something i am noticing with the beastwars netflix repaints is that they seem to be going for more beast mode display side of things,
while the retail release is for robot mode display.
seen with ratrap's and cheetor having colors on their legs that match their fur more and optimus primal having fur on his hands making ape mode stand out more.

Netflix Cheetor was a must-have, but I’ll most likely skip out on this one. That yellow-ish white on Optimus is pretty off-putting to me.
It’s mostly meant to have an off-white color like the original beast wars figure

Just scored this figure for $17 at my local Ross. I'm not big into the Beast Wars animal figures but I couldn't beat that deal. Primal really does look good in his bot form. Love the paint.
I’ve seen this figure like 8 times at different Ross stores in the past month, now I’m regretting not picking it up. Hopefully I can find him and it’s not too late
I don't think it would have killed them to give Primal red hips like in BW.

My custom original was able to capture that. I posted a video on my channel in case you want to see
Me personally I like the more metallic blue on the head the Netflix Primal, but it's just so dark and doesn't stand out or pop because it's just so saturated (the black is good). Same with Rattrap the normal orange color doesn't match with the dark grey. It stands out and not in a good way.
When transforming to beast mode they say “beast mode” not “maximize” (Depth Charge mixes this up once or twice in season 3)
If I didn’t have both primal and Rattrap normally I’d be down to get this

Inside the buttflap of the Optimus Primal figure, there is two vent-like thing sculpted and I think it's supposed to be the Jetpack (Or at least I use it that way on my figure)
Keep in mind, if you missed Primal/Rattrap earlier, or got into the brand because of the Netflix show, this will be the one you get. It's for the newer fans. The die hards got them in wave 1

I like the paint on the ape chest of the netflix version but by not painting the sides of the chest the same it looks off-color and jarring to me.
I skipped on these and ordered some online accessories instead, like:
-Bdt09 gut gun for cheetor
- Bdt08 mace for Optimus Primal
You can find upgrade kits on eBay. You can get a jetpack, gap fillers, longer and more accurate barrel cannons for his arm cannons.
primal has the best color among these netflix figures so far. it looks like a grounded and real animal. also the robot mode is more serious now.
Yeah for the beast wars characters I think I'll only be getting the netflix line it looks a little better then the main line. I just hope they do a airazor and rhinox somewhere down the line.
They don’t say maximize when they transform into beasts. They say beast mode.

Yeah Rhinox just got revealed so it’s inevitable. Also I’m only getting the Netflix figures because I am getting all of the kingdom figures they are freaking amazing I am also customising the manline versions my primal has blue gorilla skin my Dinobot has stripes and Cheetor has darker blue and gold
I feel like if this mold had the Prime mask, I’d get this one, as well...
Just bought this figure from Walmart as part of their Black Friday deals. Only about $30 compared to them separately. Didn’t even noticed the color difference lol
.... God dammit.. I just legit bought the OG version from the Kingdom Line.. I hate repaints and though I am kinda happy we are getting them looking like their og counter parts.. I honestly would like to save some fucking money! xD Dammit Hasbro!
I would have never seen that Ice Age character and now I can never unsee it.
Price-wise, the set is the same as the two individual figures would be if purchased at regular Walmart prices. Funny enough the Netflix deluxes are still at the sale price (like one dollar and change less) while Kingdom is back to the $20 price. I guess it makes sense to get more Primals out since most Walmarts only got wave 1 voyagers once and have got a bunch of wave 2 (seeing lots of Dinobots but Inferno is usually gone).

I'll pass on this. I already have the MP Primal, so a BW accurate color scheme isn't needed for me. I also like the Kingdom Ratrap's color scheme more.

Definitely a hard pass, and I don't even have Kingdom Primal. If they had given him 2 Battlemasters instead I'd be all in. Smashdown never got a repaint. Imagine how awesome Optimus Primal would have been with 2 huge hammers!
Wave 1 Optimus looks better IMO.

You know if they had actually added some of the missing paint apps especially on Rattrap it might have been worth it.
Easy pass for me, as I own both of them. But if I didn't own them and had missed out on the first release it's not a bad thing. It seems like figures have a release period of like a few weeks before a new wave replaces them.
For example, I never saw SS38 in the stores so re-release would have actually been nice for something like that.

