One of the funniest jokes is when he breaks down over the guy wearing pajamas until 5 p.m.
RIP Jeeves, you would have hated depressed millennials
And just throws a sweater over them
@@csurnamefrankly I think he’d weep in horror at the sight of millennials in general.
2:50 his despairing wail sends me every time
Followed by needing to leave the room when confronted with a horseshoe-print tie
New Jeeves and Wooster content? In this day and age? What a marvellous and miraculous occurrence!
Tbh I made this purely selfishly so all the clips of him being dramatic are in one place and I can watch them when I need cheering up 😂 watch this space though cos I'm definitely gonna do more!
Such fab quality as well
@@sashaking1115 Aw cheers ❤
@@oldbetter-or-for-worser8359 you’re very welcome!🥰
And purely in the vicinity of my kitchen?
Jeeves throws the most well mannered shade ever. He is my spirit guide.
Jeeves has an attitude like he's always trying to figure whether Wooster's money is worth it, but then he interacts with other people and it makes sense why he stays
Sounds like good adult relationships
When Bertie is the most normal and reasonable person in your life, you’d also look after him like a foolish son.
Ahhhh my favorite exchange is cut short:
"Which suit shall you wear sir?"
"Oh, aah this one I should think."
"Very good sir."
*cuts to them in public with him wearing a different suit.*
I didn't think it fitted the video because it was Jeeves being dramatic but it pained me not to include it! Basically the first of their "battles" that Jeeves wins!
@@oldbetter-or-for-worser8359 it's such a good crop of the joke
I just love Jeeves' sheer fury at the white jacket being smuggled in against his wishes!
That's a look that says "Oh God, he grew a brain now!"
Jeeves was more prepared for the idea of jumping overboard and spending 9 months lost at sea than the idea of Bertie outwitting him for even a second.
Why do you think he's so disturbed at the horseshoe tie? Such a crime against gentlemanly fashion and unlike Bertie he can't simply rid themselves of it
“The working masses and I have barely a nodding acquaintanceship.” 🔥🔥🔥
The delusion of the house negro as MX would deem him.
Very true.
Steven fry being able to express so much while simultaneously being so subtle and rigid is incredibly impressive, and makes Jeeves as a character so much funnier
I wrote a paper for my intermediate seminar class at college using Jeeves and Wooster. Specifically, how Jeeves was a perfect example of the “clever slave” type role as found in Ancient Comedy. It’s nuts cuz it’s totally true 😂. And I had to reread some Wodehouse and rewatch some of these videos for source material… I enjoyed that paper!
No doubt the research was fun.
This sounds like such an interesting paper!
You wrote a college paper on the most obvious and surface observation of the entire series? Professor must have been proud. I wrote one on Robin Hood highlighting its hidden- thief with a heart of gold-theme.
@@A4000 Wtf, dude?!
@@sarahprice659 I retract my comment. Apologies.
Love that people still enjoy this show. It will never not be funny
Absolutely! One of my favorites. 😁
Wodehouse was a genius at satire and Fry and Laurie were genius at the portrayal of it. "Novelty handkerchiefs" 😂😂😂
9:12 I absolutely love the ease with which he takes Bertie’s hat and immediately hands it to the elevator attendant.
My favorite too!
And the guy dons it and walks out the door. 😆😆😆
@@donnavorce8856 He understood the intention, Jeeves had already given him other items of Wooster’s which he had deemed unsuitable, such as some purple socks.
You notice that Jeeves rarely ever throws those ugly clothes away. More often he gives them to someone else. It's probably a class divide thing where Jeeves was raised to keep it, save it, or give it away and that even if it's not useful to you, it's useful to someone else whereas Bertie is probably from the wear it once and throw it out disposable income.
At the very least, Jeeves probably thinks that as long as it's not collecting cobwebs in Bertie's wardrobe, it's not his problem.
@@julieporter7805 Very true, a suit might be given to one of the gardeners, but he does burn a pair of Etonian spats and ‘accidentally’ ruins a white mess jacket.
4:57 The sickened and pensive horror in his face has got to be the best acting I've ever SEEN.
There is no snob, like a gentleman's gentleman.
3:33 allowing the tiniest fraction of a crack in composure whilst facing the opposite way with an eye roll. very good.
9:07 I have this series on DVD, and have watched it several times, but this is the first time I noticed that Jeeves hands the cowboy hat to the black fellow, who promptly takes off his cap, puts on the cowboy hat, and walks out.
Not to mention the way he absolutely rocked it
@@dielaughing73 😂😂😂 He certainly did.
Love the sarcasm.
I love this, Jeeves is full of sass 🥰🥰
I love Jeeves
What a pair. 💗
Were it that we all had a Jeeves in our lives to provide a steadying hand to our more frivilous ineptitudes.
Oh i say.Top hole there...what ?
Closest thing to true utopia I can think of.
stephen fry is a genius bringing all of jeeves' subtle judgment to life!
Stephen Fry the definitive Jeeves.
Can we talk about the fact that Stephen Fry not only passes but makes for quite a pretty woman too?
