This is really useful thank you. I am just starting to build my own layout and having watched countless other videos I am delighted to come across at least three clever ideas here that I have not seen previously. Ideal to be able to watch someone who is at a similar stage.
Hey Duncan. Thank you for the comment. Please if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. I will help where I can. Good luck with the layout. I hope I can help with more ideas and some inspiration
Subscribed... full of admiration for converting those coaches. I am in 00 gauge, but I am just not brave enough to deconstruct models and put them back together.
Hi Jason. Thank you. It’s a very daunting prospect of cutting something up for the first time but very worth it as long as you have done your research first. The main layout in the wagon is OO but I fable in O and OO9 as well
Wow amazing look forward to seeing the layout grow, the wagon shed is amazing, the Lanc on the back wall is huge!!!, O gauge mk2d coaches ! Yes please I've started mk3 in O gauge but mk2s would be great , keep up the good work, 👍
Looking good, Steve oogauge is coming on well and impressive. I am intrigued to see the OGauge coaches' brilliant video and update look forward to the next one.
Hi there. I’m with you on that one. I think they are fantastic. It’s a shame no one makes something similar today. It does guy me a little cutting them up but there are lots of them and the will probably live on longer once modified hopefully. Thanks for the support
Your project re the coaches brought back mempries at my first Secondary school, (50 years ago..)and its model mrailway club. We were asked to create a model of a automatic barrier level crossing and living in Godalming it was Southern terriortoy, so I was given a Triang big boy Hymek and a number of coaches which we proceeded to remodel the coaches as a 4 VEP unit, andas well as making the barrier crossing with triang big boy track components, and the crossing. we also built a station building with a bar for which my pride anb joy was 7mm scale turned hand pumps for the bar ! I think the project was related to a school road safety campaign and the introduction of automatic barrier crossings in the area, so will watch your coach project with interest. PS you have a lovely presentational style and love your content. Rgds Mark
Thank you Mark. I very much appreciate your support. I love the story of the school project. We had these trains in my primary school as a play treat. When I left, they were given to me as the school knew how much I loved them. Thank you
Hi mate came across your first video and subscribed i am in the process of dismantling my attic layout and hoping to move into my new garden shed in the summer so i will be following your journey and hopefully pick up a few ideas good luck with the build
We're really enjoying following the beginnings of your journey, and like your relaxed style. That's a great idea to model the wagon as it is now and as found, we look forward to seeing it when you get round to it.....cheers James 🙂👍
Wow, I can see now how it would be so frustrating were a rtr car to be released just after completing your conversion. Must be incredibly satisfying though to achieve such perfection from your own hands. Thank you very for taking the time to record, edit and publish, much appreciated.
hi . your a tees. its like a good book your video cant wait to turn the page lol ,hopefully you wont keep us waiting for the next instalment 😂 thanks for sharing john
Great beginning to your UA-cam mission! You've got exactly what's needed - personality and, obviously, bucket loads of skill and experience. Well done.
Hi Steve. I always like to watch people do their model making , it inspires and imforms. I think that you may need to buy a Siphon wagon if your going to run three different scales. I also model military models in 1/72 - 1/76 and like you build kits only for a manufacturer to then produce the one that I have scratchbuilt , bummer eh ? People often ask me how do I have the patience but I tell them that its a passion. I can see that passion in you also. Good luck with the layout and other work. I will be following your progress.
Hi Brian. Thank you for the support. You are right. I may well need something bigger in the future. I have plans for 3 layouts in the wagon at the moment. The OO, then my 009 layout in a corner and possibly an O gauge layout over the OO fiddle yard. There is definitely enough to keep me busy for many years to come. I also have plenty of aircraft and ship kits to build waiting in the wings. I find there is nothing better than sitting down and making something and the end product. Thank you.
Nice work on the coaches I’m interested to see how they progress. Good job on the track it’s always nice to have a full loop to start running trains. Happy modelling Nat 🚂
I seen an old 1972 British Railways film on class 26's the other day that showed 7 and 8 window carriages like the o gauge carriage you are making, the 7 window, I was under the impression it wasn't true to life and a shortened Hornby/Lima thing, but both actually existed in real life. Nice video.
Hi there. I believe that some short coaches were made back in the days of branch lines or for special services. I don’t believe they lasted long though. Thank you for your support
I wish I could but the wagon is only 8ft across and most people recommend at least 10ft for a return curve. That might be a great idea for a G scale line though. I like the idea. Thank you
@the-wagon-Steve You're right if you want all the detailing not taken off the front wheel area of the loco's, but "O" gauge is 1/¼" ,twice "HO"/ "OO", that is ⅝", so a "O" gauge curve is twice as big as it's half sized little brother , but I'm sure you know all this, but I'm just saying incase someone reading might want to know. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do anyway, A garden layout would also be cool.
Good stuff Steve. Having butchered a few of these already, and having printed up some sides etc but the ends always let the conversions down because the air cons are a different shape at the ends, so it’ll be good to see your progress as the first one you’ve done looks good. Brian at Shawplan does some really nice etched frames if you feel like pushing the boat out 😉
Hey Mike. Thank you for your comment. I have some of Brian’s etches and will demonstrate them and hand made windows Brian has also cut me the correct tinted glazing. As far as I’m aware, the actual coach end body is the same across the fleet. The air con coaches and the later non air cons had the wrap around doors and the additional rain guttering. That plus a couple of minor changes in the location of some of the end detail. But I’m always happy to be educated. Thank you
I’ll look forward to seeing these with some tinted windows in. The wrap around doors change the profile slightly but the main difference is the roof. It’s more bulbous than the pressure vent version. Having said that, it’s not really going to notice when they’re running behind a loco. Keep up the great work 👍
Love the "get on and do it" approach. Interesting what you are doing with the O gauge coaches, looking forward to the next episode on the transformation. Where are you planning on running your O gauge layout? Thanks Matt
Thank you Matt. I’m looking forward to running the o gauge coaches. As of right now , I don’t have anywhere to run them but I’m sure something will come up
Hi Steve love your enthusiasm and innovative ideas. Look forward to the build.
Thank you Tony. I very much appreciate the comments

Thank you. The coaches will be progressed in the next video
Can"t wait to see the O Scale coaches when finished. Bill from California
Thank you Bill. Hello from the UK. I hope I can do them justice
Hi there, imaginaryholly pointed me in your direction. Great video! Thanks for sharing your passion!
Thank you. I very much appreciate you coming to have a look
Just found you ,,,,and subscribed .Your railway shed looks interesting .....The Lancaster,,, awsome,, Vulcan at the other end i hope !!!!!!!
Thank you. I very much appreciate your comments. No Vulcan unfortunately but maybe a Hawker Typhoon one day.
I love the Big Big Trains !
So much that when I obtained my Gantry crane, I got my dad to 'Sign-write' the beam with the words "Big Big Crane" !

Hey Tom. For me the results are the best part of the hobby. The build can be fun but also a bit frustrating at times. Thank you for the support.
Love the t-shirts and its also the best present going ❤
Thank you. My fiancée loves your comment too

Hi there. I believe that some short coaches were made back in the days of branch lines or for special services. I don’t believe they lasted long though. Thank you for your support
@the-wagon-Steve You should run your "O" gauge track high up, near the roof, so up can have a full loop.
I wish I could but the wagon is only 8ft across and most people recommend at least 10ft for a return curve. That might be a great idea for a G scale line though. I like the idea. Thank you