Don't have them in hand, but on the video I definitely prefer the NF color schemes.
Great review PrimeVsPrime!!!!!!! I'm amazed at how much difference, only the paint job, distinguishes the Netflix figures from the Kingdom releases.
Just like in the 90s, we had normal releases, fox kids versions and Walmart versions. I’ll definitely be picking up this set just for completion reasons.
I agree, Wave 1 Rattrap is Better, but since I'm gonna get the Netflix Primal I'm gonna swap the Arms and Head on the Wave 1 Version with the Arms and Head of the Netflix Version, then the Wave one Body with the Netflix Head and Arms I'm gonna set to the Side.
It'd be worth it for me if they gave the beast modes the cartoony stylized look of Beast Wars over the "realistic" molded in detail of Kingdom. But that would have required retooling, which isn't cheap.

I actually just got this set today and was a random find, I've been trying to get prime and tron so this is a great find. I'm having issues with Rattraps transformation and so issues with primes legs so I'm hoping this video will help.
Who would have thought I am more excited for another siege seeker than the other option lol

Not gonna lie, this would’ve been better as a Packrat and Universe Primal pack. Two colors schemes that would’ve been very easy to do then releasing them in paint jobs way too close to the kingdom counterparts.
I'm really hoping we get a packrat from this rattrap mould one day
I agree, but pretty sure will get those in generations selects line. The universe Optimus Primal was officially repurposed as shattered glass Optimus Primal. So might be labeled as shattered glass.

I actually just got this today and I will say I Love the Primal I personally like this version over the Kingdom version. Though I prefer the Kingdom Ratrap over the two pack I think the brighter robot mode is much better, but I do prefer the two pack Ratraps Rat mode for its darker tone same with the guns
Chance for a White Predacon Labrat & Universe Corruption Surge Optimus Primal was here, lost opportunity for me.
Both are great figures and I dont have a preference for either color scheme. Got the Kingdom versions and I'm happy with that.
Would you guys say that this is a better deal if I were to get these instead of buying them separately? I mean cause now individual rattrap and primal are going for almost double for what I can find online but I can get this 2 pack for half

Are you going to be releasing the sparkless seeker? And if you could get another mold in the rusticon colours, (other than sideswipe) which one would you pick?
wish the balljoint on hip is red color. then it will setup the bar even higher
I definitely would have gotten these if they were colored like the original toys. Unlike Cheetor, the colors, in my opinion, are so insignificantly different that there's really no reason to get one of you already have the other.
If it also included the battle mask or even a different head with a closed mouth that might have added more incentive.
Great review as always.. You've stepped up your production game... I don't have Primal and Rattrap yet... This is very tempting... Oh and judging by Hasbro's trend in the past years.. I feel like we're going to have a rehash of BW Megatron and Dinobot.. Hmmm....

Hump in the back behind primals head needs to be bigger and the hip joints should be red
since ive just come back from a collecting hiatus and havent got anything since siege, this was an easy purchase at £25 from smyths

This ratrap doesn't look gray to me it looks tanish not does it look like it has purple on it.. it's funny because in design when we are determining gray we are looking for any red blue or green that we can notice with the naked eye.... Primevsprime must have that naked eye that picks out the red blue green in neutral colors... It's neat to know that because sometimes I have wondered if primevsprime had different color variations based on descriptions of figures.... But now I know

When Maximals change to their alternate mode, it should be called "BEAST MODE" but when they're about to change to their robot mode then yes absolutely they said "MAXIMIZE"
Wrong codenames. It's "MAXIMISE!" for Robot mode & "Beast Mode!", when they revert back to their beast forms......
Yeah I still don't understand reviewers who want to use the transformation activation codes and then use them wrong.

Picked up Kingdom Primal already. Will probably pick it up anyway for Rattrap and give my son Primal.
I agree with you for the Kingdom release Rattrap being better then the Netflix version, but between the two Primals I'm still not sure.

if you didn’t get the chance to get them before, this’ll be great, but other than that, they seem a bit _too_ similar.
i’m guessing the whole battle damage thing is a lot harder to do on beastmodes.
Maybe that’s a good thing though.
On my figure, I saw a black dot on my wave 1 Primal's left bicep, which I also noticed here.
Is it a coincidence and you had a paint chip similar to mine, or do all decos of this mold have a paint leak there?
It's the shoulder flap who chip the paint when you transform the figure I got the same issue
It would of been nice if they added more color to the fur so that it looks more dirty than just plain black
I might pick this up just for rat trap since I cant find him solo anywhere and i prefer these colors for him

The moveable piece is, the outer grey is pretty similar

yeah most of this wave is a miss for me. i picked up the Dessius Drone and i may pick up the sparkeless drone and maybe the seeker but the rest of it... i'll pass. Good review though.
