Back in the day when people did romantic duets and weren’t trashy! Very classy! Rest In Peace Kenny Rogers. Sheena Easton had a few hits in the 80s, and she did a duet with Prince called “You Got the Look”. Her “Morning Train” was a hit and “For Your Eyes Only” was a James Bond movie theme song.
@@mcstacia I know, I was just saying I could recognize well over a few songs. I remember a lot more stuff than Jamel has never heard, but not every hit I can recall. Depends on which chart it is highest on. Some of the dance and country charts I'm less familiar with. I tend to know the ballads better.
She ‘s sung a few songs I can remember as a solo artist too.. Strut, Morning Train, Sugar Walls, Almost Over You are the ones that come to mind. She also did a duet with Prince called You’ve got the Look.
Another great duet with crossover appeal that came out around the same time in the early 80's and was a massive hit was "You And I" sung by Eddie Rabbitt and Crystal Gayle. It went to number 6 or 7 on the pop chart and solidified Eddie Rabbitt's status as a major music star at the time (and was he handsome !). The chemistry between them was undeniable. I also loved her hair.
That was a great duet.grew up listening to that one. Crystal is Loretta Lynn's sister, so talk about a talented family. Another duet I loved was You're the Reason God made Oklahoma but I forget who sang it.
Sheena is just as nice in person. She had a lot of hit songs in the 80s. For your eyes only was a Bond song and she appeared in the opening credits of the movie singing this song. Kenny seems like he was always in white at concerts. He was when i saw him a couple of times..
Sheena was big in the early/mid 80s. Look for her first hits Morning Train, For Your Eyes Only and Almost Over You. Her more sultry songs include Strut and You've Got The Look with Prince. She is Scottish and I believe was in a singing competition in the early 80s and that is how she became famous. Her first hits were from 1981. This song was originally by Bob Seger. Look for his version as well. Bob's best songs include Old Time Rock N Roll, Rambling Man, Still the Same, and Turn the Page. Bob is from Detroit Michigan. I am originally from Michigan and he was a huge concert draw in my state back in the day.
Love Kenny Rogers music from when he was with the First Edition (60's-70's) to his solo career. He was a great story teller in many of his songs like "Coward Of The County" & "The Gambler". He had so many hits "Lucille", "Lady", "Through the Years" etc. He did a lot of duets such as with Kim Carnes "Don't Fall In Love With A Dreamer", with Sheena Easton "We've Got Tonight" & with Dolly Parton "Islands In The Stream". He also did quite a few duets with Dottie West.
Sheena Easton stood out when performing the single for the 007 James Bond film, For Your Eyes Only. A good suggestion for reacting as well. Greetings from Brazil!
I had the biggest crush on sheena in the 80s, bought all her records and got my then g/f to take me to a concert for my birthday lol. I still get a shiver when i hear her sing.
Sheena! "My Baby Takes the Morning Train" was her first hit in the U.S. Little woman, huge voice. Has lived here in Las Vegas for years. This duet with kenny was magic.
That was a beautiful perfomancel It brought a tear to my eye. Kenny had such a presence and what a voice. They both brought such emotion to the song. If you don't put emotion into the song, then don't bother singing it.
Sheena is a Scottish singer and had 11 top 20 hits in the U.S. through the eighties. That was more than she had in the UK which is unusual for a British act. In 1984, she adapted a more sexy image through her songs Strut and Sugar Walls which was written by Prince under a pseudonym of Alexander Nevermind. She was also featured in Prince's 1987 hit U Got The Look which is well worth a listen.
Sheena Easton is an Scottish singer and Sheila E is a singer/percussionist! They both worked with Prince and both had a string of hits in the eighties but that’s where the similarities ends! Check out Sheena’s hits, Morning Train, Strut, Sugar Walls, and For Your Eyes Only from the James Bond film soundtrack! She and Kenny Rogers did an amazing job on this song!❤️❤️
You have to look up Sheena Easton solo. Sugar Walls was written for her by Prince and she also did backup on Princes “ You’ve got the look” 🙌🏼💜💜 love Sheena
Sheena Easton did the song and sexy opening credits for James Bond's 'FOR YOUR EYES ONLY'. She also performed with Prince ('You Got The Look'). Sheela E. is the drummer/performer discovered by Prince.
You nailed the theme of the song on it's head and why Kenny wanted to record that with Sheena, as he was already well-established as a crossover country-pop superstar while Sheena was just starting to get some success here in the US (she's originally from Scotland) - she had her one & only #1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart, "9 To 5 (Morning Train) - had to add the morning train to it's title as it was released at the same time as Dolly Parton's "9 To 5" from her hit movie - and a top 10 smash, the #6 "For Your Eyes Only" from the James Bond movie of the same name. You wouldn't have thought that the tone and style of their singing voices would have meshed but they proved you could take two singers who were almost different in every style of music and show that you could cover one of the most beautiful love songs. Glad Bob Seger and those associated with the song gave the thumbs up, as this version was the most successful on the Hot 100 Chart, peaking at #2
I’m 53 and I’ve never seen or heard this one either! Awesome! My favorites from Kenny Rogers though, are the hits from The First Edition. Especially “Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)”. Rock and Roll Kenny Rogers was great. The First Edition did some great Country/Southern Rock also. Songs like “Reuben James”, Tell It All Brother”, “Heed the Call”, and “Ruby, Don’t Take Your Love to Town”. Those are my favorite Kenny Rogers songs. I sometimes wish he’d stayed R&R. You can hear, I think, the Creedence Clearwater Revival influence in some of these songs. “Ruby” is one about a disabled Vietnam veteran. His wife is leaving him for another man; because of his inability to satisfy her. Classic, Timeless songs I think. Listen to these. You will be surprised by them. Great video, thank you.
One of the most underrated duets is Prince and Sheena Easton singing “The Arms of Orion” from the Batman soundtrack. Please check it out. There’s no official video but the song is amazing.
To be fair, when this song was released, it was a confusing time….lol. There was the Bob Segar “rock” version, there was the Kenny Rogers “country” version, and there was the Kenny Rogers/Sheena Easton country/pop version. All were charting at the same exact time, I personally loved them ALL, and wasn’t even old enough to really grasp the meaning behind the lyrics….I just new this song sounded GOOD!

One of the greatest duets of all time!
A great love song that has no cussing, violence,or sexual innuendos.
RIP Kenny Rogers.
Jamel, you'll love Sheena's "For Your Eyes Only", and "Strut". Wonderful, powerful voice.
Strut is awesome 👌
When he shines.. so good too!
Bob Segar Against the Wind if you have never heard it.
And "morning train." It might be hokey but I loved it! 😁

I am from Minneapolis, and a huge Prince fan (as most of us are). You've Got The Look was a banger! He also wrote Sugar Walls for her as well.
You’ve Got the Look is awesome!
Sugar walls lol.
