. You'd have to tweak some stuff, but the basic idea works. The hard part is getting Bertie right...He's a VERY specific archetype that, essentially, has ceased to exist.
That sort of genial, affable trust fund second son isn't as much of a deal. For one, proper artistocrats don't have credit before, and two...business company "Second sons" (Or Knuts as Wodehouse thought) aren't as...popular.
See Succession. Roman is funny, Roman is interesting...Roman isn't LIKEABLE. Roman doesn't REALLy have a 'reputation' to uphold. I mean, not getting caught with a dead hooker or a live boy, maybe...but, like, not a kind that would involve the sorta craziness that makes a Jeeves and Wooster story.
There's a VERY specific ATMOSPHERE you have to make believable. Once you get that, well, things are a matter of setting up and tipping over the brilliant dominoes.

I do like that, technically, the “face-book generation” could be anyone who would write in university face books, for which the website was named.

This satire isn't that spot-on. Bertie was the one who always came up with bad plans, while Jeeves' always worked, (when executed as suggested).

That’s the point of the humor. These are friends of Bertie who are as clueless as he is.

They also praise Adolf Hitler in another, and in yet another they bash James Bond

...But Jeeves' plans also made Bertie look bad a few times (esp. in 'Right ho, Jeeves')

@@niclasjohansson5992 To be fair, the characters' bashing of Bond (and Shaggy in another sketch) is much less clueless than the Bashir of Jeeves or the praising of Hitler.