He certainly does or at least did. It may have helped him that he was a bit younger back then.
But he does carry the look remarcable well. The challenge would be when he would be speaking as he has a rather deep voice. Otherwise I can see him using that as a way to act like a lady on a British daytime tv light drama.
When I think of A Bit of Fry and Laurie, all I hear in my head is "you want to arse the parlor maid?" 🤣🤣🤣. My childhood was delightful af due in part to that show 😁.
2:28 I love how he points at his initials in the wrong order while he says them out loud. 😭🤣
Buy the entire set of DVDs if you haven't already. This old series is 100% awesome.
11:30
*Bertie:* "You don't disapprove, Jeeves?"
*Jeeves:* "It's hardly my place to say, sir."
😂 I still remember that when I first watched this 25+ years ago.
“Well, I know it's hardly your place to say, Jeeves. That doesn't normally stop you.”
What a treasure Fry and Laurie are ❤
"There are some curious objects in the warderobe, Sir...."
Trust Jeeves to tell Wooster off about hankerchiefs with writing on them ! 🎩
I had no idea that monogrammed handkerchiefs were vulgar. Clearly I am a barbarian guttersnipe.
@@kayesilvester1634
Not at all !
Going to boarding school (Like most of the upper crust British brats), all your hankies and clothes would need your name or at least your monogramme sewn on to them.
Not to be lost or confused in the laundry. 👨🎓👩🎓🧑🎓
Why is Jeeves acting like the most disapproving wife ever? XDDDDDDDD
The character Jeeves had such good lines full of really dry wit when dealing with Berty Wooster, so funny.
How Bertie can speak about kidnapping a child like it's nothing. The stache issue always gets me.
7:50 "He has suddenly outsmarted me, but in what I ask you? He packed this atrocity!"
"Well played, Wooster."
That dog and being outwitted by wooster are the only things Jeeves has no solution for.
I love these programs (broadcast on Public Television in the US many years ago) for many reasons, not least of which is that they are a lovely record of the beauty of Stephen’s young manhood. So handsome!
I'm grateful PBS played UK television. Not only for my enjoyment but my young children too.
Love these two working together. Blackadder pairing also splendid ❤❤❤
Yesss! They're fantastic in “Blackadder”!
For those who don't know, it is marvelous comedy, channeling the writings of Mr. P. G. Wodehouse.
This is awesome! Nice work compiling all these hilarious clips!
Apparently Jeeves is not only a valet but also a cook, housemaid and butler. This explains why Bertie never appeared to keep any other servant.
That’s what a Valet is. Jeeves is not a Butler! A Butler only serves food and drinks to his master, and lights his cigars or cigarettes. A Valet is a “Gentleman’s Gentleman” and does everything from ironing his clothes to running a bath or even shaving him. A Butler would generally be a Servant in a larger household and have several footmen working under him, but not be particularly skilled in much other than serving drinks and food. Jeeves is his employer’s only staff and does everything! He can Buttle, and has filled in for Butlers in the past, but that’s far easier than his normal job!
Youre so real @@frasierfreak92
Fry isn't just tall at 6'5", he has a full frame. In drag, he would be quite startling. I know Julia Child was, and she was _'only'_ 6'2".
in a way in the video like this. It does not look like drag. Not at all. In a way it really does look albeit a bit odd that is still fit him well. For drag it would be more over the top. Within it self is more of a art form then anything.
Why do people only see hugh as Dr House? I mean u understand why, his acting was immaculate and the fact he was a co-directer but he was amazing in blackadder and this series, im obsessed with House but im glad ive seen him in blackadder and stuart little first lol
Stuart little, his finest role lmao
I love Jeeves 😂
4:58 may be my fav of all of them! XD Great compilation!!
Jeeves and I agree on mustaches.
Such wonderful quality of video!
bro hated the trombone so much he left his bf
Fry and Laurie were the perfect Jeeves and Wooster.
Who'd have guessed that this man will one day become Gregory House. Hugh Laurie is an amazing actor.
Truly-and he's Prince Regent George, Lieutenant George, and Stuart Little's dad!
I love how some of his "Very good, sirs" sound like "f&$ you!".
0:20-How dare Jeeves not want to commit major felonies!
0:39-Yes enemies often just throw clothes into other people's wardrobes so..they look bad?
0:59-"What part of none of your business do you not understand, sir?"
1:10-How to traumatize a valet in one lesson.
1:53-Double diss considering that Stephen Fry's own relatives were Holocaust survivors.
2:50-How to traumatized a valet in two lessons!
3:44-Valet sass at its finest!.
4:30-"When I say health, I mean what I am going to do to you if you continue playing that instrument, sir!"
4:51-"You realize that this is a wealthy household and I will be the one looking after it, sir!"
5:27-And thus we learn that P.G. Wodehouse discovered fanfiction!
6:26-"Maybe it would be better if Mr. Biffen were with another woman, say I don't know a Jeeves like my niece, MABEL!!!"
7:00-Don't you hate when couples break up?
7:47-" I need the money." "I need the money." "I need the money."
