Great to see thnigs progressing so well.. If you don't want to extend the pit to 12 units for future capacity you could always make sure the pit is wide enough and you could go for an 8 unit double up down the line for capacity.. It gives same throughput as a 12 unit but less walking in the shorter pit..
Watching your videos closely as i'm thinking of doin the exact same myself , love your honesty of your vids keep up the good work . Cant wait til you start milking to see how it works out for you .
Kieran if you are considering upping numbers in the future, or on the chance that land may come up (just your comment on expanding Parlour is great forward thinking); would you not consider putting Parlour out to the far side of existing sheds. Yes there will be a cost to building the lean to for it, but that leaves the “3rd span” free for cubicles, which would reduce the cost of putting any additional cubicles in down the line as they would have to be in a shed built on there own. Use the span for calves for now as it would be very handy being so close to the Parlour to get cows milked and milk straight to the calves
Brilliant video lad. I really hope it works out for you. This is proving to be a tough year in dairy farming. The very best of luck to you and keep up the good work
Great progress kieran. simple fix for the light is to hang a gate between the walls of the entrance to the cubicle house and keep the door as is. Close it in hard weather. Another option would be al sheet a gate an the space above would let loads of light and air in. Well done and keep up the good work
Great video again. Kieran, I don't know if you do black leg vaccines for the heifers but it would be worth it for all the building construction work. We lost animals before excavated earth and stone from our own quarry. Great info on the slats and yard. Keep the info coming. Would love to put up a slatted area, it seems like a good price
powerwash inside shed it would make whole place light up a bit too. you don't realise how dirty they are until you get at it. Few repairs on anything half broken with the roof should let it last long enough for you to have a plan together on its future
Ah so the flies cant see a bunch of cows they can only see single cow aaahhhhhh, but why would he need spot on if they were in a bunch, aaahhhhh for himself as he ate the fly when they were in a bunch aaaahhhh
Not to rain on your parade as i like your vids. Tb is a massive have gone from 40 to 80 cows this year. Borrowed money etc to do it. I have lost 22 cows since april with tb. Im under massive financial pressure now. Im not taking it well to be honest. Department dont care about the loss of milk and the financial ramifications of that
I think it’s a coincidence that when the powers that be want the national herd reduced that at the same time there seems to be a huge increase in TB reactors 🧐
Be careful with the 'I'll have an 8 eight unit parlour but will leave room for 12 spaces" idea You gotta check the actually milking machine equipment & does it have the capacity to milk that many cows all at once Otherwise problems with incorrectly milked out cows
I don’t want to dampen your plans but I personally think that you are mad to be spending money to give yourself hardship because the truth is when you get all paid for the revenue get interested in you and take most of your profit and before you know it you are almost pension age .
Thanks for giving all your UA-cam fans break down on cost on building the tanks. Look forward to the next stages
You have great courage way farming is going

There gather in a bunch to keep away flies i think, do them wit spot on , and see if it makes any driffrence
Ah so the flies cant see a bunch of cows they can only see single cow aaahhhhhh, but why would he need spot on if they were in a bunch, aaahhhhh for himself as he ate the fly when they were in a bunch aaaahhhh

Tb an awful problem where I am too tallk to your bank try restructure loans if you can no one is perfect and Tb is out of a farmers control
I think it’s a coincidence that when the powers that be want the national herd reduced that at the same time there seems to be a huge increase in TB reactors 🧐
It's a hard year with cattle late goin out and weather not playing ball, talk to your bank and try to come to a solution with payments you can manage
Bunching caused by flies spoon every three weeks July to September i didn’t know for ages until I asked my vet
Good vid..what qty of clover did you put to the acre? 2kgs?
Good video😊
Fly's they use each others tail swishing to keep them off
Would you not power hose out those sheds? Would be a minimum effort for a man going milking
Well done great work Kieran
The fertiliser data base is a joke
How many kilos of clover was in the grass seed mix you sowed Kieran?
2kg in the mix. It came with 1kg and I added another 1kg myself
Hi Kieran, what’s the name of the clover safe post emergent spray you are using?
I haven’t bought it yet! I’ll probably ask the spray contractor what he recommends
Flies make them bunch together
Ya buy that batch hefers from one farmer
Be careful with the 'I'll have an 8 eight unit parlour but will leave room for 12 spaces" idea
You gotta check the actually milking machine equipment & does it have the capacity to milk that many cows all at once

Watch now hard get vat back now want have photos and evidence of work
Powerhose and whitewash the shed walls

Actually i think you are doing great keep up the good work
Did you get a grant on that or was that price after the grant
No grant. That’s the price with no grant.
@sullivansfarm it's a fine tank, wasn't bad without grant but having your own gravel was a big plus. Best of luck with the dairying
Good job geting thire.best.luck with milking ya put angus on hefers easy calved for first year
