Kamikochi is one of the best places in Japan for hiking, camping or just walking around. It's a place that i'll always want to come back again.

The best months to visit would be between May and September. Swimming is not allowed there I think as I’ve not seen anyone swim in the icy cold river.

Hi, thanks for viewing! Yes, camping is allowed but you need to book a space in the designated campsite(need to pay). There are also cabins for rent. You can visit kamikochi website for information.

Can I take a taxi there?
yes but only up to a certain point. The taxi can only reach the base of the bus terminal where all passengers must take the public bus up to the park. You see cars up there and they probably belong to the hotel guests/workers etc etc. Please check the bus schedule and book it in advance as it is a popular destination and can be very crowded.