7:59-"Well played, Wooster!" The last face Bertie Wooster ever sees!
9:11-"No, I am afraid that I have not seen your prostitutes lately, sir."
11:30-In the fanfiction trade, we call this UST.
We all need a Jeeves.
Two great entertainers.
I've been into Jeeves & Wooster again and this is a perfect compilation. What-ho!
This top quality
Stephen fry is unbelievable.
Oh man. I had a huge crush on Stephen Fry’s Jeeves back then. So smart and handsome.
9:41 XD the best part is he _does_ look like Kitchener! Oh, that's _mean._
i just... i love these boys. so goddamn much
Same. 😁
I loved this when it came out and have very fond memories of watching with my Mum such huge fans and I have this on dvd for I doubt it would be re released
The idea of the young master actually wearing the mess jacket drove the stout-hearted Jeeves back a pace.
But, we know how hidebound and reactionary Jeeves is when it comes to proper dress.
this is so good
I'm glad the giraffe free period has ended. I'm glad you are feeling well enough to make giraffe videos. Your videos are great...
A splendid recommendation!
Hugh Laurie ? As Bertie Wooster? Tickety Tosh!!(and I mean it to STING!)
Fry's delivery somewhat reminds me of Data from TNG. I wonder if Bret Spiner was a fan.
8:06 perfect line delivery.
jeeves is an absolute savage.
Jeeves dramatic? Literally can't imagine.
They are literally married 🥹
Stephen Fry is a national treasure. Full stop.
The trombone teminds me of Charles Emerson Winchester and his French horn in MASH.
The main actor is dr House wow!!! He is brittish original
What is this amazingness
”Sir”
3:10 - click if you are a Scottish Terrier fan ;)
Occasionally judgemental, always sarcastic.
... But never, ever, wrong.
47 GINGER HEADED SAILORS 😂😂😂
Really speaks to me, that song.
perfectly titled up until that last word
Is that Hugh Laurie??! I need to see this. Where can I watch this???
Full episodes are all on UA-cam!
@@oldbetter-or-for-worser8359 Thank youuuu
Anyone ever seen those "incredibly posh people who are inexplicably servants" Mitchell and Webb sketches? They're skewering Jeeves and Wooster wirh those...
4:47 Jeeves' reaction titillates me a tad.
Keep in mind with the class structure at the time that it's all well and good for Bertie to say how much he wants a kid but Jeeves will end up being the one that does the heavy lifting of actually taking care of any children unless he gives notice, so I don't blame him for giving Bertie that "are you freaking kidding me?" look.
Well done. Jeeves would appreciate.
1:32 this is my gf when I put on my favourite tie with little kangaroos I brought from Australia...
Now I know where the inspiration for Mr. Sheffield and Niles came from!
8:00 that face 😂
Here's this kid watching a gay couple.... I haven't seen this since being one. I loved these two.
Dr. House is that you?
Fry's Jeeves was always a little on the smug and drama queen side to be 100% faithful to the books. Still a lovely series.
Yoo is that house???
Is Jeeves the Hero?
Yes.
He's the man that always gets Bertie out of whatever terrible fix he's in.
Well Bertie, effectively, is simultaneously the protagonist and his own antagonist. While Jeeves is a "meta-tagonist" (patent pending) who facilitates a resolution and a progression to the next caper/scandal/confluence.
Kind of
I hope someone can help me. I'm looking for the episode in which Madelyn marries Major Spode. I can't remember the name of the episode, and I very much want to view it. Thanks in advance to the clever fan who can point me to it!😊
That's the end of the very last episode I believe, enjoy!
@@oldbetter-or-for-worser8359Thanks... but it's hard to find by order... do you know the title of that episode please?
@@jeanettecook1088 'the ties that bind', or 'the exes are nearly married off'
@@oldbetter-or-for-worser8359 Thank you!! 😊
1:12 In fairness, that tie was damnably offensive
Jeeves hairstyle reminds me of Sean Hannity.
Wait... is that doctor House in his younger days???????? Looks like him°
Yep, that's Hugh Laurie
Thank goodness it was filmed in more smart times when people didn't need background laughter to spot a joke.
This show was released right around the same time as “A Bit of Fry and Laurie” and “Blackadder,” which both featured laugh tracks, so it has nothing to do with the time or era.
I do, however, agree completely on dislike of canned laughter.
He's proper funny innit
Dr. Cockroach, PHD and the Cheshire Cat in the same show.
Lol i love you for this comment
You blew my mind.
lol, a genius he may be, but Jeeves can be so catty about the slightest deviation from 'proper' attire
So whats new about Stephen Fry?
opprobrious remark (I should remember that)
Their skin is so vibrant and smooth this looks like it's AI generated, lol...
It's weird to see House in his natural environment lol
10:35
What is this from? I'm American and I'd like to look it up.
The show is called 'Jeeves and Wooster', all the episodes are here on UA-cam in very good quality if you look them up. Hope you enjoy!
Also the works of P G Wodehouse for more "reading" ( Jeeves and his shady put downs) adventures
